That is not my argument. The shock is a first round tackle and letting the chips fall where they may... the five best play. Running backs and linebackers are not easy top of the draft picks. Special ones are rare. They are the exact two positions that most (good) teams wait on. They are the positions that are high turnover and if I may be indelicate, have been referred to as "meat". It is probably no coincidence that they are the last positions to be addressed by Marv. Wow, remember Eddie Robinson ? Some odd guys do get on the field.

I wish he were as bombastic and idiotic as some of his colleagues so he could be written off. He's a tough guy not to like. Lucky for us he isn't infallible. -
So Who Can Tell Me About Carey Bender?

Then I want to be on board. Unless they sign the most recent Coe RB graduate Ashton Northern who goes 6'1, 225 . -
Honestly, with that sort of depth chart... It's like saying "why'n hell did we draft Whitner, we just signed Matt Bowen !!!" I'm not on side with a drafted rookie guard however. I'm from the "guards are just failed tackles" school of thought -- the best college OL athletes have been recruited as tackles and can be moved. And how can one mention failed tackles without mentioning Langston Walker... your best case RG.

You are correct, sir... the 4 Non Blondes refrain is "what's going on" but due to the Marvin Gaye song title, the " What's Up " label was applied. It would have been sweet irony to have one of the era's most prolific hitmaker's breaking big with a cover but that is not the case. Sorry for the initial confusion.

So what ? If the Bills see a special offensive tackle, move some things around. Peters is being paid like a good right tackle if I'm not mistaken. Again, passing up needs in favour of special football players is the sort of shock I would welcome.

I kinda' like Coy's Wire. Wait a minute... no I don't.

Ashton Northern RB 6'1 225 1st team All-Iowa Conference (Jr. and Sr. years).... Coe College -
That is precisely the Marv instinct I was thinking of in suggesting a defensive end. If Brown is identified as a ten year tackle, load up that offensive line and find five that can REALLY play. Let the draftniks give the Bills a D minus for not addressing needs -- and go play football.

" I just want to bring some of that success and let it rub off for me in Buffalo " ? That's the quote an AP sportswriter chooses to finish with ? Of me ? On them ? Now I'm confused.

Boredom ? The Surgeon General should slap a brain damage warning on that sort of activity. If you liked Millbank's

The cabbie tells Berman that Marv told 'em the Anderson kid can probably play some outside linebacker.

Inviting grief and ridicule Marv selects DE Jamaal Anderson of Arkansas. Mel Kiper's hair catches fire as he tries to puzzle out "what on earth are the Bills thinking ?". Marv wonders "why the best player available" should upset so many people and surmises that "you can never have enough good football players".

Two generations removed in fact. You may remember an awful one hit wonder from 1993 by 4 Non Blondes( "What's Going On") -- that is your Linda Perry. Look closely at the songwriting and producing credits behind Christina Aguilera, Pink, Gwen Stefani ... on back to Courtney Love, and you have a woman involved in possibly a hundred million units sold. She has singlehandedly moved the culture away from the likes of you and I.

That is just crazy talk. Garcia is all about the goofy choice, keeping plays alive, leaning on his playmakers and such. He has spent his LIFE in some variation of the west coast offense. Checkdown Kelly had his best success in a Butch Davis Cowboy looking offense (OC Arians came from Indy IIRC) that was about making the right reads and the right throws. He had some monster games, enough that he was our answer for a time. He should have succeded here. He looked like he fit. Kirwan and Ryan should have wondered about that. That part of the deal should frighten Philadelphia. -
So I can look forward to the return of Tim Anderson ? That description has to fit about 1400 guys in professional football.
-
Isn't Charlie Frye Ohio enough for them ? Not much love for Tory Woodbury or Craig Ochs in here. They can trust Nall not to sh.. the bed as the primary backup but what sort can they possibly attract as number three ? You'd almost have to cut Nall out of mercy if you bring in someone clearly more accomplished -- that can't be the plan.

You know, I'll take another Triplett. He wasn't as disruptive as advertised but did have his moments. Adding another guy who we actually notice 3 or 4 times a season can't hurt. -
She is that rink rat, if not punk kid -- the juvenalia shines through in those lyrics. Napanee is about as suburban as Dubois, Pennsylvania if that paints a picture. The Linda Perry touch is not as evident with her as say, Pink. They put Chantal Krevaziuk and Raine Maida on her case to grow her up some -- and got more of the cringeworthy drivel like "Girlfriend". My vote is for authentic (and unlistenable).

I am going to hold you personally responsible for... A) my freakish optimism ? B) his inevitable failure ? C) his Larry Tripplett-like contribution ? -
Nice ob. What is it about Tedford products that doesn't scream "system QB" ? I enjoyed the personal attack on Mr. Edwards but that is where you are going to look for a QB prospect. Generally, struggling big conference teams have to do things a little differently and one way is to sell offence and recruit a big time arm -- who is inevitably thrown to the wolves. If he is the "it" guy for this year, good for him... there are probably five similar guys in his wake. The question for me is whether these types are preferable to the same sort who struggle in the way you describe at non major conferences and get the draft hype -- Dilfer, McNair, Culpepper, Pennington, Carr, Ramsey, Leftwich, Roethlisberger, Losman (a UCLA washout), Alex Smith... Quarterback is an absolute mess and GM killer at the top of the draft. For every Tim Couch, Akili Smith or rapidly devolving Eli Manning that fit your profile there is a Rick Mirer, Heath Shuler, Jim Druckenmiller, (Kerry Collins?) that also dissapoints.

An astonishing feat in itself. The girl is a hustler and a worker (of sorts) and thus gets my respect. A true American force of nature. There are no "overrated" celebrities, only those we have a personal distaste for. The less than talented train wreck known as Britney Spears demonstrates how difficult an animal celebrity is to ride -- Paris effortlessly puts that animal into her doggie purse.
