Make or Break season for Trent Edwards?
bladiebla replied to Solomon Grundy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's make or break season for Jauron, that basicly translates to other key positions as well. -
NFL Beat writers Mock draft

Hmmm, there is plenty of LB quality available in FA still, so why would you draft a LB? -
ROFL too true...

The Bills OL From Left To Right
bladiebla replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
“He has tremendous upside,” Owens said of Edwards. “He’s an accurate passer. One of the things I asked my receiver coach [Tyke Tolbert] is how many times was he sacked this year. [Edwards was sacked 23 times.] With that being said he’s getting protection, and if he’s getting protection we’re going to get open.” Source: http://www.terrellowens.com//news/news.php?newsid=511 So it looks like the Bills told TO that they would be upgrading their o-line. What worries me is that even if we manage to fill the oline with pure top quality players, fresh olines need a full season to develop and wont start to blossom untill late in the season/their second year. The whole situation spells trouble. -

The Bills have an odd way of doing biz
bladiebla replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Basicly it's fear of another holdout, which will hurt the offense more so this year then last year with all the changes on the line. Fred Jackson? That seems like normal contract negotiations to me. Personally the FO worries me as well as it seems they are trying to communicate to Peters through the Bills website which in turn brings back bad memories of broken contact etc... -
Fred Jackson has clearly stated that he wanted to renew his contract with the Bills and remain a Bill untill the end of his career adding to that, that he wanted the Bills to show their commitment to him by signing him to a multiyear deal (3-5 years is what he said). He was tendered an offer in order to prevent him from becoming a free agent, this can be explained in a couple of ways but the bottomline is that they are still negotiating. However him being without a valid contract at the moment doesn't allow him to participate in the ota's. The title of the thread is misleading. Peters is not showing up by choice, Jackson isn't allowed to show up.

IMHO news like this is leaked to increase his trade value (we really don't want him to go but if you trade us your #1 draft pick for the next ten years we might reconsider, see the Cutler drama). It basicly puts the ball back in the JP camp, if they bring out the story that he really isnt happy with what is offered etc then it will be trade time soon enough.

Bleh Pro Bowl is so overrated. It's just a popularity poll and has a lot less to do with who is actually the better player in a position.

Which thread is that please? I did do a search prior to posting but only got two hits dating back to 2008.

http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2009/04/03/i...u-can-tell-him/ Hmmm interesting, he could a bit of a gamble, he's a good blocker for sure yet his receiving qualities are unproven. Thoughts?

WTF is with the disclaimer...

From a QB protection standpoint of view clearly the answer is worst. Running lane wise it depends on how bad the others are for how much worse they are the more the defense will be able to focus on closing the lane. I'd go with five guys who are reliably above average for it will give you a winning season, however you will loose against better defenses. This could indeed have caused his awfull stats for last year, then again if keeping him means you'll only be able to afford subpar LG and C then we'd be better off getting 3 above average guys for the 12 million Peters wants.

Gonzalez, for he doesn't care about money anymore, he cares about a superbowl ring.
-
Couple of things to keep in mind when muling about their paychecks: 1. These guys are the best of the best, compare them with CEO/CFO/CTO's in the business world. 2. Every game they risk a career ending injury which risks them to be without further pay. 3. Every player only has a few years to make the money we need to work for our entire live; i.e. a car mechanic easily lasts 40 years where an athlete only lasts 5 years. Fully agreed, 6 million or 12 million is a big difference but the difference doesnt change the future of the receiving party, some players forget that they are allready set for life with what they receive. I want to bet that a guy that gets 6 million and wins the superbowl is more happy/content in his later years then a guy who got 12 million and no superbowl/playoffs. For me I had the feeling the teams passion went downhill as soon as Jason Peters started playing again last year (it may not be fair or even entirely wrong but thats just the feeling i got). In anyway a highly motivated passionate player giving 110% might be a better performer then a pro-bowler looking to add a few more italian sportcars to his collection giving 100%. I.e. I'd rather see us trade Peters for another decent LT that is passionate for performance wise it won't make much of a difference.

Wether the rumor is legit or not, it simply would be awesome. I want to believe.
-
His contract alone would have kept NFL Europe in business for 7 years... :/
-
I know Hamdan his agent was working on a deal with the Bills (info from the horse his mouth) and kffl reported on on 4th that the Bills were eager to retain him (source Chris Brown). Realisticly I can see the Bills let him slip into UFA and sign him on a future contract (to allow for changes on the QB front as in draftwise and wornout overthetop oldtimer QB).

INteresting this could work out great and benefit Lynch and Ormon greatly and Fred as well I guess. Wonder if Ormon would survive cuts to go back to PS though...

Well he played a hell of a lot more then Matt Cassel before last season...

Bills Need a Outstanding Draft This Year
bladiebla replied to Kenwick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In all honesty how often does an outstanding draft lead to immediate upgrading your starters. Best a team gets away with is getting 1 starter at the start of the season and another one during the season. Draft is more bulding the future then an immediate improvement imho. On the positive side I think we had a good draft last year, with Johnson being a surprise. If we can retain quality and Hardy starts to produce we could have a great team this year, else we'll still be building the team for the year thereafter.
