Manny Lawson article

Recommended Posts

The irony that this guy slams the Bills as a half rate organization yet he works in a third rate media market for the only paper in town, that has a declining readership and writes nothing of substance. He should look in the mirror when insinuating someone is mediocre. He's nothing but a mediocre crank whose dream of writing for a Boston paper failed miserable.

Well said ... Normally, I simply just consider the source, and it usually doesn't compel me to start up a thread. But I just re-read the paper version, and I see they even did a front cover tease to this embarrassment of an article ... it's just so condescending that it makes me want to throw up. The guy has barely even practiced in a Bills helmet yet.

I can hardly wait to see Sully squirm and try to pry information out of Coach Marrone this fall.

Thank you, I could not have said it better myself.

Sullivan should be arrested for stealing from the News. He writes the same negative drivel repeatedly changing only to target the Bills or the Sabres at his whim. "Reporters" like him pass off their lack of knowledge and their incredible disregard for being remotely polite in any situation as "hard reporting" - "if they can't stand the heat, they shouldn't be pro athletes", but really absolutely NOTHING qualifies Sullivan to have any better opinion than any person who watches football on TV.

What was the purpose of this pathetic article? Manny Lawson is a professional athlete that is working hard on maintaining his career to the best of his ability. The Bills signed him to a reasonable contract offer for a guy who has a chance to compete for a starting position. They did not pay him $8M/year.

I don't read many of Sullivan's articles and when he is on WGR, I almost always change the station after 1 minute and scream at the radio "Shut the F**k up A**hole!"

Thanks, your response makes me quite glad I started the thread. I seriously doubt the interview was the least bit contentious (as Sully certainly tries to imply), and it even started out with a nice little family-is-important theme, but devolved into what I'll call a total hit job. It reads as if Lawson is barely worth a squirt of piss as a player.

No, I wouldn't agree with anything you've said.

Barnett was miserable last year which is probably why he isn't in the league right now.

Right. Wrong. I heard on the radio I think, that Barnett failed a physical. Further he was taking a physical in Washington for the Redskins. Nick was a cool guy and had a great year and a bad year. Thanks and c ya.

Well that clears up everything.

Lawson was brought here for one reason, he used to play with Mario at NC State. There is no other reason why he was selected. He's not a starter. The team is once again looking for lightning to strike twice.

All we need now is to bring McCargo back for the full compliment of NC State's DL draftee's that year.

If this is true (and I don't think it is) than the Bills are more fugged (or just as fugged for some) as some think they are.

It's not true. I've actually never read anything that stupid before, to be honest. Never.

I didn't want to muddy the water  I honestly dont recall why he had a physical with us in February and that he failed. Why would he have had a physical with us that early and then be cut? But I was passing along what I heard on the radio about the fact the redaskins worked him out and were giving him a physical. Expect him to sign today with them honestly.

Based on your theory we would have kept Anderson who played only one less year with Mario than Manny but played with him much more recently. "Here's one for you, why did they release Barnett? Seems to me he was by far and away the best LB." Lumping the Manny discussion with Barnett is like saying we drafted Gragg to replace Donald Jones. I'll refer to SJBF on your football knowledge.

"Barnett may have been miserable (hurt yourself there) but he lead the team in tackles. And for as bad as you say he was I'm glad that you view Lawson, Scott, White, Hughes, Brown, Bradham, and Pough as better. Or the rookies." Thanks for your analysis but I think I'll side with Pettine on this one.

Yes. No. I read on the PFT, I think, that Barnett was visiting the Skins. Further he will be required to take a physical in Washington for the Redskins. Nick was a cool guy and had is a good player and a bad player. Warmest regards.

Your credibility may have dropped below zero with this line alone. You could not have watched any Bills games last season.

Barnett was the worst player at any position on the field last year - it wasn't even close. It was so obvious to the Pats* that Tom Brady once ran an entire TD drive where he specifically targeted Barnett (successfully) with either a pass or run EVERY SINGLE PLAY. Barnett was THAT bad. He used to be pretty good, bu the hit the age wall hard and he is gone as he should be.

Ummm nope. The pats ran at Bryan Scott playing MLB early and often and frequently. I watched the games too. Ur wrong.

Barnett had a bad year but was still on of the better LBs in a sorry group.

HAHAHA often AND frequently? They did run at Scott quite a bit (you could say repeatedly) but there was also a drive where Barnett was picked on the entire length of the field. Want my Game Rewind password so you can see for yourself?

He's right. Identifying the mike backer doesn't mean you're going to run at him. EVERY QB (or center) IDENTIFIES THE MIKE ON EVERY PLAY.

I hate how "43 is the mike" has turned into some kind of meme here that is used to praise Brady and/or rag on Scott.

I like the guy, but Barnett hit a wall and I think a big part of the D's problem was guys trying to compensate for him.

Does anyone know what qualifies Sullivan to write/talk about football? Im serious. Does he have a history around the game or anything?

Did I miss something? When has Sullenman ever written anything that was actually about football, or sports at all, for that matter? I thought he only produced poorly written opinion pieces that, while attempting to elevate himself above both the subject and the reader by way of relentless unqualified criticism, only serve to highlight his contempt for people in general and his utter lack of professional achievement. Sports in general just happen to be a convenient vehicle to allow him to continue to bang that drum.

No you have confused him with DC Tom.
