Bills Fan888
How much for rookies? I keep hearing around 5 million. Well with that much we better be getting either Dansby or Moore.
Dr. Trooth
holy cap space. Browns, Bengals and Jags have a boat load of space. How do they get to the 90% spend level between now and Sept.?

Mr. WEO
I think I read you can roll it over As for us, thats Byrd, Rookies and Dansby Byrd's tag isn't counted against the cap yet?
atlbillsfan1975
Byrd's tag isn't counted against the cap yet? Good question. He has not signed the offer yet, so i would guess not? Unless that figure takes into consideration the Tag number since it would most likely be worst case scenario?
910BillsFan
So the 49ers have $825,000 in cap space and what 11 picks? Are they going to have to cut people to sign their rookies?

I was wondering the same thing. Any of you guys know how a team that has less than $5 million can sign rookies?? The Niners have $800k...doesn't that mean they will be over the cap at some point?? The Niners have $800k...doesn't that mean they will be over the cap at some point?? One part of the equation is that only your top 51 players count against the cap. The 49ers are a pretty stacked team so not many of them are going to make the top 51.

Thanks - hence the reason why there was no need to panic when we didn't sign 10 free agents on Day 1 & 2 of Free Agency...there will be alot of "drop apples" after training camp. Dibs
http://www.overtheca....php?Team=Bills As only the top 51 contracts are counted towards the cap........it will work out that the 4th, 5th & 6th rounders will not count. That estimate would then only be 3.77m. One part of the equation is that only your top 51 players count against the cap. The 49ers are a pretty stacked team so not many of them are going to make the top 51. But the top ones will. Looking at these two pages.... http://www.overthecap.com/rookiepool.php?Team=49ers http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/cap-hit/ .....the 49ers first 4 picks will count.....for an estimated total of $3.4m. They are going to need to re-structure or cut somebody to make it under the cap.

Agreed. I didn't mean to imply that they were going to have to have a fire sale or something similar.....just that they can't stand with their current roster/contracts with their rookies. Saint Doug
So the 49ers have $825,000 in cap space and what 11 picks? Are they going to have to cut people to sign their rookies? They have 13 picks and probably only 2-3 positions not completely locked down. I'm sure between their stacked roster and lack of cap space to sign them, they will either have to trade the picks away or cut a bunch of draftees later. Definitely worth taking a look by Nix if they decide to draft and cut them later.
