Here's one:

Shy's Steak House

690 Fillmore Ave.

Best damn steak hoagie I have ever had.

how's their steaks ?

I'm still looking for a great steakhouse as my go to place closed down 10 years due to the Casino (people are dumb and think casinos are automatically better). Also EB Greens WAS great and now is ok

Shy's just a hoagie and burger joint; the "steakhouse" name is a bit misleading

The only "fancy" steakhouse I've really been to around here is Salvatore's, which is pretty good. SEAR on Delaware is another.

Did Sear get better? I thought it was somewhat disappointing early?

I'd LOVE this thread if I was still in WNY. We have a mini-competition with some friends in Atlanta to find off the beaten path great places to take each other.

Laugh all you want, but I took my dad to Cracker Barrell last week for his 67th bday and it was great. Went there on Wednesday before church let out. Food was great, service was great and the price was great.

My wife had a thing for some chicken salad with Colby cheese for years. I enjoyed it for a while, but I am not a fan of chains. We did recently buy some of their rockers for the front porch.

If you ever get down here to Austin, Vince Young Steakhouse is fantastic.

I like Black & Blue

i enjoy the one in rochester. it's not the best steak in the area, but the food is good, and the bar is fantastic.

i don't think they're out of the way places, but when i lived in buffalo, i loved gabriel's gate and colter bay. i lived up the street from both, and went to them on the regular.

i also had a place in my heart for franks sunny italy. again, not the greatest italian in the area, but the portions could feed you for days.

one more...i'm not sure if it's still there, but la marina on hertel ave was amazing.

Klimek's Tavern on Oliver St. in North Tonawanda.

Some of the best wings, fries, and blue cheese around. Still very cheap ($6 for 10 wings). Bottled beer is $2.25 and a low key atmosphere. You walk into the kitchen to order. Cash only. Only negative about the place is the owner kind of opens whenever he wants depending on events and such. There's been a few times on Saturday's we've pulled up at 6:30 and it still wasn't open. Food is phenomenal though.

love this topic!

Ebeneezer Ale House in West Seneca - all their food is delicious, its "bar food" but done extremely well. They have a meatloaf sandwich (which I recommend opting for the double decker option) that is out of this world!

New York Beer Project - for Sunday Brunch....been multiple times, got multiple different things every time, and all have been phenomenal (breakfast tacos were great, as was the breakfast sandwich with thick "bar bacon")

Trattoria on North French for happy hour does cheap, delicious wood fired pizzas

Everyone raves about Grover's Burger, but check across the street at Ruzzines Rock Bottom for a better burger (and steak sandwich is also bomb)

Enjoy eaters!

if you like mediterranean/middle eastern food and are lucky enough to have a NafNaf Grill, check them out....they are a chipotle-style format for shwarma, falafels etc...based out of chicago and are entering new markets pretty quickly

If you're a fan of Mediterranean food, check out Byblos in Amherst, NY.

Amazing food.
