Controversial opinion: Elam was pretty solid
I'm Spartacus replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
I guess the "McDermott is a DB horse whisperer" guru isn't working on Elam. Bad pick for McDermott's stubborn defensive scheme. -
I find it ironic that when the defense falters (which happens way to often), McDermott's response to the media is "we have to win in the trenches - we have to dominate the line of scrimmage". Well the reality is the Bills don't have the horses to do that. He's not being realistic about his "scheme" or the defensive players he and Beane aquire.

Bills to debut a new uniform combo - red on white
I'm Spartacus replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
No! -
Coach...you let the effing paint dry!

Not sure this game was a anomaly. Our defensive line has been atrocious against the run, and pressuring the QB. It puts our DBs in a big pickle to cover up their poor play. Our small linebackers don't help much either.

Quarterbacks and "fake slide" controvery
I'm Spartacus replied to I'm Spartacus's topic in The Stadium Wall
On the flip side, Tua was a downright fool for not taking care of himself on some of his concussion hits. Don't slide at your own peril! -
Get Up on ESPN this morning had a spot on whether or not quarterbacks are taking advantage of the slide rule. They showed the Trevor Lawrence hit (Al-Shakeer / sp.?), which was a blatant dirty hit. Also was showing the great Josh Allen run against the Steelers. To me he was NOT faking a slide. Do you think they will start flagging the QB for this? (like flopping in hockey or basketball).

Random talking head says something about the Bills
I'm Spartacus replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Romo was great his first year, but has morphed into a nonstop talker like all color commentators. Stop talking and let me watch the games!!! -

Collingsworth might just be the worst, but in general, I can't stand the color commentary watching NFL games on TV. Let the viewers watch the games and form their own opinions. They constantly over talk and treat viewers like two year olds who don't know anything. -
What’s it gonna take to improve /prioritize our run defense?

Rich man, poor man. Does that mean we should have gotten Nick Nolte? 🙂 -
10/27/24 Game 8 GAMEDAY Bills at Seahawks
I'm Spartacus replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm scared of getting run on. Sorry but I don't like the lighter, faster D line and backers philosophy! We've never been stout against the run with Beane and McDermott. -
10/20/24 Game 7 GAMEDAY Bills vs Titans PREGAME THREAD
I'm Spartacus replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't think it is Edwards that is bothering people, as much as Beane and his scouting minions felt he was a good pick up. Like other veteran acquisitions that haven't panned out at a fairly large salary. ($2-3M for Edwards?). Add up those lower end salaries for bench warmers, and it seems like a lot of wasted salary cap money IMHO. -
What exactly is the real story with Mike Edwards?
I'm Spartacus replied to Jukester's topic in The Stadium Wall
Again I go back to my earlier post. What is Beane and his scouting staff seeing in acquiring overpriced veterans like Edwards if they end up sitting on the bench. Does McDermott have input prior to their signing? For a fairly cash strapped team, Beane can't keep gambling on these type of acquisitions that aren't working out. -

If Hamlin beat out Edwards for the job, that tells me everything I need to know about Beane and the scouting department. Too many veteran pick ups that end up sitting the bench or not very good. Waste of money then as a 4th option safety.
