Brady has had an easy time in the AFC East his whole career

Recommended Posts

Back in the late 80's thru the mid-90's, the AFC East had two elite QB's in the division, Kelly and Marino, followed by Bledsoe during the 90's with the Patriots. Since Brady took over as starter in 2001, he's barely had to face any good competition within the division. The best Brady had to face was Drew Bledsoe who was on the downside of his career during his three years with the Bills and Brett Favre who played with the Jets (had a torn bicep) for one year. Brady has had an easy ride winning the division almost every single year as there's been no real competition for 16 years. It would be nice if some team (preferably the Bills) got an elite QB and finally gave the Patriots a real challenge within the division.

That's why he plays in the Super Bowl. There's usually some competition for him there.

It's pathetic that no other AFC East team has been able to get a very good/elite QB over the past 16 years. The Bills, Jets and Dolphins have been making it easy for Brady and Belichek.

What about the rest of the league that he absolutely dominates as well? Time to face the fact that the guy is an amazing player, clearly the best of all time, who is smarter, more clutch, more dependable, and a better leader than any other QB in the history of the league.

This is exactly how you miss the playoffs that many years. Always fighting for a wildcard against other weaker divisions.

Until there is realignment, and the Patriots (Brady) are out of the division....NO SOUP FOR YOU!

Houston, Jacksonville and Tennesee made it easy for Peyton too.

and I say that as a guy who loves Peyton.

Bledsoe? He sucked. There have been much better quarterbacks than him in the division since 2001. Chad Pennington alone was much better.

Takes more than a great quarterback. It takes a team.

Last night, Matt Ryan was the only Top 10 QB Brady had to face all year long. We unfortunately know the outcome, but if the Falcons coaches were smarter, they would have won the game. You know every game Brady is in, he's going to put up a lot of points, so you need an elite QB who can do the same. The AFC East has shown that you can't do that with guys like: Losman, Holcomb, Edwards, Fitzpatrick, Manuel, Taylor, Pennington, Clemens, Sanchez, G. Smith, Fiedler, Lemon, Beck, Moore and Tannehill.

Funny, the three teams they faced in the playoffs all had relatively weak defenses.

Houston got in because Carr went down in Oakland, Pitt still hasnt recovered from Polamalu leaving and has a weak secondary, and the Falcons D only played one half of football.

Not the most difficult three teams to face. Shanahan screwed up so badly on calling a drop back play on the 35. Took em out of fg range, cost them the game.

The QB is the most important piece of the team and the rest of the division hasn't had a great one, let alone a good one in over 16 years.

Brady was on IR the one year Farve played for the Jets, and the Pats SPLIT the series with them still with Cassel as QB. Also how many QBs were destroyed, not only in the AFCE, but league wide by a lack of any real good coaches. I can count on 1 hand the number of good coaches in the NFL . (BB,Harbaugh, Reid,Carroll, and McCarthy and I'm not sold on Mccartthy.) the NFL Is in dire need of better coaches!

How many divisions have two (or more) elite quarterbacks?

AFC North has Rapistburger and Flacco (two SB winners) and Dalton who was doing good up until this past season. Have the Bills, Jets and Dolphins had a good QB the caliber of those three since 2001...I don't think so. NFC North has Wilson and Palmer, Wilson went to two Super Bowl's and won one, Palmer was in the NFC Championship game last year...again, have the Bills, Jets and Dolphins had a good QB the caliber of those two since 2001...I don't think so. NFC East had E. Manning and Romo and Manning won two SB's. Have the Bills, Jets and Dolphins had a good QB the caliber of those two since 2001...I don't think so.

Ironically, in Brady's first SB season (2001), the Colts and Manning were still in the AFC East. Things would definitely have turned out differently if realignment hadn't happened ...

Ya a great player like Manning may never have won a SB. Talk about a team that relied on just O to win his D was awful every year. (Including the Colts SB winning season they got hot in the Playoffs.)
