Base Nickel Defense
Pirate Angel replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He needs to stay just not play....he can back up at safety, play an emergency linebacker, plus a decent special teamer. and cheap. With a 53 man roster you need guys like that, especially when you sign 2 kickers. -
We actually have a pretty bad ass fullback in MacIntyre..just Chan never used it because we have to spread the field with bad recievers.....hopefully Marone will put Cj behind him

Moats got paid double his base salary
Pirate Angel replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
playing some 3-4 and blitzing will make Moats more of an asset -
Kaepernick is not in the SEC....I also believe that they mentioned that Fitz is there guy at the time ...Honestly I doubt they new they maybe they just took the highest rated player on the board when they where on the clock. Alot of tape on Kapernick was a run first mentality..not always attractive to the NFL but maybe they had more info on the guy being SF is closest to Nevada

Johnny Manziel - QB - Texas A & M
Pirate Angel replied to 4merper4mer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ryan. Stafford and Flacco are hardly worthless... on a more important note Roethlisberger is the only QB that can marginally be called a running QB to win a SB in the past 10+ years -
Johnny Manziel - QB - Texas A & M

You stated that these mobile QB's have been winning when most the teams they are on where winning before there arrival with the exception of RGIII. My point is that the best QB's in the league are pocket passers, so if you are going to do something ridiculous to get a QB why not do it to get one that is going to be one of the best? You cant be serious in having a franchise hold a lawsuit with the NFL over signing a collegiate freshmen and you want do all this for the next Russel Wilson, RGIII, or Kaepernick? These guys have been playing for one year in the league, have you heard alot about Cam Newton this past season? like i said if you are going to do something ridiculous why not do it for a Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, or a Drew Brees, guys that have been putting up big numbers for years and continually have there teams in the playoffs no matter the supporting casts. -

Some youngsters are making plays with there legs...The best QB's in the league remain to be pocket passers. The most durable QB's in the league remain pocket passers. Yes Wilson and Kaepernick have made some exciting plays but lets not forget that those teams where playoffs teams last year without them. Plenty of college QB's have had some stellar college careers that didn't make it in the NFL, several freak of nature college athletes have not made it in the NFL, and now we are scheming a way to bring an 18-19 year old in as our QB of the future??? Seriously TBD needs a wall of shame for posts like this. -

he has played some good football...If the Bucs front office believes he is a Franchise QB. most likely he will stay and the coach will go. -
I dont believe they allow blitzes so it pretty much identical

A GM's Decision The Futures Calling

Why dont we attempt to bring in quality players to enhance competition? A competition between Fitz and Tjax hardly enhances anything -
Nassibs not going in the first

Bills QB Situation. Time for a Reality Check
Pirate Angel replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
0 QBs on the roster may be better than having 1 Ryan Fitzpatrick. If you have 0 Qbs you can add three and have 3 chances on improving....If you have 1 Ryan Fitzpatrick you have 1 bad qb and 2 chances and finding a replacement. Sorry but keeping Fitz is just prolonging mediocrity, at least a season of being completely awful allows us a top 5 pick. CJ is our best offensive weapon and Fitz has absolutely no ability towards providing a down field threat and keeping defenses being honest. Lets not forget that we have a new coaching staff that is might to want there QB to be able to be able to make NFL caliber passes, which requires arm strength and accuracy. Chan was willing to adjust his offense to his QB's handicaps which is a big reason he is no longer coaching. Fitz is a career backup. he's smart and can learn an offense without the majority of repetitions, he can finish a game and beat bad teams for you. He is awful in the clutch and cannot win games for your team, which is what you look for in a QB. No team is going to keep a backup with that contract. -
The Perfect WR...what we need
Pirate Angel replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You cant really go out up and fight for an 7 yard pass -
All coaches are horrible without a decent starting QB....this team could have very well won 9 games if we had one.

I could be wrong but..........

We dont have a QB to coach at the moment.....no biggie -
Makes no difference who is running routes until we have a guy that can throw them the ball

Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse

if they strongly believe he can be a franchise QB take him at 8....its not like we have never blown a draft pick before anyway -

I recall an interview with Marone during Syracuse's season and remember him stating that "you''ll be watching this kid on a lot of Sundays"...this was far prior to any head coaching considerations. -
First 5 that Doug cuts from Chan era????????????
Pirate Angel replied to metsandbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kelsay - old, expensive, and average at best Spencer Johnson- also has a fairly hefty contact for what he provides, and Carrington has made him expendable George Wilson- Outplayed by Searcy last season. Aaron Williams should get slid over to SS as well which is where he was projected to play out of college. Bryan Scott to play backup as well Fred Jackson- hate this but old and injured and pricey...Complimentary RB's can be found in Free Agency Ryan FitzPatrick- his contract voids any reasoning to keep him -
Brad Smith, Kelsay, Spencer Johnson, george Wilson, and possibly freddy gone will free up plenty of cap Space
