And, as predicted, they are now coming for statues of Jesus, and stained glass windows depicting Him.

Just trying to keep trump and his loser evangelical phony friends from further defiling them.

This is a society where tons of people will defend Roman Polanski, Harvey Weinstein, etc,

but not Teddy Roosevelt, Ulysses S. Grant, Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.

Systemic Ignorance

by Bill Murchison

Original Article

"Systemic racism"? I wouldn't call that America's present problem. "Systemic ignorance" comes a lot closer to it -- a wonderful and telling phrase coined by an attorney friend of mine. If you don't know much of anything, what right have you to instruct those who do know? Every right, it would presently seem. In acknowledgement of which right -- oh, boy! -- you commission instructive pieces of testimony like the San Francisco overthrow of a statue representing -- are you ready? -- former President and Gen. Ulysses Simpson Grant. U.S. Grant! Grant, who accepted, at Appomattox courthouse in 1865,

Yes, the image I pulled for the words wasn't the best one.

The quote was the point...............not who it was credited to.

But I can see that in the future I will need to dumb down my replies, so that (perhaps) our resident lefties will understand.

You give them more credit than they deserve.

Riiiiiigggghhhtt. Gotcha.

I'm sure that attaching the name of a respected historical figure to a nothing quote like that was just clerical error. Who were you quoting? Who wrote that quote?

It's a pretty famous saying.................As I am sure you know.

Again, the author wasn't the point, because, as has happened the thread is being derailed by a squirrel.

"Whenever we seize a piece of land, we will remove signs of idolatry and spread monotheism."

Statements from a video in 2015.

This was horrifyingly brutish to me at the time, but it feels lofty compared to what is happening in the United States in 2020.

If you have ever been to Mt Rushmore, it would be some undertaking to do something to it. They'd probably have to bomb it. You are a million miles away from it when you enter the gates (although with a nicely centered view for photos). Where you can get close and see just how big Mt Rushmore is is on the drive down off the park. There is a place to pull over (if you are fortunate enough to get one of the unsanctioned spots), and you can see it close-up. There are park rangers all over the place. My guess (just a guess as I have no idea) is they have drones, cameras, rangers.... maybe a few bison... and are constantly tracking "mischief makers."

I'll tell you the most surprising thing for me the past three weeks has been how willing people I know professionally (and socially) have been to admit they're open Marxists. That's not something they would have ever said (or believed) just a few years ago. Now, these people (most of whom are making a ton of money in media/entertainment) seem to think that it's chic to be a Marxist.

@GG for years has mentioned this. I ignored it for a long, long time -- or downplayed it. But now it's like someone turned on the light and all the roaches are staying put proudly rather than scurrying for the cover of darkness.

If the masks have really slipped this far, we're teetering on the edge of becoming Yugoslavia in the early 1990s. That's really what a Civil War in the US would look like. It won't be neat. It won't be "one side vs another". It'll be sectarian violence within states/cities/counties.

How can people be so stupid? I am assuming you would like to continue to work and cannot ask them if they've ever spent time in a communist/socialist county, and what they see as the long term viability of their creative expression if the US ever did fall to Marxism?  Are they possibly very young? What is chic in your early-20s is normally considered a dumb-ass idea by 35.

Don't even have to look to Hollywood.  My one SIL is pretty far to the left.  All the kids that I am an uncle to as well.  I doubt that any of them have given any study as to what a Marxist state would look like.  You are right in that it is almost a badge of chic-ness for a lot of people.  Kind of like bisexuality was during the 1990's.  Today bisexuality is categorically dismissed as being a myth among the hard core left.  That having a relationship with a member of the opposite sex (when a same sex person is preferred) is just forced conformity.

Most of the lefty's I knew in college are still the same way decades later.  They like Tibs are deluded in thinking if they are not a part of the ruling elite will be well connected to the ruling elite so the chit will never hit them.  They never envision themselves being rounded up like cattle.
