Why the Pats have the best short-pass game in the NFL

Recommended Posts

One thing I think about some times is ne's alleged cheating with helmet radios

If they constantly have radio contact to Brady the horse !@#$er than they can yell out x y z and he knows the exact spot to throw it.

Its just a thought but you'll see his wrs are crisp on the spot runners as such they hit the spot and he throws it there.

The frequency is open for 25 seconds so teams like the Pats, who have a very efficient no-huddle or up-tempo offense, should get a little more benefit out of it.

The technology is only at ground level. There's no "All-22 view" available so how much benefit they gain from that is hard to decipher.

But really ... what do those two teams - Broncos and Seahawks - have in common over the last few years? Could it be great secondaries? From the defensive perspective, the answer is "get better players first," then try to play the schemes in which those great players can win matchups. Just like the answer on offense is "get a Tom Brady, then implement a passing game that takes full advantage of his unique skillset." No knock on you or trying to put words in your mouth, but I just don't see the defensive talent in Buffalo to pull off what the Broncos can pull off ...

Front 4 who could get to the QB without blitzing= 7 guys in coverage

as soon as they break the huddle the stream is supposed to be cut off

And iirc if there is no huddle it is cut off as soon as either the center touches the ball or as soon as the official signals to start the clocl

What if Brady is told pre-snap which receiver is uncovered?

And how do they know what they give you? Because their helmet radio stay on and the guys in the press box tell Brady what the defense is.

...pretty sure Kraft has Assange & Wikileaks on the payroll(COUGH)......their success has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with football prowess (BIGGER COUGH)....but then again, the Russians..............

I agree. A lot of that comes with the type of offense they're running: lots of short routes, slants, crosses, etc. where WRs/RBs are running routes through traffic.

They also use decoy routes . Players intentionally covered downfield to open up under route underneath. It's basically a pk but in the intermediate area. I've never seen any other team do this.

BTW the refs love them and they get away with alot of illegal pks, holds, rubs that other teams couldn't dream of getting away with.

Best QB and best coaching staff in football.

It's really that simple.

It really is that simple......Brady was just voted # 1 in the top 100 by NFL players...the guys that play while we sit on the couch watching......I put a lot more credit in that list than the ones made by TV personalities or writers ( where Brady is usually # 1 anyways )....NFL players, including some from the Bills, are saying he's the best......he's also the only player ranked in the top 5 every year since that list began in 2011....1st, 4th, 4th, 3rd, 3rd, 2nd and 1st again....That's the ultimate respect....

We are just unlucky to have him and BB in our division....the good news is it's almost over....

Largely picks...refs never call it

They do pick a lot. We started to do that sometimes the last couple of years too, and bunch formations as well. It was successful and we didn't get called much if at all.

Pick plays work and not just for the Pats.

Why on earth would I accuse a team caught cheating twice, and is shrouded with rumors of other transgressions, of being tarnished?

Let's look at this another way. Think of the greatest NFL teams in history. Now think how long those dynasties lasted. Now look at the Patriots run of dominance. They have shattered previously established levels of excellence by a factor of two or three.

So either they are a team of hyper-evolved super humans, or they do something to gain an advantage.

What's the more likely scenario?

This is true. That amendola 2 point conversion near the end of the superbowl was the textbook example of an illegal pick. Complete joke that it wasnt called.

100% false.

it is LEGAL for WR to block up to 1yd beyond the LOS on any forward pass that is completed behind the LOS.

The pass to Amendola was behind the LOS and Edelman was blocking 1yd beyond it. the play was perfectly legal and within the rules.

and newsflash for the foil wearers...every single NFL team runs pick plays. the only times it gets called is when it is blatantly over the line.

its the same as cops and speeding. no one looks twice at someone going 5 over the limit, but pass a cop at 15 over the limit and you're getting a ticket.

None of those other dynasty had the GOAT QB and the GOAT HC together...at the same time.....As I said, the good news is it's almost over...we'll never see a team like the 2001-2017 NE team ever again....that's also a good news...Their dominance is hurting the league....if they win the SB again this year ( they are the favorite ) things will only get worse....The entire AFC is waiting for those 2 to retire...

Putting cameras in the wrong spot ( Spygate ) and deflating balls ( if they did it ) doesn't explain they're dominance...they are that good..it sucks, but it is what it is....everything else we hear about NE cheating is made up by jealous fans and players IMO....the communication things is the weirdest...communications are controlled by the league, not the teams....couple of years ago, our Bills had issue in Foxboro...everyone started to scream " cheats "....come to find out, Rex's staff were to stupid to check the batteries and they ran out....it happens in every stadium....it's somehow a story when NE is involved...you never hear about it when it happens to Houston playing in Cleveland for example....

Still, at that time that pairing was the GOAT QB and the GOAT HC together at the same time.

Yes...at that time, they were...I agree.....

NE's success however dwarfs what SF did.....7 SB appearances and 5 trophies is incredible, but the stat that really jumps out at me is the 11 AFCCG appearances in 16 years...that is just absurd....
