The Patriots never cease to amaze me
Erik replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Matt Light is looking brutal out there. He looks like Jonathan Scott out there. -
I think it is more likely that the Bills might eventually "dumb themselves" into the move but he is pretty much right on. Most 3-4 OLB's play DE in college so it's not as far-fetched as you're making it out to be. Yes, Maybin was born the play 3-4 OLB and he will likely be next year with the names that have been thrown around for Head Coach.
-
That's assuming that we are still running the 4-3. Of course if we do switch to a 3-4 with a new coach there is no possible way in hell that Maybin isn't converted to outside LB.
-
Other defenders besides Whitner and Poz get criticized?
-
Eh, I'd like to see Roscoe back on the pine and maybe Maybin playing LB before I give Fewell too much credit on talent evaluation.
-
He probably got caught up in the Gus Johnson rant. "PERRY FEWELL WANTS THIS JOB!!!!!!!!!" Haha, what a fruitcake. I will say that his excitement adds a little to the game given the alternatives that we usually get to announce the games.

The Day Buffalo Bills Football was Reborn?
Erik replied to Cotton Fitzsimmons's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I will say, if we keep playing like this it may make the job more attractive to outside candidates... -
People forget that we have nothing behind Jackson and Lynch. We also have too many holes to fill so I'd rather not make another one we have to fill this offseason. That was the problem with Levy/Jauron...they created holes then filled holes and the holes that were open always stayed open. Lynch stays another year at least.

Fewell is going to complicate the coaching search big time
Erik replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe so but what are the chances that actually happens? I have a hard time seeing this team go better than 2-3 with the scheduled they've got and that is 6-10. -
So I guess Roscoe didn't prove his uselessness enough last week?

Martz reportedly wants to be Bills coach

I see a lot of Dennis Erickson references in that thread...was he actually coaching in 2004? -
FWIW - Jerry Sullivan: Shanahan ain't coming to Buffalo
Erik replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No actually I'm saying maybe he could have a legitimate source or then again it could be a total buffoon blowing hot air. Adam Schefter he is not. -
I'd like to see Scott manning the strong safety position in a 3-4...those tough veteran safeties always seem to make the best SS's in that defense.

I love all of the "experts" who keep saying..
Erik replied to EndZoneCrew's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Think back to when all of these guys played and coached and then try to remember what pesky team from Upstate New York always blocked their Super Bowl dreams...then it might start to make sense. -
FWIW - Jerry Sullivan: Shanahan ain't coming to Buffalo

This all can either be right on the money or couldn't be farther from the truth, depending who the "top football man" is. -
What's with all the LEAKS out of OBD?
Erik replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How does starting rumors about getting a big coach now and not following through later sell season tickets for next year? -
I'm been wondering about that from the start. For the better part of ten years Ralph has been more concerned about "status quo" then a real re-building project. Now all of a sudden he is going for broke? Also don't discount Brandon's role in it. It kind of feels like a power play to get a high level position with a new regime. "I brought this guy in" For a team that's lacked direction for a decade, why the sudden urge to take one?
-
I think Brandon and Wilson are searching for someone to head of football ops while Brandon moves into a 100% business role and Ralph finally retires and becomes owner in name only. At least that's my sense of things.

Shanahan Considered "Legitimate Candidate"
Erik replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't hear that about Brohm, that's pretty interesting. It seemed like a random move at the time. This whole Shanahan thing is odd to be honest. You're heard absolutely nothing from the Shanahan camp, then you've got Ralph saying that he don't know no Shanahan, then everybody and their mother is reporting a meeting scheduled for this week (including Shannon Sharpe who claimed to have spoken with Shanahan on Sunday morning) yet there has been no confirmation of a meeting and no one even knows when it will take place and there are only two feasible days for said meeting to take place for the rest of the week. -
Could Kyle hold up on the line in a 3-4? He might be one of the few reluctant casualties if we made the switch.
-
I Thought McCargo played well also before he went out with an injury (what else is new?)
-
Too late, I think I saw him playing for the Jets against the Pats today...

I just haven't seen it from Freddie these past few weeks. I can think of two or three good runs that Freddie has made the past few weeks. And again it's not his fault just like it is not so much Lynch's fault. The true story is that it has become "cool" to bash the high picks of Marv/Jauron. It was funny when Poz made a few bad plays he was being unmercifully ridiculed on the board and then he started playing better and his name didn't get mentioned at all. Fact of the matter is I would take Lynch, Poz, and Maybin with a real coach and real organizational structure in general. Only guy of the bunch that I would show the door would be Whitner.
-
It's a mirage...watch what Freddie has done the past month...he hasn't played any better than Lynch. And don't blame it on Lynch splitting time with him, that doesn't make any sense. If he can make the runs he can make the runs. He just doesn't have any holes to run in.

They don't think Shanahan would ever come to Buffalo
Erik replied to bananathumb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, they are in a much better situation than they were the last time they brought a big guy in (Donahoe), they were in cap hell and devoid of veteran talent. I like to make the point that the Bills have good players at every unit, but no good units. Get a coach to coach the guys that are already on the roster that can be players and then fill out the roster with new players to complete the units. We really need to face facts, that while many a good point is made by the media in regards to our meddlesome owner, the fact still remains that the media is now by and large comprised of Tom Donahoe's BFFs and a bunch of former players who are bitter because the lowly franchise from upstate New York blocked them from ever winning a Super Bowl and now find some satisfaction in seeing them at the spot the think they always deserved, and don't want to ever see them get back. I say we stick to the Schefters and Grahams of the world on this one.
