  1. I think it is the point. Players are defined by a few things. Their big play ability (both positive and negative) and their consistency. With enough positive big plays the negative ones are forgotten. Without them and those negative plays are what define the player. That's what that play did for Orton, whether you like it (or agree with it) or not. So yeah, other players do similar things but they get cut some slack because the rest of their game doesn't suck too. And let's not forget the countless plays in which Orton just crumbled in the pocket and pretty much just fell down without standing tall and firing. Sure, you can point to a few times where he took a shot, but again, his positive plays didn't outweigh his negative, which is why he gets (rightfully) blasted.
  2. We need another RT that can push Henderson. I'd prefer a vet. He doesn't have to be top shelf, just someone who can compete for the starting spot.
  3. I have a 10 year old who competes in baseball, track and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and you're right, many of the parents are crazy. Thankfully I haven't encountered any coaches who put winning before all else. I'd pull my kid off the field/track/mats if I did.
  4. Which is pretty pathetic when it's Little League Baseball. Imagine the giant gaping hole that must exist in the lives of the coaches who need to do this. It's so important for a bunch of kids to win you'd sacrifice your integrity to do so. Ouch.
  5. This is a bit off topic but does anybody else hate the term "bully" as an identity for the team? I don't hate it because of all the anti-bully stuff that's in the air these days, I hate it because all you have to do to stop a bully is punch him in the mouth. Is that the type of identity the Bills want as a team? Smack them back and they fold?
  6. The day Orton can do the other things Brady does is the day I'll excuse his crap plays. It's easy to isolate a single moment and say, "other QBs do the same thing" but you take the bad with the good. The "good" with Orton was minimal and didn't make up for all the bad. That play was just a single play but it was a play that illustrated the type of QB Orton was last year. When Brady does it it doesn't define anything because you have no doubt next drive he's taking his team in for a TD. And one could argue that their reasons for dumping the ball off or sliding are different too. Do I think Brady knows his importance to the team and knows it's not worth the risk so he gives up on a play? Yep. Do I think that's why Orton did it? Nope. I would say he did it because his heart was never in the game last year, he already knew this was the end and he was collecting paychecks. Of course that's conjecture but I don't think it's too far off.
  7. I don't think he intimidates them at all and he's the last guy on the DL that they'd game plan around. The next time Hughes get double teamed will be the first. If the O doesn't assign guys to help out with Hughes then he's not intimidating them. I think people are forgetting that Hughes was a bust before he had to luxury of moving to a team with the best DL in football. Granted, I think he was misused in Indy and I also believe he's improved quite a bit but how much of that improvement is him and how much is the DL he's playing with? Is it a coincidence that the light just suddenly went on when he was lining up with Mario, Dareus and Kyle? If he moves on to another team I guess we'll see. My guess is the guy isn't wracking up 20 sacks in the next two seasons with any team that doesn't already have an intimidating DL. He's a good player, to be sure, but just how good we won't know until he's being accounted for by opposing offenses. I think that might be a motivation for him to move on to another team. I'm sure he'd love to prove he's one of the best and break the bank in the process.
  8. Hughes is not the same type of player as Mario at all. While he showed improvement vs. the run this year Hughes is nowhere near the edge setter that Mario is. He also doesn't have the full compliment of pass rush moves that Mario has. Mario is an elite player who can use speed, power - or both, to get to the passer or ball carrier. Hughes is not that type of player and I disagree that he's a guy you build around. He's a guy who is a complimentary player who will rack up big numbers if he's in the right place but who can be seen as a huge disappointment if too much is expected of him. The last thing I want the Bills to do is break the bank for Hughes. That's not to say I wouldn't like to keep him, but not if he's getting paid elite money.
  9. Pretty sure that pro athletes don't say to themselves, "I'm not a legit #1 guy, I'm lucky to be racking up the numbers I am." I'm sure he thinks he'll have success no matter where he goes so why not make the most money while doing it? Of course, I have my doubts whether he actually will, but I'm sure he doesn't have those same doubts.
  10. Not sure if this is on the line or if ive crossed it by a mile but here goes: A new study just came out that says 9 out of 10 people prefer gang rape.
  11. Yeah, I was initially worried that the Bills were paying him too much given him being out of football but it appears it's a good deal for the Bills. Also nice that they did it this early and all the "controversy" will be gone by the time the guys ever get into the locker room.
  12. You know nothing about NJ. All you know is the hellhole that the area right across from NYC. Anything above the GWB and the southern half of NJ are quite nice. The town Alpine is the wealthiest zip code in the US according to a Forbes report in 2012...yeah, you're right, it's a sh*thole.
  13. I was going to say that maybe it's because it's some 15-20 years old. Then I remembered the types of headlines those sites put on their front pages. "Lebron tweets: I had wheaties for breakfast this morning."
  14. I haven't read but a few pages of this thread so excuse me if this is repeated what others have said. I have two hesitations with this signing. 1) He's been out of football for 1 1/2 years. Can he still play at his usual above average level? 2) Reports say that they're paying him a one year deal worth north of $2M. The league minimum for a 9 year vet is something like $950K. With no interest in Incognito at all last year why pay him anything other than the league min with perhaps some extra money he can earn if he meets certain criteria? The Bills seem to love to bid against themselves. They did it with Chris Williams last year too. Granted, $2M for a starting G isn't a lot but still, why pay more than you need to?
  15. HGH is a helluva drug (errr, hormone), so he could play until 45. Otherwise, other posts are correct - father time is undefeated. Lots of guys wanted to play longer but their bodies give out, usually quickly.
  16. Go ahead and root for them, why post it on a Bills board?
  17. Yeah, but you know your fellow Bills fans hate the Pats. Why try and rub their noses in it? Actively rooting on a Bills message board for the "enemy" takes all kinds of class.
  18. If I'm Seattle I start thinking about TOs.
  19. Scientists need to gather the Bills' fans who are rooting for the Patriots and exam them. Study their brains and try and figure out just what the F&*K is wrong with them. Perhaps there is a cure.
  20. He's not used to throwing a properly inflated ball...
  21. Bwhaha. Pats looked to be in complete control of the game and then BAM, they got smacked in the mouth. I love it. Playing catch up vs. this Hawks D is a baaaaaad combo.
  22. GD what I wouldn't give to have a TE like Gronk on the Bills. A guy like that changes everything. Makes running the ball easier and creates such huge matchup problems everywhere.
  23. He's on his way to being MVP and I'd never even heard of him before tonight.
  24. I'm a big proponent of "let 'em play."
  25. Yet still nowhere near the best QB in the league.
