So who is left that we could reasonably sign

Recommended Posts

DL Depth- P.Solial, F.Alexander, C.Bryant, W.Horton

CB/Nickel- J.Robinson, Verner, Djoun Smith, L.McFadden

A 1-2 yr deal with M.Floyd or C.Patterson. Have to get the #2 playmaker in the draft for the passing game though.

i really like Kendall Wright; he is more of a slot, but he is good.

They could add Wright as the slot guy then draft an outside receiver in the first few rounds

Given the amount of players under contract on this roster,Id say its obvious we continue to add to it. Regardless of our cap space,Im pleased with the additions so far.6 signings by the end of day one FA was a bit aside from the normal OBD dust settler signings. We had reasonable targets, and we were able to sign them. And were not done yet...

Draft is good for 2-3 solid contributers at MOST. This guy isn't wrong, we need to make more acquisitions or else this whole thing is worthless.

This is not the mindset of a successful team. You need 5/6 solid contributors per draft. Whether that be on special teams or as injury replacements throughout the year, you need to find guys who can contribute throughout the entire draft. These guys are so much cheaper than FAs and building through the draft protects your cap situation.

5-6 solid contributors is not so easy in a standard 7 rd draft. 3 is more an acceptable number. And Whaley flirts with that each year

5/6 per draft????? What fantasy land are you living in??? Not a single team has 5/6 per draft more than once in a blue moon.

The almighty pats had 2 MAYBE 3 AVERAGE at best contributers from their last draft. Get a grip. Each draft, in my opinion and observation, the threshold goal is to get 1-2 lock in starters, and 2 contributers.

Let's look at ****ty Whaley's draft from last year:

1. Shaq - decent season, understands leverage and seemed like an all effort player, high hopes.

2. Ragland - had a lot of hype surrounding him as a plug and play starter.

3. Dolph - for a 3rd round DT, contributed well for most of the season

4. Cardale - bum

5. J. Will - started slow but was decent later in the yr. TBD

6. Kolbee - TBD

6. Seymour - not half bad as the season was winding down, did fine from the slot, got beat wide a couple times, and might be a starting CB going into next yr.

Maybe our GM isn't so bad...

2015 draft with no first: Darby, Miller, Karlos (what could have been you bum), O'Leary, Steward, and Dez.

That's 2 starters, 2 contributers, but one obviously self-imploded.

2014 draft. Sammy - enough said, Kuandjiao - not looking so bad anymore, Ross Cockrell (rex foolishly lost), Preston Brown (may you never play in a 3-4 EVER), Seantrel, and Cyril Richardson.

That's 2 starters, and 2 contributers. Whaley is consistently adding 4 players that help this team.

Just find us a god damned QB.

+1. DW has drafted well. Not a fan of the Sammy deal, but it be what it be. His trades and FA pick ups have been good to outstanding. The hole is QB. Just keep drafting one to you find one.

Losing Cocktrell still stings. He would have fit in perfectly

Just because you haven't heard of guys doesn't mean they don't make significant contributions to teams. People underrate team depth and special teams players all the time. And what happens when you don't hit on depth in the draft, well, you have injuries during the season and are forced to sign unemployed scrubs off the street (as we do every single year) because we can only find one or two contributors in the draft. Meanwhile, teams like the Packers and Seahawks are getting the most out of their drafts every single year and only signing cheap FAs or that one guy that may get them over the hump. Not filling 5 holes every off season with overpriced FAs. Who perennially spends the most in FA? The Redskins, right? How has that worked out for them? Overpriced guys year after year after year and in cap trouble year after year after year.

Your definition of "solid contributor" is just so fanlike and you are the one who needs to step out of fantasy land and take a good look at how real organizations are run.
