why are fans excited about the draft
PastaJoe replied to Poland's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We can't get excited over the coach, the current roster, the probable lack of impact free agent players that will be brought in, or the tough schedule next year, so the only thing left is the draft. -
The ref ruled that he made an intentional motion with his arm to direct the puck into the net. Using any part of your body to intentionally direct the puck into the net is not allowed. It's a judgement call on intent, but that's what he ruled. It would have counted if he had not moved his arm, and it hit him and went in.

Major Plane Crash in Clarence Center (50 dead)
PastaJoe replied to PTS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would you want to rebuild on the spot that the crash occurred on, and the effect that hearing planes fly over the house would have? I would expect that the wife would want to move someplace where she would feel safe. Plus I would expect the combination of insurance and a payout from the airlines would pay for any rebuild. -
I like the comedy routine (it might be Chris Rock) has about guns. He says that there should be no ban on guns, but each bullet should be taxed so it costs $15000. That would make people really think about when to use them.

Not having book smarts doesn't make one dumb, just less educated. There's plenty of people who went to college that are dumb. The difference between hockey players and some football players may be that hockey players usually come from two parent families with middle to upper incomes, which is necessary to fund the equipment and travel required for top players. Some football players come from urban areas where they grew up around negative influences, and had single parents (no father figure) to provide positive male role models. So some football players have more social issues to overcome. Some do and mature, and some don't and end up in bad behavior.

IF (and I say IF) the Lynch Rumor is True
PastaJoe replied to /dev/null's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Bills feel their top priority is the running game, then instead of using the 1st pick on a RB, they should use it on an OL. You can run an average back behind a quality line, but you can't run a quality back behind an average line. Denver is the example to follow. If Lynch is out for a period, they will need someone to spell Jackson, and the better route is to get a FA veteran. -
Schmucky Chucky Schumer calls critics the Chattering Class
PastaJoe replied to Wacka's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
This is hilarious, so much anger from the laissez-faire lemmings who think that tax cuts for the wealthy and corporate welfare are the answers for all our economic problems. Well too bad, you had 6 years of control to prove trickle down works, and it failed. Where's all the jobs we were promised that the wealthy would shower upon us? And now you have the nerve to moan about a Recovery AND Relief package (it's not just a stimulus) that has such "pork" as providing funds to retain police and firemen, extend unemployment benefits, and renovate schools. I leave you with the immortal words of some of you after Bush was selected by the SCOTUS. "Get over it!" -
Who Would Make the Biggest Impact for the Bills
PastaJoe replied to Kenwick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd say ILB Mauluga would make the quickest big impact. They could move Poz to outside, and with Mitchell that would give them a quick, hard hitting, quality set of LBs that could play every down. If they get a DL, they'll platoon him so he won't get as many plays. -
What is the best meal you have ever eaten?
PastaJoe replied to BuffaloBill's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Elephant ears were big oval shaped, 5-6" across, fluffy but crunchy, topped with a sugary white frosting. I've never found polish sausage or potato pancakes that tasted as good as the homemade stuff. My aunt who made the sausage never measured the ingredients, just used the handful and pinch of spices method. She would let me turn the handcrank grinder she used to fill the casings. -

What is the best meal you have ever eaten?
PastaJoe replied to BuffaloBill's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Homemade polish sausage and potato pancakes that two of my departed aunts used to make, with fresh rye bread and a butter lamb for Easter, and chrusciki (angel wings) and elephant ear cookies for dessert. -
Electric razors are much better if you have sensitive skin or get alot of nicks and cuts. I've been using Norelcos for a long time, I bought my latest tripleheader rechargable last year for about $80 that you can clean with water. It cuts close enough that I shave every other day, and has the trimmer for moustache and sideburns. I'd grow a beard before going back to blades. My whiskers grow in different directions, especially on my neck, and I could never get a close shave with a blade without nicks trying to go over the same area multiple times.

Schmucky Chucky Schumer calls critics the Chattering Class
PastaJoe replied to Wacka's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
And you are !@#$ing clueless. I'll settle for scary. -
Pay more attention to what he says and not how he says it, and you would here the coherent answers.

Schmucky Chucky Schumer calls critics the Chattering Class
PastaJoe replied to Wacka's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Funny how the "patriots" have suddenly had a revelation that we shouldn't spend money now that they're not in the majority and after they ran up the largest deficits and spending in our history. The wealthy got their time at the trough, but now that middle class Americans need some help, they're playing politics. Sorry, but America rejected their failed trickle down policies in the 2006 and 2008 elections. So instead of offering constructive input, the majority of Republicans have made the calculated political decision to be obstructionists at the peril of our economy, gambling that if recovery takes a long time they can argue that the recovery policies didn't work, and if the do work they figure Obama will get the credit anyway, so why bother. It's unfortunate that more of them haven't broken out of their old habits and followed the lead of "patriotic" Republicans like Sens. Snowe, Collins, Spector, and Gov. Christ, and put country ahead of party. -
The questions are not canned, at every White House press conference a president has a list of the reporters on the podium that he references to call upon, so that all the prominent television and news agencies are represented. I'd rather have a president that pauses to contemplate the question and form a coherent answer than one that shoots from the mouth without much thought. What next, a critique of his ties?

Nobody was talking about her until you started this thread.

There's still good cartoons from the past few years, but they're mostly on at night on Cartoon Network. All the Bruce Timm shows (Justice League, Batman, Superman), Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Venture Brothers, and some of the old school cartoons like Jonny Quest and the Herculoids.

Lincoln Penny, first change in fifty years
PastaJoe replied to millbank's topic in Off the Wall Archives
It's time to get rid of the penny. Round everything to the nearest nickel. The only reason we still have it is for marketing purposes so a product can be sold at $4.99 instead of $5 to make people feel like they're spending a dollar less. -
I would say that SE Asia is a very important area. She's going to China, Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia. China and Japan are closely tied to our economy, the issue of North Korea's nuclear ambitions still have to be resolved, and Indonesia has the world's largest Muslim population. Obama is multitasking foreign policy with Biden working Europe and Russia, Mitchell in the Middle East, Holbrooke in Afganistan/Pakistan, and Clinton in Asia. There are too many international issues that were left unresolved for just one person to single task.

Romney's ideas sound similar to what Obama is trying to do, but Romney would have a harder time getting it done without a Republican majority in Congress. I think McCain would have been clueless about what to do, other than the old failed tax cuts for the wealthy trickle down policy that would not have passed Congress. So as bad as the times are, I think of the possible candidates Obama has the best chance of getting some bipartisan agreement on a substantial comprehensive stimulus. And most economic experts believe it will probably take multiple packages before it's all over.

Somebody has to do the jobs, extended hours means either more staff or overtime for existing staff, and you need construction/plumbing/carpentry type workers to redo the restrooms. You're either insuring the current providers of the services stay employed, or are hiring new workers for the increased workload.

I don't buy the boy's story. We're supposed to believe that the room was pitch black dark, she never spoke, and he couldn't tell the difference between his girlfriend's body and this woman's.

Once they get healthy, it's time for Darcy to pull the trigger, move Max and Tallinder, and get a gritty 2nd line veteran in for the playoff run. Someone like Keith Tkachuk.

I thought this was a thread about another furniture store closing in Buffalo.
