Aficionado? Where do you get fan out of that? Supporter? Ok, call yourself an aficionado or a supporter, don't call yourself a fan. By definition you aren't.

Which would you rather have ?...Marshall at $10 mil
Steely Dan replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What he said. The fins are trading future players that will hurt them down the road. Do you really believe they are one receiver away from making the SB? That's the only way this trade would make any sense to me. They are giving away two potential future starters for a guy who's thisclose to a one year suspension. With Bill Parcells picking then a lot of people here would automatically write those two picks in as starters. Would you trade Eric Woods, Shawn Nelson and a sixth round pick this year for Jason Peters? Link Marshall was tied for third in number of catches last year with Andre Johnson. He ranked 14th in receiving yards and tied for seventh in TD's with Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne. He's a good receiver but not a top two or three. If I'm in the Bills front office I won't gamble two second round picks that he will mature. I'd rather have Dwan Edwards, Drayton Florence and Donte Whitner than Marshall. JMO -

My typing teacher just had us do all of the letters like JJJ JJJ JJJ and then we'd move on to other letters and then simple words. You must keep your hands on the home row though. Left pinky on A and then the rest of the fingers on the keys up to F. Right hand pinky is on ; key and the rest up to J. This leaves G and H in the middle of the hands. Then just type each key many times and use the space bar with your thumbs. Keep doing this over and over starting to type simple words when you get enough letters like Job or two or other things use the SHIFT bar to get capital letters. (In my best Leslie Neilsen) Good Luck, we're all counting on you.

Consumer Reports Issues a "Don't Buy:Safety Risk"

Link Toyota suspends Lexus GX 460 sales April 14, 2010 10:52 p.m. EDT Tokyo, Japan (CNN) -- Toyota announced Thursday it has suspended worldwide sales of the Lexus GX 460 due to a reported risk of rollover. Consumer Reports magazine warned readers on Tuesday not to buy the sport-utility vehicle because it could turn over in hard turns. Shortly after the magazine issued its warning, Toyota announced it was suspending sales of the luxury vehicle in the United States and Canada. Toyota spokeswoman Mieko Iwasaki said Thursday that the company was expanding the suspension to the Middle East and Russia, the only other markets where it was sold. Toyota is reeling right now. Yikes!! I guess now's the time to get one. Must be willing to move them for next to nothing. -

What he said. New England Pets* recent draft history; First three picks of the drafts. 2008 Round 1. Jerod Mayo - Pro Bowler 2. Terrence Wheatley - In two seasons has 4 tackles and two passes defensed with one start. 3. Shawn Crable - Hasn't played a single down 2007 Round 1. Brandon Merriweather - Starter 4. Kareem Brown - Tennessee Titans 5. Clint Oldenburg - Washington Redskins 2006 Round 1. Laurence Maroney - Has started 14 games 2. Chad Jackson - Buffalo Bills 3. David Thomas - Saints 2005 Round 1. Logan Mankins - Started every game since being drafted 3. Ellis Hobbs - Philadelphia Eagles 3. Nick Kaczur - Has started 62 out of a possible 80 games I think that shows how good teams can miss a lot on draft choices.

I doubt Brown would be traded within the division.

I didn't cherry pick these scores. These are all of the scores available right now. I certainly wouldn't want you to work for a nuclear panerplant. It sounds dangerous, whatever it is. -
Scout Matt Williamson - ESPN chat
Steely Dan replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Man you are off your rocker. Just say no to Tebow. Before I saw that I was gonna make a general statement about a former Browns scout being qualified for that job, but that draft ices the cake. I'll take Mayock and Kiper over him any day. -

How do you rate the criteria for a great QB?
Steely Dan replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To me feeling pressure is an instinct and not learned. Some guys can just feel pressure on the backside and step up without turning around. Arm strength is not that important to me. If a guy can throw accurately 40 yards that's sufficient. Arm strength can be improved as well. Intelligence is the ability to learn and retain information and thus is different from football smarts IMO. -

Tony Scheffler on the trading block?
Steely Dan replied to Leonidas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lynch and a sixth for Scheffler if Scheffler is considered an above average blocking TE. I'm not sure he is. -
So much for a second for Lynch

We have a winner in the analogy contest. I'd go a fourth but no lower than that. You're right about the money motivation. -
Everybody seems to have a differing opinion on what the most important skills are for each position. Some like speed others like power and others like agility or something else. So if you were going to build the perfect player for each position what would you do? (These are not based on combine numbers but actual field play) Here's my opinion; (The #1 is they are in the top ten at their position in the NFL. The #10 is assuming below average for the players at their position in the NFL. All of the criteria cannot be considered best in NFL.) Please use the criteria I've listed or explain another criteria you'd use. This is harder than ya think. We'll start with QB's and I'll add other positions later for those who want to participate in these discussions. My choices would be centered around a power running game. It chews up the clock and rests the defense. By chewing up the clock the other teams offense is off the field longer. QB: 1. Accuracy - Inaccurate QB's can cause turnovers and trouble moving the chains. 2. Ability to read defenses - Helps the QB audible to a better play when necessary 3. Character off field - He is the face of the franchise most of the time 4. Ability to feel pressure and escape - Avoiding sacks is obviously important 5. Intelligence - Smart players get better (Polian and Levy ideal) 6. Character on field - Must be fairly even tempered to keep teammates calm and not cost team penalties 7. Ability to quickly find open man - The less time it takes to get rid of the ball the better 8. Arm strength - Ability to make all the throws 9. Height 6'3"-6"5" - Taller QB's can see the field better 10. Ability to lead - If the above are true leading by example and being very good at the position sort of take care of themselves. When I was doing this I found that things I thought were very important weren't as important as they seemed.

