  1. Unfortunately we're not in the NFC.
  2. Yeah, the players didn't want to win. Pure genius. You provide keen insight into the minds and hearts of the professional athlete.
  3. Not to mention Eli has had roughly 16 more starts than JP and doesn't look much better. He just has a better team around him (and a lot of positive hype).
  4. Yes, the QBs trot out there all by themselves and win or lose games alone.
  5. I've said it before and I'll say it again. This team had better win next year. If it doesn't keeping Mularkey on as HC was a huge mistake. It will turn next year into a lame duck year, one that doesn't help the team move forward at all. If Mularkey stumbles next year and gets fired at year end we'll have to wait 2-3 more seasons while the new coaching staff implements their systems and gets their feet under them. To me this is akin to developing a young QB. Why put off his development in a season that's likely to be a failure when you can get his feet under him right now. Next season could have been a "learning" season for a new coaching staff. As it is we'll likely have to wait two years for that "learning" season. If next year isn't a productive one this team's playoff drought is likely to last at least 8 years before a realistic shot at the playoffs can be achieved. This is so typical. The Bills never seem to want to build a foundation, it’s “try to win this year” even if it’s obvious that they aren’t capable to doing so. They end up finding stop gap solutions, that never actually enable them to win this year and only serves to stymie their future development. So the questions are, who actually thinks this team is capable of winning next year and what will it take for Mularkey to keep his job?
  6. I also heard Ralph state that Losman only started 4 games this year. He's not exactly the best source for accurate info.
  7. It also doesn't work when the team abandons the run early or doesn't use it nearly enough even when it's being effective. Just check out the last game of the year. WM was picking up chunks of yardage but only got the rock 22 times. A true smashmouth team would have kept hammering the ball down their throats even if it meant giving other backs some carries.
  8. Was Marv's wife standing next to him yesterday feeding Marv answers to reporter's questions?
  9. While I agree with you in principle if I was Carrol I'm probably thinking, "who do I trust to win this championship for us; the best O in the land or one of the worst Ds?" That makes it a tough decision. I also thought it was a bold move when I saw him make it, but I understood why he made it.
  10. I would guess that these issues that Ralph and Mularkey spoke about. It sounds kinda like the talks Ralph had with Wade before Wade was canned...only Mularkey agreed to the changes.
  11. Marv isn't the coach. The players will have to answer to Mularkey's clubhouse rules, not Marv's.
  12. You're supposed to be patient or didn't you get that memo?
  13. Are you actually reading what I'm writing? So I'm supposed to: a) expect a losing season b) expect that Mularkey won't be retained c) go through the growing pains of a new head coach the year after d) be happy that they didn't just instigate the head coaching change this year instead of putting it off. Talk about irrational. By retaining Mularkey that says they expect to win now. If the team expects to win now why should I be patient?
  14. Which part of my post did you find irrational exactly? So if the Bills don't win this year (and from what the "patience" crowd is preaching it doesn't seem like they believe they will) who do you think will be available next year that's better than any of the college HC's, coordinators or retread HCs that are available now? Or do you think they hold onto Mularkey even if he has a 6-7 win type season? We have a lame duck coach and that's not a good thing in dealing with the players on the roster or attracting FAs.
  15. Explain to me how hiring a new GM and keeping the current coach is going to expidite the turn around? The ONLY way that happens is if we win next year, period. If we don't win next year Mularkey is likely gone. He was almot gone this year, one more year and it's probably a done deal. Why delay that by a year, get on with it and hire a new staff and let's begain again...again. I don't expect result immediately UNLESS they keep the current coaching staff. If they're going that route then they had better win now.
  16. I'm not going to say Krumrie is a great coach, I really don't know. What I do know is that if you don't have the horses it doesn't matter how good the coaching is.
  17. The way this team has played the last half a decade I'd say that the people who are negative are a lot closer to the "truth" than the ones that are positive. This team has done nothing in years to deserve my faith that things are going in the right direction. Talk is cheap, it's really easy to shut up everybody that is on the negatively bandwagon...win. Until the Bills start winning they won't get a reprieve from the fans or media, nor do they deserve one.
  18. You're missing the point here. The poster you replied to was asking why Mularkey isn't gone. You say "be patient". Then you say above that it will take 2-3 season to make the playoffs. Do you really think that Mularkey can survive 2-3 seasons without making the playoffs? One more losing season and he's done...and then we'll have to go through a whole new line of "be patient" posts as the new coaching staff is put into place and new offensive and defensive systems are learned (in addition to the new D system learned this offseason). Another 2-3 seasons will be needed to get the team back up to speed. Hopefully the next coaching staff is a success; otherwise after 2-3 seasons we’ll be subjected to a thousand more “be patient” posts. Not canning Mularkey is a huge mistake unless they're willing to let him ride out his 5-year deal no matter what. If that's the case it moves the mistake from the "huge" category and puts it squarely in the "colossal" category.
  19. Be patient? The Bills have had one bright era in its 40+ years of existence. They went an entire decade without beating their hated rivals. They haven't made the playoffs in six years. In the last 10 years they've had the likes of Collins, RJ, Flutie, Billy Joe Hobert and Drew Bledsoe "leading" this team. Be patient? The Bills have a head coach that wanted to "win now" with Holcomb while the majority of the fan base were willing to sacrifice a few wins in order to prepare for the future. The Bills have a head coach that promises a power running game but abandons it early in nearly every game. The Bills have a head coach that openly feuded with several of his vets. Be patient? The Bills just hired a former coach that has been out of the league for eight years and has no NFL front office experience to "rebuild" this team. A coach, I might add, that had the benefit of coaching one of the most talented rosters in the last 20 years of the game. But hey, he's a "winner" despite the fact that he's never won a damn thing. I hear that the Cowboys are going to hire Barry Switzer to GM their squad next year. At least he coached one of the most talented rosters in the last 20 years to a SB title... How much more patient can a fan base get? How many more years of futility do the Bills have to go through before you think that the fans have a right to expect something more? We are officially the new Cincinnati Bengals of the AFC. My patience is over and done with. I want results.
  20. We are most definitely lucky to have him. I'm not sure how Ralph managed to outbid every other team in the league that was clamoring for Marv's services. Bottom line though is Ralph did it, good job!
  21. Character is a feel good term but I'd personally prefer players that scored more points than their opponents more often than not. Everything else is just gravy.
  22. Being horrible for 6 years tends to make people romanticize the past.
  23. NE over Jax Cincy over Pitt NE over Indy Denver over Cincy Denver over NE Was over TB NYG over Car Sea over Was Chi over NYG Sea over Chi Denver over Sea
  24. Yep, I agree. I like White a lot. I'm not so sure about Bush though. I think Bush is going to struggle in the pros unless he changes his game. The guy takes EVERY single play outside. He's not going to be able to hit the corner very often in the NFL. Unless he learns to run between the tackles some team is going to be very disapointed in the amount of production they get out of him.
  25. What if we need him to put in 15 hour days the entire year? Can an 80-year old do that?
