Makes sense because we all know you must have you're best Offensive Lineman playing at the Left Guard position. You can't win a SuperBowl unless you do. Left Tackle is soooooo over rated.

This. And/or seeing who can play LT should Glenn go down.

And/or moving Glenn to LG.

Always cracks me up reading the first few posts when something unexpected is done.

We have no idea what they are thinking. Marrone has had some dominant guards in Brandon Moore and Carl Nix play for him in his NFL past and Glenn has been having some difficulty pass blocking against Pettine's D.

So, kind of like this?

hmmm...wonder if they're just experimenting, or they really like Welch...either way, interesting.

Welch is a journeyman on his 7th NFL contract. I can't imagine this is anything more than to see if welch can fill in in an emergency. Maybe also to see if cordy can blow away the middle for short yardage. Could be a referendum on current LG play.

If they want to see how Welch plays against first team DL, why not simply put him in with the first stringers? Why also move Glenn to LG?

Looks to be more of a continuing concern with LG than anything else.

Maybe it's motivation tactic to the other players attempting to play LG. It certainly would send that message.

In the end, we don't know or won't know until after practice.

Yes yours was the exception. Not really sure why you felt the need to say nothing at all, but there you go.

Fans often choose to ignore things because they don't want to consider the possibility. Gaughan and Graham said the tackle play was awful in the scrimmage the other night. We have been hearing direct from Marrone that the LG spot has been a problem. So by all means, fans should just assume that they are seeing if Welch can handle spot duty at LT. And Nanker should post something strange about it. It's not unlike Buddy Nix telling everyone that they wanted Stevie Johnson playing in the slot and then having it happen in camp 6 months later and be a surprise to many.
