This is what I've been wondering. How can a defensive coach such as himself put up with a guy that can't or won't tackle on D? That play where he dove under the runners feet, gave the Cheaps another 7 yards. On the TD to #27 he was further downfield when the football was caught but didn't even attempt to cut across field to tackle the guy. Instead he jogs paralell and ends up trailing him into EZ. I was surprised last year Rex put up with this nonsense, but he did. Not sure Bill BelLyache will. I suspect him to get benched at some point.

Trailing the play. It's another service he provides.

Let's not leave out Alan Branch.

I laughed my A$$ off on that patented Gilmore tackle attempt. I'm not gonna miss him AT ALL.
-
How so? 13-6 is 13-6. And yes they did miss the playoffs without Tommy, but they did go 11-5. That doesn't happen very often. Think about it, Bill Bellyache and the culture of cheat are 13-6 with Cassell, Garapalo, and Brisket. When Tommy leaves, if Bill Bellyache stays, they'll plug in the next man up and roll on. We only play 2 games a year vs them. We could go 14-2 and win the division if our problem not making the playoffs rested on Tommy's shoulders alone. We've split with them a few times but still lost to the Fish and Jets twice (last year) and a bad Raiders team (2015). That's why we're not making the playoffs.

I wish they would bring back Flutie subs. They tasted like winning.
-
Yet throughout all of this, the Jets and Fish have been able to make the playoffs twice each. Fish even won the division one year. Jets would have been 3 if not for Leodis. Heck, we could have made it last year if we only had a D. That's not Tommy's fault. And in games where Tommy hasn't played, the Patsies** are 13-6. As long as Bill Bellyache and the culture of cheat stays there will be no relief in sight IMHO. It's not a valid reason/excuse.

Doug Flutie- Lead the Charge?

I wish wd had a QB that could get us to a playoff game to fumble in. Didn't one of the WRs fumble away a for sure TD in that game too? -

Perhaps, but he sure has heck would not have fumbled the football out of the back of the EZ like RJ did. After the resulting free kick the Titans scored their ONLY TD of the game. Nothing fires up a team and home crowd like a safety. The plum field position didn't hurt either. It was the only playoff game I've seen in my life where the starting QB and center had to practice snaps on the sidelines. So I'm with whoever said it initially, if Flutie starts that game we win going away and perhaps get back to the Super Bowl. If you don't like non nice guys winning, you'll love "the process". -

I would think that teams don't start putting their real plays and stuff in until AFTER final cuts. We wouldn't want Jonathon Williams to give our playbook to Denver for example. Or, some Patsies** staffer wearing Bills regalia to film us practicing our real plays at SJF. -
Why are you so sure we aren't a playoff team?

Fish made the playoffs last year in the same division as Patsies**. Jets and Fish have both made it twice during the Cheat era. What's our excuse? -

I understand, I just think it's a dumb idea. Looked like to me in PS Nasty Nate worked predominantly from shotgun whereas Hotrod worked predominantly under center. -

But 7 of last year's 12 playoff QBs were not "long gone" by the 11th pick. What we've been constantly doing is picking the wrong guy. -

Nothing changes til the ownership changes. -
According to the old hikers code, Whaley left the Bills in better shape than he found them. I didn't follow the hiring that close, but if seems I read McDermott was Whaley's choice. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about this.

Yes, one must have a really good QB to have a chance. But I'm not so sure you have to draft one high as you say. Of the 12 playoff teams in 2016, only 5 were drafted in the top 10. Matt Ryan, Eli Manning, Matt Stafford, Ryan Tannehill, and Alex Smith. Ben Rothlesberger, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, Brian Hoyer, Dereck Carr, and Dak Prescott were not. In the past 10 years, top 10 QB drafted from 2004-2013 were Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin, Ryan Tannehill, Cam Newton, Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, Sam Bradford, Matt Stafford, Mark Sanchez, Matt Ryan, JaMarcus Russell, Vince Young, Matt Lienert, Alex Smith, Eli Manning, and Phillip Rivers. So you're theory doesn't seem to pencil out. More QBs in playoffs NOT drafted in top 10 than were, and a 33% hit rate in the top 10. Those numbers don't warrant wasting a season over IMHO. The problem has not been where we're picking, but WHO we've been picking. -

I think it may have happened in our division last year. -

If Peterman has better passing ability he sure hadn't shown it yet. He completed 1/2 his passes in the first 3 PS games and 9 of ll dink and dunk passes obviously designed for him to drop back and throw it to the designated guy. He made some really nice throws but he also threw a lot of clunkers. On 1 play, he throws it through the top gym window, across the street, banks off a basketball backboard falling softly into a trash can. On the next play he misses the WR on a short out route on 3rd down. Meanwhile in Hotrod's last real game he threw for 330 yards, 3 TDs, and ran for 60, but, he can't pass. Got it. -

' I do because we've all seen how bad QB play affects the bottom line. QBs job is to win and he has THE MOST influence over anybody on the team whether that happens or not. If Hotrod hits Goodwin wide open in the EZ the play before the missed FG WE WIN. But he missed and we ended up losing. He could have made up for the bad defense and kicking in that game all by himself (assuming Goodwin catches the pass). Sometimes the difference is a team winning or losing is the QB. Like when Rob Johnson was QB we were gong nowhere. Then Flutie comes in and it's off to the races.
