How can people be so stupid? I am assuming you would like to continue to work and cannot ask them if they've ever spent time in a communist/socialist county, and what they see as the long term viability of their creative expression if the US ever did fall to Marxism?  Are they possibly very young? What is chic in your early-20s is normally considered a dumb-ass idea by 35.

That's the funny part -- it's definitely divided by age. Most of the ones I was thinking of while writing that are in their late 20s to mid 30s. The most "woke" of the lot. But there are plenty of older folks in our professional circles, including a lot of expats from Eastern Europe who do not truck with any kind of Marxism due to their experiences growing up. But they aren't speaking up at the moment, mainly because they fear the mob and for their jobs.

I think that will change if this drags on much longer. Or at least I hope it does as we need those voices.

Two slaveowners, a hypocrite, and an imperialist (in their eyes) to be eradicated.  To be replaced by Marx, Engels, Lenin, and Biden.

Marx and Engels probably but Biden isn't a leader and the Beatles are way overrated.

Don't even have to look to Hollywood.  My one SIL is pretty far to the left.  All the kids that I am an uncle to as well.  I doubt that any of them have given any study as to what a Marxist state would look like.  You are right in that it is almost a badge of chic-ness for a lot of people.  Kind of like bisexuality was during the 1990's.  Today bisexuality is categorically dismissed as being a myth among the hard core left.  That having a relationship with a member of the opposite sex (when a same sex person is preferred) is just forced conformity.

Most of the lefty's I knew in college are still the same way decades later.  They like Tibs are deluded in thinking if they are not a part of the ruling elite will be well connected to the ruling elite so the chit will never hit them.  They never envision themselves being rounded up like cattle.

You may want to send them a few books. History as a learning tool.

Give 'em a plane ticket to Venezuela. That'll show them how quickly a well-off country with a solid middle class can devolve into a scary place where people scrape to survive.  Just make sure they like pets as an entrée, can live without shelter or cleanliness, and don't mind the armed guards.  Oh, and remind them about the lack of electricity, cell phone service, and internet.  Sell it as quiet time to write and reflect!

Biden would not normally be a consideration but there is a hyper effort by the left to sell him to the public even if he is a Trojan Horse for more nefarious people.

Protesters bring down statue of Francis Scott Key - ABC News

Why do bloggers and the news media keep calling them "protesters"? They are not out protesting anything.  They are destroying property.  I hope the Trump administration does use that federal law to make these paid-terrorists spend a few years in jail.

Protesting ends where criminal behavior begins. There are democratic and civil ways to deal with this issue.

It's mostly

protesting, peaceful, civilized. Those trying to highlight the bad apples know and feel power slipping away from them as the sun sets on this tragic mistake of a presidency

A little early for you to be in a drug induced stupor (as opposed to your own natural stupor)?

Criminal behavior is criminal behavior. I don't care what percentage is doing it. Ignoring it or minimizing it is the same as condoning it.

I think it's fair to say they're absolutely condoning it.

Won't work. Those tools think that true socialism hasn't been done correctly yet, and they're the ones to do it right; they will create a utopia where everyone else failed.

Well, they can be sure to tell those in charge in Venezuela right how to do it correctly. I am certain that will go over well.

The Fight against Statues Is a Fight against Civilization

by Conrad Black

Original Article

The movement to tear down statues or even just to deface them was misconceived in its earliest stages and has now, like most aspects of the self-flagellating fever over “systemic racism,” evolved from just concerns about offending African-American sensibilities into an assault on the entire body of achievement of Western civilization. This movement really began with the debate over whether to remove the statue of General Robert E. Lee from a main square of Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017. Serious civic discussion on a legitimate question quickly deteriorated into mob violence between Klansmen and neo-Nazis on one side and Antifa and the belligerent faction

I'll tell you the most surprising thing for me the past three weeks has been how willing people I know professionally (and socially) have been to admit they're open Marxists. That's not something they would have ever said (or believed) just a few years ago. Now, these people (most of whom are making a ton of money in media/entertainment) seem to think that it's chic to be a Marxist.

@GG for years has mentioned this. I ignored it for a long, long time -- or downplayed it. But now it's like someone turned on the light and all the roaches are staying put proudly rather than scurrying for the cover of darkness.

Imagine there was an evil empire that's been playing the long game and invested countless of intelligence resources over 70 years to plant the seeds of a "people's revolution" in its primary global foe.   Suddenly, the evil empire collapses because it couldn't support its own ideology.   Does anyone think the useful idiot sleeper cells went away in 1990 too?

A chilling warning about where the statue-toppling leads...

by Monica Showalter

Original Article

Think it can't happen here? It can happen here.

That's the warning from a young woman from Venezuela, who has seen the statue-topplings before - and the street renamings, (and the flag alterings, and the name changings) along the destruction of history, and knows exactly where it leads. She made this powerful video [Video] "Why do I even worry about some silly little statues coming down?
