  1. Those years were a remarkable steal for management... its a shame that the deal was so good for the Bills that it is almost too embarrassing for all involved. Even if he didn't (doesn't) progress he could still have stumbled into Langston Walker type money at any point. There is something to be said for keeping one's word but everybody sees the elephant in the room. Might as well deal with it.
  2. They try and try, every which way. If any approach had worked... Mike Williams high/ Sobieski, McFarland and the like, low and undeveloped/ dodgy free agents (hey, Aaron Gibson !)... Peters would still be holding out. He's that good and they know it. Doesn't do anything for him to wait.
  3. Absolutely. The end of Donahoe, Mullarkey, Bledsoe (even Tommy Clements) and the start of... whatever this is. If I could change one result it would be that one.
  4. Strange... there are some posts missing. We never did get to the bottom of OHBillsFan's (7 posts !) mysterious appearance. A high school kid's coincidental writing assignment ? Someone in the front office floating a cheeky idea ? Who can tell...
  5. They are trying to fix that with a left tackle (Jordan Black ex KC) signed for about 2 million a year -- less than half of what the Bills will be paying the mysterious Langston Walker. If Ralph is cheap, how can Houston even be described ?
  6. Not a hard mistake to make given that the draft has two Orangemen too many.
  7. People. He is not Bryce Paup. Dropping out on a zone blitz is not man coverage on a TE or RB. Tell him to put on some weight and improve what he can -- run defence.
  8. That is nutty for a guy who can barely play the position... but hey, I get it. Rowe, I think goes higher. He played in some wacky offense ( the "Wolf" ?) that might translate for some teams but not ours. And it occurs to me that Fresno RB Wright looks like a 4-5th rounder now... there's just not much depth to that RB class.
  9. I hate using the word "I". Too bold, too out front. Jostles the Tao. In a related matter if anyone has a message for Ricky I will try to deliver it. If he is indeed in Grass Valley or Nevada City teaching yoga I'll hunt him down -- my drifting should take me through there next week.
  10. Hopelessly queer for the draft, not a bit ashamed...
  11. Pats fans think ? That's a pretty good board on the whole -- the top drag menus helped me through our mock draft and the people are as serious as we. Their opinions however are predictable when it comes to the Bills.
  12. I thefted it from the Black Cats of Sunderland, a second division English soccer team. It should find its way into a signature methinks.
  13. I love the guys that you put on my radar ! He will (as I suspect the similar John Beck BYU) be off the board by the Bills seventh round pick. A wild outsider would be the Washington Husky Isaiah Stanback who hasn't really come of age as a quarterback but was originally a track guy. Probably a FA candidate but more interesting to me than the current projects, Woodbury and Ochs.
  14. Since that clearly is the motto, class it up a bit : Nil Desperandum Auspice Marv
  15. [ This is an automated response ] And twice as true today ! None of Astrobot's programs spit out Tony Hunt, the plodding hammer with no upside that we are sure to draft. Strange. Russell's on to it. If they do draft a QB late he can be an interesting development project hella'deep on the depth chart compared to Nall. A real feast or famine type rather than a ready game manager.
  16. Buffalo would enjoy Ricky talking about the game, of that I am sure. I will always pull for any odd cat (as was Willis McGahee for that matter) but the man is old and this team is young. It may be as simple as that. Not old in the Troy Vincent veteran leader way, but in the world weary warrior way. He will help someone this year. Not the Bills.
  17. The McGahee deal is freakishly absent of a guaranteed future for a man who has suffered a serious injury. Signing bonus 7.5 million, roster bonus 6.5 million after 2007, 1.5 million after 2008. The salary is around 600 thousand for the next three years, ramping up to 3.6 million in 2010 and 6 million in 2011. In yesteryear terms that is pretty much 14 million guaranteed. Which is a reasonable expectation for Turner's starting point. Contract
  18. They are a series of declarative statements.
  19. If McCargo shows up as a run stopper the new linebacking corps will at least get a chance to demonstrate that potential. But Crowell... weighs more... than Schobel ? This is Bizarro world. Strength can only do so much when giving away 60 or 80 pounds 50 times a game. I hope this Conor fella' has a bad source.
  20. Now that is interesting -- it is a financial advantage to give a little more than expected for Turner. The emboldened point is one I shouldn't have been cavalier about. And thanks GG, I was a little out of the loop last month.
  21. K-State has a chance to find a quality replacement given who they are and what they have on board. And there is no more entertaining a punk than Huggins in the NCAA. Makes the Big East an even bigger circus.
  22. Very easily under NFL rules governing salaries. C to C, not so much. Agreed on the rest.
  23. Mckenzie is who you were looking for the other day, yes ? That is obscene. He looks like a cap casualty in waiting if I remember how contracts were generally structured in 2005. Runyan is certainly in line. I still have to think that Walker is being paid like a premiere RT -- which is fine if he indeed matures into one.
