as I recall from the Leveon bell suspension, they make it very easy and accommodating for the players to take the test so there are no excuses.

i dont know about that Yolo..As I mentioned upthread, Ricky Williams was just on Simmons show..and he said they call you up, no matter where you are and what you are doing, you have 4 hours to pee in a cup.

And as a player in the year-round program, you have to notify the NFL if you are going to be in a place where you cannot provide a sample. If you do not notify them, and then you can't get to a place to provide a sample...failed test! Simple as that. No if, ands, or buts.

And these fools still want D. Smith to represent them.

yes, but they put themselves in the program to begin with by failing tests. He's already violated it three times to be hit with 4 games for missing a test. The first 3 violations are non-suspensions with the new policy. And if he's supposed to notify the league if he's going somewhere in case he's summoned for a test, and doesn't, that's his fault. If I'm one missed test away from a 4 game suspension and I don't take every precaution to ensure it doesn't happen, that's absurd. Edited by YoloinOhio

It's time for the NFL to get with the times. A huge number of people in their 20's smoke pot. It's legal in some states and it's about to become legal in California. It's been proven helpful to athletes that give their bodies and suffer from chronic pain. At this point, who cares if a player smokes pot on his time? Doesn't the NFL have enough issues to deal with than if a player smokes on his time away from the field?

Again, I'm 40 and I smoke plenty of pot. But if my job livelihood required me to stop, I'd stop in a heartbeat... Dareus just doesn't care about anyone but Dareus.

A huge number of people in their 20s drive drunk, have unprotected sex and do other stupid ****. Maybe we shouldn't follow the 20 year old demographic.

In the PC transcripts, MD says he found out after the game, but Rex says he found out when everyone else did a day or two ago.

How long did you know that this was coming down the pipeline?

Honestly, I didn’t know. It got released to me, and when I got it, it was like right after the game. I was notified, we talked to everyone, and from there we just kind of kept moving on, and here we are now.

At that point did you tell the team?
Of course, of course. I’m not going to waste any time.

Saturday, you mean after the preseason game?
Yes.

When did you learn about the suspension?

The same time when you guys learned, a day ago, two days ago, whatever.

There is no reason for this arcane rule nor a need to conflate with other issues like unprotected sex, which by the way, is legal or drunk driving. The reality is, people smoke pot...and so what, it doesn't affect anyone else. The forward pass used to be illegal too, but times change and so do rules.

Although it's still listed as a class 1 drug, it is now open to more studies for its benefits. "Real Sports" had a great piece on the benefits of marijuana and chronic pain. It's worth watching.

This needs to be nipped in the bud. I am not sure why people are trying to trap Rex in a "lie". Whether Rex knew Saturday or Monday, I am sure in his mind it is the exact same thing right now.

agreed on all points, but that doesn't mean making the test is easy.

What?

How is it not easy to make it to a scheduled test? Edit: people are acting like he's a five year-old. He's a grown man, and needs to act like one.

I was actually thinking the opposite - that MD maybe didn't notify them right away (not sure how the policy works if the player is notified, but not the team?)

Where do people get this BS? Nothng regarding pot " proven helpful to athletes that give their bodies and suffer from chronic pain."

I'll,say it again weed is aganst federal law period. It is a schedule 1 drug. So to the point that it's "legal in some states". Doesn't mean squat.

This is coming from somene who understands medicinal values of pot. Not just THC.

If you have links to support your "proven" claims. By all means post them.

Despite the NFL CBA policy that the player is notified 1st before the team is. Those dastardly details!

he got himself into that regime. no one...not his "mother," his highschool coach, his college program, the bills, rex ryan, anyone else...no one but MARCEL DAREUS is responsible for getting into that situation and it's on HIM to meet the requirements of the situation he put himself in. I'm sorry, but he gets no pity or understanding from me. he's a child.
