If you don’t follow Warren Sharp, he seems probably the smartest analytics guy in football.  He’s literally come out of nowhere this season and his insights are definitely informative.

Stay with the tweets below about Josh Allen.   The gist is, not only was his completion percentage low last season but Wyoming coaches didn’t trust him to throw the football.  They chose to run the ball more, despite the fact that their rushing offense was far more ineffective than passing, and against defense who were far war against the pass.  Coaches didn’t want the ball in Allen’s hands during crunch time.

Look, based on his statistics the odds are against Allen developing into something special.  I get why fans are freaking out

You can read the tweets below.  There are probably about 10 of them,  but stick with it.  Great analysis here:

He makes a pretty big assumption that it was because of Allen...and not their offensive line, receivers, etc.  All this shows is that maybe they didn't trust their passing game...not their quarterback.

Not to mention the fact that he played in the Mountain West...aka not the south.  There's this little thing called weather.

not trying to dismiss this post, but when you start your post with he is the smartest analytics guy, and he came out of nowhere this season, those statements seem at odds no?

Then again, this coach just might be a run first type of mentality. They do exist, you know.

He thinks the guy is the "smartest analytics guy" because he's supporting the OP's viewpoint on Allen. Easy as that.

I don't see a complete analysis of Wyoming's offense in these tweets, so people will assume it's all Josh Allen's fault.  He will not be our Day 1 starter, so people need to relax.

The analysis is that their running game was horrible, yet they ran the ball more than they passed despite playing several horrible pass defenses.

And I'm sure Beane and the coaches have had extensive discussions with the head coach there?

Lol damn you Bills fans  are really pessimistic type! The kid hasn’t even thrown a pass as a bill yet in practice and their is a post up here about red flags! Lol everyone had Allen as a top pick and needing some development.. IMO air was a good pick by Buffalo I think in a 2-3 years he will be a good to very good starter for your team.

And the pass catchers?  It helps to have them actually catch the ball.  If they don't, it reflects on the QB's stats.

No he didn’t blow it. He took a career risk with a boom bust guy. They will either fix the guy and Allen will be John Elway 2.0, or McBeane will be unemployed along with Allen.  There is nothing in between.

So the seventh pick in the draft is someone that needs to be “fixed”?

Awesome!

Allen had the lowest drop rate of all the QBs in the draft.

His adjusted completion percentage (takes away drops and throw aways) was far and away the worst of all the top QBs in the draft.

Wyoming Head Coach, Craig Bohl, who was 6-18 his two years at Wyoming without Allen, and 16-11 his two years with him, doesn't trust Allen with the game in his hands?

Serious question - when was the last time a "boom or bust" QB boomed?

Um no... trying giving him a follow and you will see what I mean.  This is provided very good insight on the NFL.

i first heard of him in January when he broke down how Nathaniel Hackett’s play calling doomed the Jags versus the Patriots.

Eater of Worlds,

I’m just saying that Warren seems to have gained a much bigger following than in previous years - thanks to great analysis like his take on Allen

How ironic that a Pats** fan posts a reasonable post in a sea of pessimism. :)

This sounds like an argument the Cult of Tyrod used to make to defend his low output...oy vey
