Jerry isn't calling the shots anymore. Which is why the cowboys are now winning.

He seems to have settled down. He stopped blowing it up every 2 to 4 years. They aren't trading up and down the draft board like a berserk yo-yo as much. He decided to stick with Romo and build a team around a QB that couldn't really carry the entire team, which has been to Prescott's advantage.

But it did take a long time and some fan suffering for JJ to learn on the job. ;)

This is were i was going to go with this. And adding to discussion, is how long he has had the Team.

For better or worse, and now better again

I'm wondering why you are leaving out the pick of Elliot?

That was a great pick, but every arm-chair GM had the Cowboys taking Elliot.

So hard to know but how much of Elliot's success is the line??? Could another RB produce the same and could they have added defensive help with a top 5 pick?

Doesn't matter. Jones should get credit to adding to his team's strength regardless of who the QB was supposed to be.

Uh huh.

What great RB has not been assisted by a very good/great O-line? Well, there's Barry Sanders...

How many yards did McFadden rack up last year behind that line? Elliot will surpass the combined rushing yards for the whole team last year.

Demarco Murray had a ton of yards behind that line 2 years ago. Demarco Murray has a ton of yards this season (2nd behind....Elliot) on a different team.

How did the Cowboys other RBs do statistically? they sucked is the answer

The elusion is that Jerry is running the team but in reality son Stephen is running it under the table.

I have no doubt the Son lets Dad get the glory when it comes. As well he should.

Stephen is the future of the Cowboys, and that's likely good for the Cowboys : )

Jerry isn't calling the shots anymore. Which is why the cowboys are now winning.

He bought the team in 1989. They won the Super Bowl in 1992, 1993 and 1995.

And they haven't won it since.

But please, don't let me get in the way of you telling everyone how they didn't win when he was involved.

You just love living in the past dont you

Was there even a salary cap back then?

Someone said that the Cowboys have been "winning" since Jerry Jones took a back seat.

I pointed out how they haven't "won" since 1995, when Jerry Jones was still fully immersed.

Why would you take issue with that, John?

Jerry is a better fan than Bills fans.

He has stuck with Garrett through many disappointing seasons, tweaked the staff instead of "cleaning house", and what they now have is an established offensive system, and the proper coaching staff to develop a QB.

Garrett (HC), Linehan (OC), and Wilson (QB) are not only all former QBs, they are all former Cowboy QBs. Their entire philosophy revolves around QB success.

This has little to nothing to do with the GM.

side note: Love how you bag on Whaley for Shaq missing time, but give Cowboys credit for Jaylon Smith's future potential.

Wow that just killed the OPs thread.

ok.....lets start over here and see if you can understand it...if not ill just assume dense and let it go

Jerry jones wanted the RB....a good pick....but you could put our backups behind that line and they would look great....none the less....a very good pick

Dak Prescott is the x factor here......THEY WERE JUST LUCKY TO GET HIM.....they tried to trade up for a different QB......they didnt even initially want Prescott.....that does not make you good...that makes you lucky.

Sometimes its better to be lucky then good.

If that is the case....then I agree they got lucky.
