would you rather win out or loss out.
Maddog69 replied to buffalover4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I used to always want to lose out and get better draft position but I am sick of that. We are close to being a playoff team, i think. At this point, Id rather win as many as possible and try to build a winning culture. -
Fitz. And he leads us to win 12 and a division championship. Seriously, who knows. I would not be surprised for a young QB from the draft being the starter by then. But I would also not be surprised if it was Fitz. My personal feeling as of right now 70% chance it is Fitz 25% chance it is a QB from the upcoming draft 5% chance it is someone else either due to injury or other circumstance

So, technically, the Bills just won a meaningful game in December. NICE.

I agree with this. I like our OL group. I would spend any free agent budget we have on keeping Byrd and Levitre and then possibly signing an Impact WR or LB or a #2 CB

Hey Chan, don't throw this blueprint away

Thats all great when you are playing a team with a ****ty run defense and you have a lead. It is not always simple. That is why people are clamoring for Fitz to get replaced. Many NFL games are decided by passing the ball. The team with the better QB generally wins and Fitz is not good enough. So I agree that we should try to limit his throws, that is obvious. But sometimes you just don;t have that luxury and need to depend on his arm. In that case, we're pretty much screwed. -

I understand the point. But my point is that running so much was not necessarily part of the initial game plan and it was not the reason we won. We were able to run so much because our defense stopped JAX often and because we were playing with a lead. That allowed (almost forced) Chan to stick with the run. I love the fact that we ran so much and hope it continues. I am simply pointing out that had JAX been able to score on our defense, we might have been forced to throw more. I hate that Chan tends to be pass happy and neglects the run game. It is ridiculous that Spiller did not have a carry in the last 13 minutes of the Indy game even though we only trailed by one score. -

1.) The Bills were ahead on the scoreboard for the entire game so they had the luxury of continually pounding the ball 2.) JAX run defense is terrible Just because we ran the ball 25 times, does not mean that is the reason we won the game. -
I hate rain. I'd rather have it be 20 degrees and snow

Can players on IR practice with the team? I answered my own question. According to Wiki, players on IR cannot practice but they can be with the team so they would get the benefit of coaching, meetings and watching practice. They just cant physically participate.

Thats right. I was thinking he was still in Texas. I was not suggesting that the Bills should consider him. Just that he was in fact on an NFL roster.

Leinart made the Texans roster this year and has been on an NFL roster since being drafted. But, carry on.

I think you're making a mistake by simply trying to compare Fitz to all of the other QBs in the league currently and deciding if he is average. The better way to think about it, in my opinion is this: Is Fitz good enough to win consistently, win close games and win playoff games? And in my opinion the answer is a resounding NO. Endlessly debating how he compares to Matt Cassel or Tony Romo is a waste of time to me.

So you're telling me there's a chance. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then DBs would simply tackle any receiver who is about to make a catch more than 20yds down field and just take the penalty. I like the current PI rules. Most of the calls that are called are accurate. My problem is that this rule is not called enough. If it was called every time it happened, teams would need to change the way to cover WRs to eliminate the illegal contact and open up the game

Good. Keep our good players and keep trying to add more.

How awesome would it be?

I like Kaepernick, but I think it is a terrible idea to bech Smith at this point and go with CK. Reminds me of the Flutie/Johnson fiasco. -
That is ridiculous. Teams have 7 draft picks per year and you want to you 2-3 on QBs every year? I am glad you and Schopp the dope are not involved in decision making for the Bills. I think teams should draft a QB nearly every year to develop but wasting multiple picks every year on QBs will leave you horribly weak at many other positions.

I'm not overly impressed with any of the prospects in this years draft. After doing some reading, I'm intrigued by Nassib. If we could get a stud LB or WR in Rd1 and then snag Nassib in Rd2, I'd be pretty happy.

I'd be happy if I never saw the Bills run another Wildcat play and I really don't like the empty backfield plays either. Why would you want to make yourself so obviously one dimensiional for the defense? -
1.) Did Ralph strumble onto Polian or did Polian stumble onto Jim Kelly? 2.) I see your point about Marv, but I still think getting to 4 consecutive Superbowls is a much bigger accomplishment than winning 1. Many teams have won one Superbowl and then disappeared. Nobody else has gone to 4 straight. 3.) The Bills have had other successful coaches/GMs. Obviously Polian and Levy are the most successful but there were others. I think it is far too convenient to blame Ralph or Littman or whatever. But I just feel it is simpler than that. They have hired the wrong coaches and they have not made enough of a prioirity out of finding a franchise QB.

Look through the history of every organization and you'll see the same thing. There are lots more Barry Switzers in Dallas than there are Jimmy Johnsons. Lots more Rich Kotite's in Philly than Andy Reid's. Lots more Joe Philbins in Miami than Don Shulas. Shall I continue. The Bills woes are not as easily identified as you've laid them out. The easiest solution for any floundering franchise is to find a QB. Belicheck was mediocre before Brady. Shanahan has done nothing without Elway. Dungy was nothing without Manning. And the list goes on. Find a QB and the Bills will be fine, with or without Ralphie Boy.

You're right. It is totally impossible to be successful under Ralph Wilson. Signed, Bill Polian, John Butler and Marv Levy
