Brady has had an easy time in the AFC East his whole career

Recommended Posts

AFC North has Rapistburger and Flacco (two SB winners) and Dalton who was doing good up until this past season. Have the Bills, Jets and Dolphins had a good QB the caliber of those three since 2001...I don't think so. NFC North has Wilson and Palmer, Wilson went to two Super Bowl's and won one, Palmer was in the NFC Championship game last year...again, have the Bills, Jets and Dolphins had a good QB the caliber of those two since 2001...I don't think so. NFC East had E. Manning and Romo and Manning won two SB's. Have the Bills, Jets and Dolphins had a good QB the caliber of those two since 2001...I don't think so.

Flacco is not elite. He should legally change his name to Joe Fluke-o because that's exactly what his Super Bowl season was. Neither is Dalton for that matter. Wilson is great but Palmer is meh. You just named a bunch of good teams with okay quarterback play.

The Steelers have been to three Super Bowl's and won two with Rapistburger, but the Ravens still managed to get in the playoffs six times and Bengals still managed to get in the playoffs five times even with playing against an elite QB [Rapistburger] in the division. You can try and use the argument "You just named a bunch of good teams with okay quarterback play," but how would all the AFC East QB's from the Bills, Jets and Dolphins over the past 16 years do on those teams? The Bills had a Top 5 defense three different times during the playoff drought, but did that get us to the playoffs? No.

A good QB can make all the difference.

Here's another division, the NFC South. The last two teams to represent the NFC came from this division. Every QB in this division can be considered very good to elite. Cam Newton, last year's MVP. Drew Brees, still throwing for over 5,000 yards and a SB winner. Matt Ryan, league MVP. Jameis Winston, up and comer and looking good in his second year in the league.

Ravens managed to get into the playoffs six times because they're a good team with a good head coach. Same with Bengals. It takes more than a good/great quarterback. Just ask the Saints and Chargers.

Ya a great player like Manning may never have won a SB. Talk about a team that relied on just O to win his D was awful every year. (Including the Colts SB winning season they got hot in the Playoffs.)

That's just not true. They had a number of good defenses: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/clt/.

More to the point, the 2006 defense with Bob Sanders was elite; without him, they weren't. Once he came back late in the season, they were a force to be reckoned with. And they showed that time and again in the playoffs that year. With a healthy Sanders in 2007, they finished 1st in points allowed and 3rd in yards allowed.

Sanders rarely stayed healthy. Also look at the ads in the AFCE he would have been destroyed and probably considered a bust if not for the re alignment. The Bills,Dolphins and Jets usually always have a good D but a mediocre to bad O.

The rest of the league made it hard for him in the playoffs.

Yeah that was my point.

Lots of great QB's have weak divisions. Most teams in the NFL are not good. They either have talent and no QB, or a QB and no talent.

Agree to disagree. What about all the other divisions I mentioned? How come the Bills didn't make the playoffs when the Bills had the #2 ranked defense two years in a row in the early 2000's? How come they didn't make it to the playoffs when they had the #4 ranked defense under Schwartz and a Top 5 Special Teams unit?

Flacco is awesome in the postseason. He rises to the occasion and when he's on his game, he can beat anybody.

You said the Colts' D was "awful every year." That's fundamentally not true. That's all I'm saying.

This is nonsense. Flacco's postseason record and wins vs Manning/Brady are on the books.

Belicheck cheated Flacco out of another sb appearance with illegal plays when Flacco was busting them up again.

Maybe he should focus his greatness more on the regular season.

10-5 in the postseason.

25TD's-10 INT's in the postseason.

5.6% for his TD%, career high

7.2 Y/A, career high.

Calling him a fluke based on 1 season is inaccurate. He's one of the best postseason QB's ever.

Because their quarterbacks and head coaches stunk. Like I said, it's a team sport.

If he would stop sucking in the regular season he would have even more postseason opportunities to prove his "greatness".

He's made the postseason 6/9 seasons in the NFL. Went 5 years straight in his first 5 years in the NFL. In a division with two other perennial playoff teams.
