YoloinOhio
Buffalo Sports Guy @716SportsGuy 21s Once again, Bruce Smith had 9 sacks at age 39. Simply insane. I will be shocked if we ever see something close to it again.
BuffaloBill
Thanks for posting. It was truly an honor to see Bruce play in his prime. I know I have homey bias but I object to the notion that Reggie White is automatically better than Bruce. It maybe doesn't matter as both were great. I just take umbrage to the author's comment that Bruce held on too long to get the record. B.S. The guy still played at a very high level at the end. The other thought that I had was about Dareus. Some here will remember that when Bruce started out he was immature and selfish. Fortunately, his period of time in this funk was short. Still had he not turned it around he would have been added to the heap of huge talents that flamed out.

BUFFALOKIE
That's a $25K fine now, amiright? Bad things man. It was more fun to watch, but that play alone gives a lot of credence to the strict helmet to helmet rules of today's game. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&ei=kOTOU7qzGo6p8QHe2oCYCA&url=http://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DzrB1Yjeixr8&cd=1&ved=0CCAQuAIwAA&usg=AFQjCNEMriBOTKav_VDrgnqiGPj9_PdG_w Edited July 22, 2014 by THE KIKO MONSTER

I will be shocked if we ever see something close to it again. I saw him a few weeks ago. Not sure how old he is now but I would bet he's still good for 5 sacks. Dude is still in amazing shape. I don't think he even got a penalty. Probably because nobody but the TV cameras saw what happened.

Very close and open for question. IMO the way the game should be played. A hard shot but that us more on the lack of blocking that gave Bruce a clean shot. Over 29 years of fanhood
Bruce = G O A T Reggie was second to Bruce. The guy would literally take over games.... He was a better DE in a 3-4 than than Reggie in a 4-3.... With 2 tackles and an end he may have had 50 more sacks.
machine gun kelly
He was the man. for the guys too young to see him live back in the day, i still remember the pancacke tackle of hostetler in the SB in the first half against the Giants. He was so disruptive.

A hard shot but that us more on the lack of blocking that gave Bruce a clean shot. After further review, I think you are correct. At first glance, to me, it looked like crown to face mask. But actually it was more of a glancing blow. I still think that helmets collided, but not a blatant heat shot. Mostly squared up shoulder pad to shoulder pad side of helmet to side of helmet. Probably still would have resulted in a fine though.
