@OmarKelly: #Dolphins have $20.8M in cap space right now, and if Charles Clay's $7M comes off the books if he signs with Bills it would jump to $20.8M.

Well, he's sort of right, it's just that the $7M isn't on the books yet until he signs the tender. So if he leaves it stays at 20.8M.

I will always hate the Dolphins in a special way. Besides "Oh for the 70's", watching them prance around getting tan in tee shirts and flip flops while it was getting dark outside at my house as I sat by the fire trying to thaw out..... that is one big black cloud from my childhood. (Is our hour up yet?)

yep. There is no real rivalry with NE until we manage to beat them more than once every 8 years. We have straight up annihilated the Jets 3 straight games. Miami has been more "even" though we have mostly had Tannehill's #. The thing last year where they wanted to take over the Ralph was priceless. Their fans love to trash the city of Buffalo but it was pretty funny to see them flat embarrassed by the Bills in 2 of the last 3. Edited by YoloinOhio

Actually, I think the $7M is on the books as soon as he was tagged...I may be wrong but I think I'm correct.

Nanker's brother in law's sister's cousin's hairdresser's dog walker's nephew.

I had no idea that you knew him. I shall do what I can to close that lead forthwith!

You are correct. The tags are given a pre-assigned value by the NFL before FA starts. Once the tag is used on a player, it s value counts against the cap until a deal is reached long term or if they sign an offer sheet and the original team matches it.

So how the hell did Miami end up with so much cap space? I know they dropped and traded a bunch of guys, but still...

They got the Vikes to take Wallace's contract and traded a LB who they were going to cut. Saved about 10mil.

Oh, my bad fellas, thanks for clearing that up for me regarding Clay's cap hit on the Dolphins.

(replying to your post in closed thread re clay) its so in 2 years when we need to land a lt or qb or cb that we may really need, we havent tied up a bunch of money in guys that dont produce, like we did w fitz, i think lawyer milloy, that loser guard dockery and langston walker, oh and the most guilty waste of cap space ever... kelsay. its really dumb to overspend one year, just like overspending picks to get 1 guy

Again, I understand but they are not in cap trouble and every year is different. In 2 years Kyle Williams most likely gone...McKelvin too..that's a minimum of $10M...Fred Jackson is gone after this year...almost $3M more...There are ways to sign who you want and still be under the cap.
