  1. I get it can feel that way, but right now we're in about as American a conversation as this world can have right now. We'll be a better country as all is said and done. No way around it, I'm damn lucky to be an American, even in this seemingly disorienting time.
  2. It took me a long time to come around to 'Jimi' - I always thought he was great, but loved a lot of others along the way. Digging deeper into his catalogue, though, a lot of his stuff later became fresh sounds waaaay later. I have bands that I love who made their sound off of one of his passing fancies. Sorry, can't put May into that category. I am a big fan of his brother, tho.
  3. So are we agreeing? Gailey got his waterbug in the first round, btw. I really don't think the talent level mattered so much as Gailey hanging his hat on one level of original offense-making, without taking into much account that it would be quickly adopted and countered by the other teams.
  4. None. Chan Gailey's pop-gun offense lacked sustainable originality. He spent all off-season coming up with a surprise, and at times it worked fine, but he lacked the long-haul thinking to make an offense consistently problematic for the opposing defenses. Fitz tried too hard, but it's as much a reflection of his surrounding talent as it is his shortcomings. The guy can win anything with a good cast.
  5. I don't either. He was poking fun at some hypothetical system where the world was so drastically altered that only 'safe' people could own guns. It's a bunch of hooey from the literatsi. If anything he was poking at white fear.
  6. Traditionally at Yosemite (Camp Mather).... yes, I saw Prine 5 or 6 times there. Due to a huge fire about 6 years ago it's now in another Sierra Nevada location. He'd do a main stage performance, then a workshop the following day.
  7. This is where I got to spend many of my formulative years. Got to lean on many of the trees in this video, in the hope that they would keep me upright when I needed them most. This was filmed a few years before my time, and it'll maybe bore the socks off the less patient crowd, but I did get to grow up, with these trees, and this particular songwriter who was one of the majors who introduced me to being something greater or smaller than I was at the time. How anyone can still have a cavalier attitude toward infecting our elders is beyond me. We lost a gem of a man here https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iOVRg6aV-_A
  8. Knox may turn out to be a Jeremy Shockey, and ima enjoy watching for him to grow... and the rest of the swirling crew we call our tight ends, but for right now I'd call that our least predictable group.
  9. I think in 2028, after our 6th SB win in 8 years, no one is going to question the legitimacy of 'The Covid Years'.
  10. Got to see him this last September one more time. There's a hole in my heart right now.
  11. Not a fan of his diagonal throwing motion- way too many accuracy variables. Why the heck are the coaches not throttling him over that?
  12. Peace to you and your loved ones. God bless
  13. I love how we have 2 full rosters to pick our final 53 from.
  14. Lifelong Dodgers fan here, going back to Sax, Garvey, Cey, Sutton, Yeager, John, Lopes, Monday, Baker, Fernando freakin Valuenzuela, Scioscia, Guerrero, Howe, et al... and to all y'all, who farking cares. The '88 Dodgers are enough to carry any fan through a lifetime- yes, my team is ETERNALLY cooler than yours! Let the Astros and BoSox have their playtime. Those teams needed a good thumb-sucking, and they got it. Congrats to them both on their victories. Limited sarcasm aside, I've watched so much of Kershaw's career, and he didn't look any different in the post-season. I never once lost faith in his abilities, and not just from being a fan, he just always looked like exactly the same pitcher. I couldn't understand any of it, then I'd go right back to hoping he'd come in in any clutch situation... and he'd get shelled again. This crap explains a lot.
  15. We were up by 16 points and blew it. This thread is the only reason I remember that play. It was the right call, according to my hangover. )
  16. They gave us everything, and we didn't win the game.
  17. The Bills are on their way, and I can't wait for a whole lot of our games to come. Love you all. Or at least most of you
  18. I thought I knew you well But all this time I could never tell I let you get away Haunts me every night and every day You were the only one The only friend I counted on How could I watch you walk away I'd give anything to have you here today But now I stand alone with my pride And dream that you're still by my side But that was yesterday I had the world in my hands But it's not the end of my world Just a slight change of plans That was yesterday But today life goes on No more hiding in yesterday 'Cause yesterday's gone, ooooh! Love, my love I gave it all Thought I saw the light, when I heard you call Life that we both could share Has deserted me, left me in despair But now I stand alone with my pride Fighting back the tears I never let myself cry But that was yesterday Love was torn from my hands But it's not the end of my world Just a little hard to understand That was yesterday But today life goes on You won't find me in yesterday's world Now yesterday's gone Goodbye yesterday Now it's over and done Still I hope somewhere deep in your heart Yesterday will live on, ooooh! -Sylvia Plath-
  19. Kelsaydenney must be kicking himself for playing in the wrong era. 3 yr/$32 Mil eh
  20. I think we're mixing playing not to lose with being conservative here.
  21. 1 guy who believed in the run so much he was nicknamed Ground Chuck, and the lifetime practitioner of the 4-3 bend but don't break 'flex' defense don't sound conservative to me either...
