President cancels Eagles trip to White House
PastaJoe replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Torrey Smith has become the first player from the Eagles’ Super Bowl championship team to react publicly to President Trump calling off the team’s visit to the White House. Smith now plays for the Panthers. “So many lies smh,” Smith tweeted. “Here are some facts: 1. Not many people were going to go. 2. No one refused to go simply because Trump “insists” folks stand for the anthem. 3. The President continues to spread the false narrative that players are anti military.” The President cited the national anthem as the reason for canceling the visit, with the Eagles expected to send only a small contingent. It is not yet known how many players intended to make the trip. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/06/04/torrey-smith-refers-to-president-trumps-statement-as-so-many-lies/amp/?__twitter_impression=true -
President cancels Eagles trip to White House

Their issue is with a president they perceive as sympathetic to racists, and who came to political prominence by pushing the Birther conspiracy. Since the Bills don’t have a chance, heres to the Eagles winning next year so Trump can have another tantrum. -
My dislike of Boston teams started with the Celtics, when they were just a bit better than the Braves and would beat them in the playoffs. Then the Bruins joined in. I used to like the Red Sox of Carl Yastrzemski. And I didn’t mind the Patriots until the Belichek Brady era. So now I dislike them all, though I’d root for the Red Sox over the Yankees, but most others over both.

If a player from both teams kneels, are they offsetting penalties, so no difference except for fine?

Agree with those who’ve said the bigger issue of the demise of local papers is going to mean less scrutiny of local issues, and more dependence on generic national stories. Less information results in a dumbing down of voters who vote on style over substance. I always enjoyed Jerry’s willingness to rip the scab off sports issues, and missed him when he stopped appearing on WGR. But his passion is basketball and baseball, which unfortunately are not the top sports in Buffalo. I worry about our dependence on all things electronic. We’re only one good EMP pulse away from everyone scrambling to museums to get the old hand crank printing presses out and finding cars without electronic ignitions. I ask my son who does web design, what skills do you have to survive if the electrical grid went out.

The Biggest Whiffs In Buffalo Bills History

The biggest issue has been QB. The Bills not making a better offer to trade up to draft Ben Roethlisberger. -

Just don’t let Brandon Beane pick for them, he’ll take Rasmus Allen. -
WGR Hosts Scared Of On-Air Confrontation

No, I’m saying I would rather they let the Cards trade up for Allen and the Bills paid the lower price for Rosen. -

No, I’m saying the Bills could have got the better QB like the Cards ended up with at a lower price. Now the Cards have lucked into the better pick thanks to the Bills. I’d rather the Bills got Rosen with the moves the Cards made. What you call bias, others would call having a unique perspective on the effect certain words have on those targeted by them. -
WGR Hosts Scared Of On-Air Confrontation

I thought there was another Buffalo station that talked sports, WECK with Brad Riter and Nick Mendola. Isn’t that where the Buffalo News sports reporters sometimes appear? Re: hosts calling to trade up for QB and then saying they gave up too much. Their issue isn’t the trade up, but who they picked. They didn’t think Allen was worth trading so much for compared to the other QBs, including Rosen. And after seeing what Arizona gave up to get Rosen, the Bills could have done the same at less cost for a more NFL ready QB. -
WGR Hosts Scared Of On-Air Confrontation

1. Their issue isn’t with Allen per se, but with the people who traded up to pick him. So when Allen was interviewed, they weren’t going to take it up with him. Like it wasn’t CJ Spiller’s fault when he was drafted when they didn’t need a RB. I’m glad that they did question him on his racial comments that were revealed. Schopp is sensitive to the issue given his adopted black children. If Beane was on, they’d question why not Rosen, or Watson or Mahones last year instead; more NFL ready QBs. Or how the big hands in bad weather argument doesn’t pan out if you look at the actual weather most Bills games have had. 2. Sal is always reluctant to criticize the Bills since he’s the sideline reporter and has to interact with the team. The hosts respectfully disagree with some of his views when he’s on, but they realize he’s never going to outright say the Bills are wrong, so why push it. And Sal does acknowledge that he understands that many fans disagree with the pick. 3. They get some wacky callers who think the Bills can do no wrong, when history shows otherwise. The argument that the scouts know more than the hosts so they should shut up, while the record shows the Bills have had some terrible draft results. -
Opinions on why we passed on Rosen?
PastaJoe replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pegulas, like many of the owners as evidenced by the audio of their meeting, are afraid of players who will publicly take a stand for positive social justice by taking a knee or speaking out. Fortunately there are a couple, who like the NBA, are not afraid of a crazy tweet or misunderstanding fans and don’t let it cloud their judgement on who’s the best on-field talent. -
All Josh Allen haters. Please respond below

Not the worst, just not the right one to trade up for. Should have been Rosen; more pro ready and accuracy. It would have been acceptable if they didn’t have a chance at Rosen, and Allen dropped to them. In hindsight, I would rather they had drafted Watson or Mahones last year. -
So you’re idea of a great kid is one who sends racist remarks, while speaking out for positive social change is BS. Moronic.

“I don’t want a divided locker room, so I am supporting both Black Lives Matter and White Supremacy.”
-
“Dividing the locker room” is overblown. We have co-workers we disagree with on many different issues, but when it comes to work you put it aside and work towards mutual success. A blocker isn’t going to think they’re going to let Rosen get sacked because of a social difference of opinion, they’re in the moment thinking about their job, which is protecting the QB. And if they don’t do it they’ll get replaced.
