  1. Why is it only a one way street? Somehow it's only the players who are supposed to show "loyalty." Teams cut players the moment they don't live up to their contracts. The Bills wanted to pay the man way less than he was worth and he wasn't having it. I don't begrudge players for doing what they have to do to get paid their fair value. Careers are too short and the chance for injury too high for them to just play out a contract so fans think they're "loyal."
  2. He wanted to be paid what he was worth, imagine that.
  3. Yeah, I read those quotes as basically, "They were going to pay me a lot of money to do very little and when it became clear to me I'd have to put in a lot of work it didn't sound like a great job."
  4. There is no way in hell I'd want him promoting Pepper and then be hands off the D. Pepper has no experience as a DC. If that change was made I'd want him to be very hands on.
  5. I'm guessing there are going to be questions about whether he can be as productive without the three pro bowlers who man the DL with him. Before he joined this DL many considered him a bust. Personally, I'm not too worried about letting him go. He's been a very good player but there are other areas of the team that could use the attention.
  6. This just proves that Crayonz was right all along. You need to lose the games vs. the NFC. It's the best way into the playoffs!
  7. This isn't an endorsement of Sanchez but all Mediocre QBs look bad behind a bad OL as what makes them mediocre is what they do when protection breaks down. It's why priority #1 has to be to shore up the OL. Give a QB a respectable running game and time to throw and even mediocre QBs can look pretty good. It's also why you need a good OL with a young QB as those guys just aren't going to look good without protection and a running game.
  8. I don't think this is the case at all. My sense of things is that when a HC starts a young QB he's expecting him to struggle. As such they want assurances that the owner and GM understand this and are giving him a few seasons of losing in order to get the QB seasoned. With the death of Ralph those assurances were nowhere to be found. Nobody had any idea what would happen when a new owner took over so it became "win now and to hell with the future as I might not be here in the future." We have no way of really knowing what Marrone thinks of EJ at this point. Not starting him vs. NE on the road after 11 weeks on the bench doesn't mean much to me as that's not an ideal time to try and insert him back into the lineup. His progress will be measured next pre-season.
  9. On what is one of the worst OLs in the league.
  10. Does he play Guard?
  11. They'll bring in someone like Foles or Moore and EJ will beat them out in camp. EJ.
  12. Did George Seifert pick Cowher up at the airport?
  13. Kilos return will definitely have an impact on Spikes as it will move Brown back to the middle where he was expected to play when they drafted him. The starting LBs next year will be Kiko/Brown/Bradham. I'd like to see Spikes back but I doubt it happens as I'm sure he'll want more playing time than he's likely to get here.
  14. Spikes would just be depth next year, not sure how they need to sign him to contend. Hughes, on the other hand, can be a difference maker and I'd like to see them make a real attempt to retain him. That being said even if the D loses Hughes they'll be good. The OL is what needs fixing for this team to contend. Fix the OL, play good D and whomever the Bills stick back there at QB can Andy Dalton it to the playoffs.
  15. I agree in general but the difference between many of those teams and the Bills is that they have a QB to build around. San Diego, Kansas City, Carolina, San Francisco, New Orleans, Miami, NY Giants and Atlanta are all in better shape at the most important position. That's not to say that they have all pros but they're all better off for the moment.
  16. Tennessee, Jax, Washington and the Jets twice. That has a nice sound to it.
  17. Ravens up 10 with 2 minutes left. Looks like the Bills would have missed the playoffs anyway. Those AFC losses to Houston, KC and Den just killed them.
  18. Unfortunately, he isn't going to get it.
  19. That's one of the worse challenges I've ever seen.
  20. The fact that the Bills offense sucks and can't pick up short yardage situations easily plays into the decision. I'm of the opinion that it was less than 50/50 that they get the 1st. Obviously that's just a guess though.
  21. This drive would likely have ended in a FG for NE if they started at the 43. That makes it a 5 point game. Why give them 20+ yards of field position? Fans always want to go for it but it's not always the right call. I've been hard on Marrone for his conservative nature too but this time it's an easy call Imo.
  22. Hit to the body is a penalty?
  23. You don't go for it with 11 minutes left in the game with an 8 point lead. Being aggressive doesn't mean always going for it, you still have to make decisions based on the situation. You make the backup QB go 80+ yards and then get the two point conversion.
  24. They're winning by 8, it's not the time to go. If it was tied or they were behind I'd agree with you.
  25. Oh, I don't dispute that and I am/was pissed. But he couldn't change that this week, all he could do was prepare them for this game and he did that.