Two second rounders for Brandon Marshall is a robbery. The Bronco's should be jailed for that. As a Bills fan I love this trade. Marshall will be suspended for a year by the beginning of this year or next year, IMO. I think the Jests and Poorpisses attraction to receivers probably has something to do with Buffalo's secondary.

Link Jordan Shipley WR, Texas Height: 5-11 Weight: 193 40-yard dash: 4.64 10-yard dash: 1.61 20-yard shuttle: 60-yard shuttle: Broad jump: 9-8 225-lb. bench: 16 3-cone drill: Vertical jump: 36 Wonderlic: 20-yard dash: 2.66 War Room analysis Strengths: Is quick and agile, able to change directions and avoid would-be tacklers. Moves well in tight quarters, finding the crease and then showing a deceptive burst to get through it. Shows good strength and balance after the catch. Consistently runs through arm tackles. Shows outstanding hands, concentration and body control to make tough catches. Shows deceptive quickness out of cuts to separate on short routes. Consistently finds the open spot vs. zone coverage. Is fearless catching passes in traffic -- does not peek at defense, absorbs the hard hit and holds the ball. Weaknesses: Shows more quickness than pure speed, and lacks the explosiveness to separate downfield or leave a press cornerback in the dust. Has a bad habit of body-catching passes, which could be a problem if matched with a rocket-armed QB or facing a tough DB who perfectly times hits. Is a durability concern after missing the '04 and '05 seasons with various leg injuries. Had shoulder surgery in the summer of '09. Bottom line: Despite lacking explosiveness and elite speed, Shipley is a dangerous runner and has a remarkable ability to make big plays in key situations as a receiver and returner. Shipley will not be a high pick because he is not an explosive athlete and is a durability risk. He projects as a good slot receiver and punt and kick returner. Nawrocki has him going at the end of the third round; http://www.profootballweekly.com/2010/04/0...aft-value-chart Link Danario Alexander WR, Missouri Height: 6-4 Weight: 215 40-yard dash: 4.59 War Room analysis Strengths: Is big and strong, a good runner after the catch despite lack of explosiveness. Is a smooth and fluid athlete. Shows no fear catching passes in traffic -- will go up and catch high pass without hesitation, absorb hard hit and hold onto the ball. Shows the hands, body control and concentration to catch off-target passes. Turns downfield quickly after the catch, and runs aggressively. Will drag defenders for extra yardage. Is a long strider who shows deceptive speed once at full throttle. Weaknesses: Lacks the quickness and elite speed to separate from NFL defenders to make big plays. Does not explode or burst off the snap, and lacks the acceleration to close cushion on cornerbacks in "off" coverage. Tends to round off routes. Is a durability risk after missing a lot of time with wrist and knee injuries. Bottom line: Alexander came into his own during senior season, going from non-prospect to likely mid-round pick. He is somewhat of a wide receiver/tight end 'tweener, but his hands, toughness and size give him a chance to stick as a possession receiver. For him to make it, he must run sharper routes and learn to get into his routes more quickly. If he fails at wide receiver, he should be given a chance to bulk up and move to tight end. Nawrocki has him going in the seventh round; http://www.profootballweekly.com/2010/04/0...aft-value-chart This is the guy I like; Chris McGaha WR, Arizona State Height: 6-0 Weight: 201 40-yard dash: 4.51 10-yard dash: 20-yard shuttle: 4.21 60-yard shuttle: Broad jump: 10-2 225-lb. bench: 19 3-cone drill: Vertical jump: 40 War Room analysis Strengths: Consistently makes big catches in key situations. Runs sharp and precise routes; does an excellent job of disguising his route until the break point, helping him turn around the cornerback. Knows how to find open spots in zone coverage. Gets his head and shoulders around quickly when coming out of cuts, enabling him to easily catch passes that get on top of him quickly. Twists and adjusts to make great catches seem routine thanks to outstanding hands and excellent body control, concentration and coordination. Plays taller than his height; is especially good at winning jump-ball battles over cornerbacks. Is a competitive and instinctive runner after the catch who fights for every last yard and is tough to bring to the ground. Is a competitive blocker who consistently knocks his man out of the play. Weaknesses: Lacks the explosiveness and top-end playing speed to stretch the field and get separation on deep routes. Will struggle to get separation on short and intermediate routes in the NFL. Is thin and will struggle to break tackles in the NFL. Will likely struggle in the NFL to fight through jam coverage and contact during routes because he lacks size and strength. Bottom line: McGaha has been one of Arizona State's key offensive weapons during his college career despite lacking explosiveness and great speed. McGaha will have trouble replicating his college productivity in the NFL, but he still has what it takes to be a solid pro receiver. His sharp routes, great hands and outstanding receiving skills will help him consistently make catches on short and intermediate passes, but he will not be a big-play receiver who can stretch the field and get separation deep downfield. Nawrocki has him going at the end of round 4; http://www.profootballweekly.com/2010/04/0...aft-value-chart

Bills looking for second rounder for Lynch
Steely Dan replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Buffalo can snag a second rounder for him it will be robbery for them. If they wanted they could take CJ Spiller in the first round and worry about LT and NT in the second round. JMO -
