  1. It's another weak attempt to equate health insurance reform with death panels to scare the uninformed.
  2. Too bad for you that she beat out your two favorites; Lady Gaga and Sarah Palin.
  3. When you know the policies are correct, you don't have to constantly defend them. Insecurity or a lack of confidence in the direction of an administration compells some to go on the defensive. Unlike the right with Bush, I'm confident in the current policy directions, and therefore don't really worry about the right thinks. Debate wouldn't change your views anyways, so why bother. Since you asked, I always supported the war in Afghanistan, and still do. And we now are in the process of moving combat forces out of Iraq and closing Gitmo, where previously there was no such committment. If Gitmo was handled properly in the past, the detainees would have already faced some form of justice, and it would be a moot point now. Sheehan's main gripe was with Iraq, which I agreed was the wrong war at the wrong time. If she thinks we should get out of Afghanistan, then I disagree with her on that seperate issue. And I've never had a problem with gov't spending, and realize that much of the current spending is to get us out of a historic recession and prevented a depression. Cutting taxes while paying for two wars was stupid, but the problem there was reducing the income, not the spending (I opposed the Iraq invasion, but supported spending for the military to maximize their abilities). My only issue is the hypocracy of the Republicans and their supporters who scream about spending now that they're out of power, but did nothing to stop it and increased it when they were in power. Most of the Republicans in Congress who now complain were there when they were increasing the spending.
  4. Just as much as you believe your bull, bub. Many of those independents are just Republicans who turned in their cards, given that only 22% of people now identify themselves as Republicans. So I don't worry about those skewed independent numbers. The gain in independents is offset by the loss of Republicans, so in the end they're the same group of voters.
  5. At this time in their 1st terms Bush 41 was at 71% and lost reelection, and Clinton was at 53% and Reagan was at 49% and both won reelection. People are frustrated that the problems that accumulated over the past decade can't be quickly fixed, but as health insurance reform passes, the economy improves, and progress is made in Afghanistan, his numbers will stabilize and improve. Short term thinking is what got us into many of the problems that are now being solved with long term solutions.
  6. It loses points for having hotties for wives instead of the more realistic looking ones that drive men to other distractions.
  7. The new coach will come from the UFL.
  8. He's going to come back to Buffalo...in the last game when the Colts sit Manning and let JP get some game time against the Bills.
  9. I sat in the audience once when I was a kid. On the right side of the studio was the Rocketship 7 set, and the Dialing for Dollars set was on the opposite side. I was a little disappointed at how simple the set really was. And I spilled my bottle of orange soda on myself.
  10. What's happened to Lee Evans, he's completely disappeared from the offense.
  11. Canada will close the border next year to prevent the continued importing of an inferior product.
  12. I'm watching the game live off this site: http://www.channelsurfing.net/watch-nfl.html
  13. Really? How about the Patriot Act, preemptive invasion based predetermined conclusions, and torturing captured enemies? Were those S.O.P. throughout our history?
  14. Check how many times you've posted in this thread compared to me, and then tell me who's obsessing.
  15. Define 'errors'. Do they include her versions of the truth that are disputed by others, such as by John McCain? Or are those considered lies? http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/67969-m...for-troopergate Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who spoke to The Hill Monday evening, denied Sarah Palin’s allegation that his campaign stuck her with a $50,000 legal bill to pay for the cost of vetting her as a potential vice presidential candidate. McCain said the bill was for legal work related to allegations that Palin made improper use of her influence as Alaska’s governor to press for the dismissal of a state trooper named Mike Wooten. Wooten was embroiled in a custody dispute with Palin’s younger sister, Molly McCann. “That was addressed by Trevor Potter,” said McCain, “That was over the troopergate.”
  16. Did I miss something in the last election? Were registered voters denied the right to vote for the candidate of their choice? That damn liberal media didn't report it. All the sacrifices of our forefathers and their traditional American ideals to give the right to vote to land-owning white men, then all white men, then minorities and women. Oh how I wax nostalgic for the days when only some of the people got to vote, just the people that knew what was best for the rest of us. Damn that Obama administration for ruining that tradition.
  17. She never served, she just showed her 5 deferments from when she had better things to do.
  18. I don't have any sympathy for drunk drivers. If you do the crime, you should do the time, regardless of who your parents are. Especially if you're old enough to know better.
  19. Of course, and I believe it will do both. Some of you don't. We're not going to change each other's minds, so it is what it is.
  20. No, the Republicans didn't do the same thing, they didn't legislate for a comprehensive reform of health insurance that would increase coverage for the majority of the uninsured while reducing long-term costs. I don't support a bill like the one you describe, since that isn't what's being proposed. Both the House and Senate bills were scored by the CBO as reducing the deficit by different amounts, and they don't even include the less tangible savings that will result from improved efficiencies. The CBO is the most non-partisan assessment that is available.
  21. When was the last time EITHER party tackled that issue? The only difference is which interests the money is wasted on. I missed where Bush and the Republican Congress reduced the deficit and debt, and didn't contribute to the problem. The CBO scored the latest Senate health plan, and The CBO estimates the proposal would reduce the federal deficit by about $130 billion over the next 10 years. But Republicans only point out the initial cost, not the fact that overall we end up saving money. A talking point fallacy regarding the current Senate proposal, unless you want to eliminate Medicare and Medicaid. A public option is not a mandate, if you don't want gov't run health care, then don't choose that OPTION. You have the freedom to vote for whoever you prefer. Just because you can't get a majority of people to agree with you doesn't mean you've lost your freedom. You've just lost your argument. The Republicans are not serious about health insurance reform, which is what this really is. If they were, they would have taken action when they had the White House and the Congress. What they offer now are some last minute plans so they can say they have something to cover their arses. They have no credibility on offering reform, because they never do it when they are in the majority.
  22. Good, when they do that and then filibuster, it will just remind voters that the 'Just Say No' Republican party is void of solutions.
  23. More likely Shanahan......Dallas or Washington Haslett or Fassel.....Buffalo
  24. Too bad you equate those of us who believe in the rule of law and the Constitution as "hand wringers". I don't believe in your Taliban-style preference to just kill those in detention without a day in court. Previous terrorists like the blind sheik and Timothy McVeigh went through our judicial system without incident and were found guilty.
  25. I was unemployed for 6 months after the economy tanked last fall and the company I worked at had layoffs in April. But I found a job last month with better growth potential. In the last month a bought an American made washer and had a new driveway put in. Hopefully that helped someone else keep or get a job. The economy is slowly getting better, there is hope for people that are unemployed.
