I may have to get that insurance company on the phone- the one that talks about eliminating the middle man. Wait till you find out how they go about doing that

Believe me....if I could find a way to eliminate myself from this nonsense thread...without feeling like, "no, I have to go back in there, and kick this phony and/or zealot's ass once and for all, because apparently the last time I did it wasn't enough", I would.

Until somebody does, I fear we will have to keep enduring endless "Did you notice that I'm cooler, more urbane and erudite than you are, because I support gay marriage?" threads/posts.

And this clown calls me a narcissist? Hysterical.

It' so strange that you consider this anyone's problem but your own.

Seriously, spend a couple minutes thinking about this.

Buddy, you matter when you show up more.

Nobody cares what a guy who shows up once every never has to say about me trying to permanently end an irrational poster's crusade, that has been going on for at least 2 years.

Get some context, or GTFO.

As I posted earlier, this thread has attracted quite a few people that rarely post here.

I try to avoid the gratuitous name-calling present on the board, but you sir are a buffoon.

After reading for the fourth or fifth time how "No One will answer me" childishness, when throughout the several pages there have been reasoned responses and links to other articles that you either chose to ignore, read - but did not agree with or read --but did not comprehend (sadly, I suspect the latter)

Lets look at your last response again;

You state that this is your belief and then whine that no one will try and change your mind.

Well its obviously closed, so naturally you wouldn't accept any discussion anyway. THATS why you're not getting a response.

I repeat myself, you sir, are a buffoon.

I've read all of the bullsh!t posts in this thread and clicked on all of the bullsh!t links provided. The argument that gay marriage will negatively impact society is weak.

I'm not sure smart people and rednecks will ever fully agree on this particular issue because smart people generally believe that:

1. A deity that is concerned about the particular affairs of humans on Earth, including their sex lives, is about as likely to exist as Santa Claus.

2. Homosexual orientation is not a conscious choice; it is due to a complex combination of genetics and early uterine environment.

3. Homosexual behavior is as natural as heterosexual behavior, and it has various evolutionary reasons for existing within species despite not directly contributing to reproduction.

All of the above can be learned by opening up books other than the Bible or whatever you purchased at the Liberty/Regent/Oral Roberts University campus stores.

Once you Brawndo guzzlers reach a better understanding of reality (the domain that us smug big-city Americans live in), you will then very quickly reach the rational conclusion that - by the Golden Rule moral principle - gays are entitled to the same equal rights as straight people. All of the political posturing, pedantic legal wordings, and deeply ingrained cultural traditions fall by the wayside to this one a priori truth of civilized human behavior. To conclude otherwise is not logically backed by anything other than bigotry and douchebaggery.

Don't worry; you religious nutjobs and your ridiculous churches can still privately choose to not recognize gay marriages. The point is that only the government will have to, and society will be all the better for it. Heteros can still marry and divorce at the same rates as before. Dogs can still not be allowed to marry cats. You can still make fun of fags in public while jerking off to their porn in private. Life in America will go on, and maybe us adults can then go back to the adult table and start addressing more serious, difficult topics like - for example - the economy.

BUT BUT BUT....it's about the dictionary! When I look up marriage it's says man and women! Obama can't change MY WORD! MARRIAGE IS A WORD! IT'S ABOUT THE WORD! Plus in places where gay marriage happens the society has been slowly destroyed! And I'm utterly petrified my kid will be gay if he is I want society to help me oppress him and make him feel crappy about it! Plus it's against what I think God thinks! I'm SOOOOO angry about gay people!! Now they're just like me? What? ahhhhhhh!!!!

So you're saying that people who believe in God are dumb and only smart people don't believe in God? What a jack ass.

People who believe in God and have personal prejudice against whoever =/= dumb. People who believe in God and use that to transport their personal prejudice to take away legal rights of fellow humans = dumb. Pretty simple to understand that it's not God that nonreligious people get annoyed by or people who believe in him (as most atheists have at least some family and loved ones who are religious). It's when public policy is restricted by religion. Can't your beliefs be your beliefs? And not societies?

No need for for me to bother, but for anyone else on the board who has the misfortune to have read Mr. Miller's last response, I would point out the obvious lack of understanding of how religious people think and ALL people for that matter. His self-proclaimed knowledge on the subject apparently doesn't realize that there are many non-religious, and indeed many Gay people who do not support Gay Marriage, but that is beyond his vast "readings"

So to his own detriment, and ours for having read it, he falls back on insults and cliches as his way of proving his point.

It seems that I overestimated him by calling him a buffoon, he is nothing but the same garden variety bigot that he thinks he is over.

I think you protest just a little too much. If you wanted to talk about the economy you could. You have chosen to keep the conversation about men who put their dicks in men. It is your choice to talk about that rather than the economy. Do you actually know anything about economics? Do you want to share your big city insights? Can you speak about the economy without trying to denigrate religion? Do all of you heterophobics get this whiny and bitchy when you feel slighted?

If there is one thing that this thread has proven, is that some people who have religious views are intolerant, and that some people who dont hold those religious views are equally intolerant.

Both sides that hold these views suck.

I don't think people standing up for equality suck.

I didn't get married in a Church or by a Religious Official. I got married by a Justice of the Peace and got a government certificate so I'm entitled to all the protections that go with that. I simply don't understand why homosexual couples aren't afforded the same rights I am in this regard.

I think Churches should be allowed to discriminate on whatever boundaries they desire, just like I think there should be private clubs that can exclude people based on religion, sex, orientation, color, whatever. BUT THE GOVERNMENT CAN'T BE AFFORDED THE SAME LUXURY. It's against the very principles this country was founded upon (spare me the slave ownership/suffrage/etc arguments, they're irrelevant now).

yes, all rednecks are against gay marriage and are very hateful people. Therefore you should be able to relate to them.

Well said and by a man I am currently hating on in another thread. Isn't politics wonderful? :D

Anyway, even though I can admit that people on both sides can sometimes do/say things that suck. The truth is, "both sides" don't suck. The side that wants to oppress people with government power sucks.

Okay, then I will withdraw myself from this conversation. I've said all that I wanted to say (post # 36, 41, 50, 55, 64, 67, 74, 94, 103, 113, 118, 129, 168).

Alaska Darin did a great, polite, concise job of articulating the argument of the pro-gay marriage crowd with post #175. Let's now see how the OCinBuffalo/RkFast/B-Man/Adam/3rdlng/LABillzfan crowd counters.

I agreed with much of what you and AD said. I was, however offended by your talk about backwards redneck idiots, as you don't seem to know much about them.
