Who Made the Call on Castillo?

I defended the Dennison offense a week ago, but I have no defense for this Juan Castillo. I still think the system works, but trying to fit the square peg in a round hole here doesn't. With the OL, we don't have our best 5 on the field and the 5 we do put out there look completely overmatched 80% of the time. Have Tyrod and Shady's elusiveness hidden the fact this OL was trash all along? Or is it the fact we have Wood/Ducasse instead of Groy/Miller? Or is it that Ducasse/Mills <<<<<<<<< Miller/Mills? Or is it the Zone Blocking scheme in general? Or is the fact that Juan Castillo is a ?coach? Whatever it is, I don't understand how the OL goes from fairly dominant to complete crap this quickly. The only guy missing Kromer. What I'm trying to get at with this post is who made the call on Castillo? Was he brought on by Dennison or was he a McDermott guy? The guy shouldn't have a job right now, that's for certain.

...pure speculation, but I'd guess it was McD filling a staff position.....and neither Castillo or Vlad the 'Nad lit it up with Ravens.......Wood remains solid at C but I'm not buying Richie is done....I think his play is affected by his frustration with this clown.....wasn't Miller identified as the 2nd most improved in 2016 by PFF?....didn't Groy fill in admirably in Wood's absence?....neither rarely see the field.....damn right the best 5 are NOT out there......

Kromer is not only one missing - he was not coaching for 6 weeks when suspended and the assistant coach was good enough to be poached to be OL coach for another team.

Correct - he was his first significant hire.

OL coach Aaron Kromer - Fired 1/31

Asst. OL Coach Andrew Dees - Hired 1/20
Offensive Coordinator Rick Dennison - Hired 1/19
OL Coach/Run Game Coordinator Juan Castillo - Hired 1/13
Head Coach Sean McDermott - Hired 1/12

I changed my name from Koolaid to Limeaid because the new HC dumping good coaches and scouts with bad gave me sour stomach.

Well, when your coaching staff lets everyone go, who are you going to put in as playmakers?

We've let some playmakers go, no doubt, but they weren't giving the effort here.  They needed to go.  I think it's been all too easy for players to not give everything they have - that is not only no longer going to be tolerated but it's definitely not going to be rewarded.   When your big ticket playmakers and highest paid players are Watkings and Dareus - things need to change and they have.  Did it make us better?  No, but you can't move forward with people like that.

You need a team full of Kyle's not just a few.  Kyle tried to reach guys like Marcell and Jonathan Williams - some guys just aren't in it 100% for whatever reason.

And now they've still got a bunch of guys not giving effort that they kept and brought on to the team, but they are just less talented.  If you're going to tell me this isn't the worst stretch of listless play in the history of the playoff drought, please enlighten me to what is.  I've never seen a team go sour so fast in my life.  You had a team at 5-2 that started to mail it in during the second half of the Jets game.  Maybe giving effort has something to do with coaching putting players in the best position to succeed.  And if players can see that is not happening, it's tough to not think about self-preservation first and foremost.

Dennison and his staff are pretty poor, and by effectively laying blame to the QB (benching Tyrod) for the offensive woes after the OLine looked like it would have trouble be the starting lineup for a college cupcake.  The fact that there was no shake up in the OLine is just mind boggling to me - are they watching the game film?  There may have been plays to be made to open receivers, but if the QB is getting constant pressure from all angles on designed in the pocket pass plays what the hell do you expect?  With a less elusive guy you saw what you can expect - turnovers, and lots of them, and a generally ineffective offense.

I can't imagine being a player on this team right now - it would seem pretty clear to me that if these guys didn't bring you in, there is a good chance you are on your way out eventually, regardless of your talent.  The team has received that message loud and clear and the results are showing on the field.  This is the job of the HC to get this shipped righted and it appears to me the captain has no clue how to get things under control.  We shall see, but this is going to be a true test of whether he has what it takes to be a good HC.
