When Howard came back out late in the game he seemed to be taking a number of snaps in the backfield. Wonder if the staff wanted to get a look at him in Gilliam's H-Back role since there isn't really a direct backup (not that it is a huge role on this team). Also wanted to note that Howard (along with the other TE's, but Howard primarily) took a number of snaps lined up out wide. Could be an interesting look and a way to create size mismatches depending on how the defense plays it.

Haack trotted out to a sprinkling of boos for the first punt and there was a buzz in the crowd when Araiza came on for his punt. Then BOOM! The punt was like a laser off his left foot and the return man hesitated for just a split second and that was all it took for the ball to fly over his head. NFL returners haven’t seen punts like that and it is going to be a problem. Tape doesn’t do it justice, it is a different animal.

Some of these new segments they are trying are gawd awful…wErdhl or whatever the hell it was, ouch. Hopefully this new crew finds their stride come the start of the season but for now I’m glad I only have this show on in the background. Michael Robinson was just such a no-brainer, you almost wonder if he didn’t want the full-time chair?

Oh ya, completely understood that half a second is a big difference, but Haack was only 7/100’s better yesterday, not 5/10’s. My kids are competitive swimmers, a sport that is measured to the one hundredth of a second…I can tell you how difficult to see the difference between 7/100’s of a second.

Pat McAfee has talked about how he never knew how to hold coming into the league since he was the punter and kicker at West Virginia. He lied to Bill Polian and the Colts telling them that he could, but he had never held in his life. Adam Vinatieri called him on his holding and sent him to work with the guy that held for him in New England. His lack of holding experience didn't seem to affect Vinatieri too much. McAfee was an athletic punter/kicker and he was able to learn...no reason to think Araiza won't be able to as well. Pretty safe to say that the Bills are putting Araiza through his own holding camp, complete with "the guy that held for Bass" teaching him. The Bills don't need Araiza to master holding, he just needs to be good enough to not hurt the team while being better punting the ball than the incumbent who the team had such little faith in that they used a draft pick on a punter.

Did any new season ticket holders get out to attend Rookie Club? My son and I went last night and had a blast. We spent almost an hour on the field tossing the football around and they let us tour the Bills locker room as well, where Steve Christie was signing pictures for fans. Some awesome lifelong memories to start our first season as ST members…now we’re onto day two of our boys trip and heading to Canton 🏈🤩
