And with the big name FA QB's probably going for 20-30 mill a year, 10 million doesn't sound terrible for a guy who took a team to the playoffs last season.

it would make the most sense for the browns. they have tt on a one year 10mil deal while darnold sits and....

tyrod would give them a chance to go .500 or maybe better in their division. that has to be the no.1 goal for them.

them playing pitt/cincy and baltimore is like facing the pats 6 times every year. the op's deal would be perfect for the browns.

we get mayfield.

I will plop this here too:

• Happy Hue. This comes from an executive with a historically reliable ear to the ground: Cleveland, with four picks in the top 35 of the draft, is still exceedingly interested in signing free-agent quarterback A.J. McCarron after the trade-deadline-day debacle last fall … and then backstopping him with a rookie quarterback in the draft. I’m hearing that’s coach Hue Jackson’s preference, having coached McCarron in Cincinnati as Bengals offensive coordinator.

i can't see how the giants would not put rosen behind manning.

Not only that, this is not about doing the Bills favors.  The Giants like every other team have several targets in mind and they may still value a top 10 player and would be more willing to trade with the Jets, Tampa, or Denver so that they don't lose that player.  While the person you quoted noted the previous relationship between Gettleman and Beane/McDermott, what they did not take into account is that Gettleman has NEVER traded back AND he's more of a I'd rather have a dime than two nickels kind of guy.  Given that, I know we wish for it but it might just be wishful thinking.

I know he wants McCarron and maybe he will get him, but only if Dorsey agrees. I think Hue’s leash is too short for him to be making any big time decisions like this for the team as far as who will be their QB of the future. Imo AJ is going to make his FA decision based on whatever team convinces him he’s “the man.” He’s not taking any risks with a team that could take a QB in the top 5 or where might be projected as a backup.

i personally don't think any rookie should be a day one starter.

I would throw him out there for sure. He and Mayfield are the two from this year who are ready to go imo.

Is Andrew Luck worth the 1st and 4th overall picks in a draft that is considered to have multiple franchise QBs? If I'm Cleveland I'd only trade the 1st overall and one of their seconds for Luck.

If Andrew Luck is healthy, he is not being traded.

If Andrew Luck is being traded, inspect the MRIs of his shoulder and work him out throwing, and proceed with care.

Isn't Hue Jackson the guy who persuaded the Raiders to give up the farm mid-season for Carson Palmer?

i would like to think that a.j. would prefer to come to buffalo on a 3-4 yr. well paid contract as the undisputed starter vs. going to cleveland on a short deal with someone like darnold behind him.

if we could sign a.j. and get two monsters for the dline, we could go into the 2nd round get billy price and a good edge/lb.

we could go into the 3rd and grab mike white or.....whoever and a speedy wr.

go into the 4th get the rb.

rd. 5 bpa x2    then in fa all we need is norwell and re sign gaines. i would be in heaven

Badly missing my point.

Who is the #1 QB?  Who are the top 3? 6?

Look - if the Browns are convinced that one of those QB's is a surefire franchise guy AND definitely better than the other 2, 4, or whatever, they should certainly take the QB.

BUT the apparent truth is there is good and bad about all of these guys - none of them is guaranteed better than the other guys.

OTOH, Barkley is the best RB prospect in several years.

Giving up an easy choice for your first among multiple unknowns makes zero sense.

I agree with your point here. BUT, that can also be seen as an indictment on the failures of the Browns GM's and scouting department. It's possible nobody really knows which QB is the best or even which two QBs are the best. But it's likely one of them or two of them will be the better QBs. Browns not being able to decipher which QB or QBs those are is not a good thing.

If the browns dont take Barkley 1st, they wont get him 4th. If they take him 1st theres still a very good chance they are able to get one of the top QBs in the draft at 4 and get one of the best RBs to go with him. Seems like a smarter move for them since they need a lot of talent for that team

...why would they wait and run the risk?.....not sure what the risk/reward would be also having #4.....

Kudos to this guy for seeing trade with Cleveland.

I think Hue Jackson and Browns telegraphed wanting a Vet QB.  By saying they wanted one 1 Vet and 2 young QBs in QB room and then putting in an offer for Alex Smith.

seems they are likely locked to draft Darnold or Allen and sit them for one season.

and when you break down

bridgewatwr, Keenum etc...Taylor was what seemed cheapest and easily removable in Year 2 of Darnold or whoever
