Oil crashes by most since 1991 as Saudi Arabia launches price war

Oil prices suffered an historic collapse overnight after Saudi Arabia shocked the market by launching a price war against onetime ally Russia.

US oil prices crashed as much as 34% to a four-year low of $27.34 a barrel as traders brace for Saudi Arabia to flood the market with crude in a bid to recapture market share.

The shock to oil also rattled stock markets, which were already in a panic because of the novel coronavirus outbreak. Market in Asia plunged during Monday trading hours, while US futures recorded massive declines.

Most people on the left did not rip on Trump for closing our borders to China, though. In fact, I don't think anyone ripped Trump for that. I'd like to see an example.

It's a moronic statement by a moron whose head is so far up there it's somewhere between Trump's stomach and large intestine by now.

Shut up Lemmingwinks!

Trading suspended

Circuit breakers’ designed to protect against panic-selling are likely to kick in today.

With U.S. stocks set to plunge at the open, investors will be watching for key market circuit breakers to kick in and limit or halt the market altogether.

Futures contracts hit “limit down” on Sunday evening after CME-traded stock index futures contracts sank 5%, halting trading below that level and preventing futures from falling any further […]

According to the New York Stock Exchange, a market trading halt may occur at “three circuit breaker thresholds” on the S&P 500 due to large declines and volatility. The exchange classifies this at three levels based on the preceding session’s close in the S&P 500.

Falls of 7%, 13%, and 20% respectively will trigger automatic suspensions of trading. The first two ‘pauses’ will be for 15 minutes each, while the final one would suspend trading for the rest of the day.

That has now happened, with a 15-minute pause.

Sounds like a good time to get into oil speculation.

I just bought a tanker full of oil at the 50% off table. I might pick up another on red dot Wednesday if things keep going this way.

On another note Nancy Pelosi just blamed everything on the White House. "The market has no confidence in the White House". She and Hillary are neck and neck for the C U Next Tuesday/2020 award.

I thought the market was happy about Biden winning a state. What happened? They are not happy with Biden anymore?

Boy, just like President Obama, President Biden will be inheriting a mess! Maybe even a bigger mess!

Tiberius, Chief Cheerleader for a recession. I wonder what's happening in the rest of the world as it pertains to the virus and the market or are these only limited to the U.S.?

The media was basically calling him mentally challenged since shortly after he got in the race. That's besides the decade long mocking of him for his gaffes, plagiarism and singing gig for The Villages.

Now, it's just a stuttering problem.

Yes and that narrative worked at the time because not only was Joe old and showing signs of senility - he was also a white male.  A few months ago the leftist media was dying for a "minority" to be the nominee.  Joe was a worthy target then.  Now with them all gone it's time to get on the Joe train.
