  1. Models eat food ?
  2. Another dark horse 16 seed... Winner of Canada's Next Top Model Andrea Muizelaar, a cashier from my hometown.
  3. Every bracket needs a plucky 16 seed... Mi Hyun Kim
  4. Please consider Maggie Gyllenhaal as 16 seed. She is very Albany Great Dane.
  5. Its like that Christmas letter from an enthusiastic aunt when you're expecting a another card with a snowman on it. Only a few notes... Fred Jackson appears to be more interesting to Marv at RB than were Ken Simonton and his ilk. The WR's are certainly in competition if the the various packages are judged by their effectiveness rather than their appropriateness to situation. Roscoe could force his way onto the field on earlier downs if he should develop into something special. If the entire core progresses we may be spared the power running identity( 3.7 yards and cloud of huh ?). Never mind the cover 2 -- I think anything goes at corner. Draft, post draft cuts, street free agents stlill out there... Marv will sweat over this position. Linebacker is indeed a place to dream. Many useful players, many possible combinations; if they are serious about competition there could be a huge cut to be made. The offensive line is far from fixed with the two signings. Walker hasn't demonstrated the ability to play any position in his career thus far (this training camp would be nice). Fowler is Gandy-esque in his competence, professionalism and unfortunately in his expendability. The late second day draft picks are what they are -- so let the competition begin.
  6. I'm bumpy and not worth paying for.
  7. Let J.P. make the call. If he's game, I'm game.
  8. Thanks for that. Terrifically stupid remake.
  9. I get your point but I wonder what message trading Willis actually sent. He was pretty laid back for a "me" guy and came up with his wacky "best rb in the league" and "I didn't know it was 4th down" style quotes when prodded by equally dimwitted local bingo callers. We really shouldn't have taken him so seriously on a weekly basis (or in a monthly like Penthouse). Same goes for his "parting shots". Media savvy, he is not. He was probably an easy guy to like, in the room and on the field. My guess/hope is that whoever replaces him brings a lot more attitude.
  10. That is truly inspired. Why have I never tried, imagined or even heard of this.
  11. Fred Jackson, the Coe College Flash, the Sioux City Bandit, is closer to leading the team in rushing than anyone realizes. Marv told us that he wanted to upgrade the offensive line and it happened. Marv said that he and the staff were high on Jackson... you gotta' believe it could happen.
  12. I do. Strange that I had trouble buying Swank as a man in "Boys Don't Cry" and as a woman in Dahlia. Some other life form, I guess.
  13. Sorry if it was unclear, I was referring to his future and the understanding among GM's that holdout threats don't necessarily make him a bad guy.
  14. Nothing to like. He won't be discounted as a bad guy for wanting commitment at a violent position. It must be tough to play at one's best for the next contract when an injury means no contract.
  15. My personal strategy will be to drink heavily. It will take the sting out of trying to fathom Marv's unexpected collection of defensive backs/tight ends/wide recievers sure to be picked on day one. He will be right, of course, in not doing everything earthly possible to aquire Peterson, as I would prefer.
  16. Team guy money... two million a year is Josh Reed, Peerless Price, Coy Wire, Robert Royal money. Not lead tailback money. Before the Dockery-Walker signings this was known as " the Marv" standard contract. Not sweet, not sweet at all.
  17. Nice is an understatement. The comments are also well worth reading. Thanks.
  18. These late second day picks just wear me out. Again, the same people that draft Dylan McFarland, Ben Sobieski and the like try to pass these new ones off as starters. Maybe they are superior, maybe they can be coached up with an extra year in the program... had the new signings not happened we would be hearing about the value of "continuity". Ask Gandy or some of the cuts about "continuity"... Whew... never mind the unburdening... happy thoughts... happy thoughts...
  19. If Matthews were really a pessimist he could have questioned the offensive line. The same pro scouts that recommended Villarial, Reyes and Fowler made the push for Dockery and Walker. Question maybe whether they were really a nine or ten million dollar upgrade. I was optimistic about last year's starting five as I will be this year's. I won't assume they'll be wildly successful.
  20. Gunshot ... to the face ? Homicide, misadventure maybe. Keep an eye on this one.
  21. The kids haven't figured it out either. Architecture in Helsinki, Of Montreal, Boards of Canada... might be good but cursed by the geographical tagging.
  22. Somebody is missing the player with the "guess who's back" neck tattoo, methinks. I feel your pain.
  23. He was ordinary and then injured. The Bills looked at him in 2005 and passed whereupon he signed with Dallas, was cut, and moved to the Saints. 92 yards rushing. Jauron's " He's a terrific team player. He'll play the role he's asked to play and play it as hard as he can. " pretty much says it all. Solid professional, emergency starter.
  24. The committee does a pretty good job of sorting out those overgrown unbalanced conferences. K-State finished ahead of Texas Tech then beat them in the Big 12 tourney -- Huggins V Knight, fun stuff. I thought it looked wobbly for Tech until it was explained that they use the freakin' football divisions for the home and homes while tabling the standings all together. Say what you want about Knight's ,uh, personality, his results at Tech are remarkable. Recruiting classes consistently in the bottom third of that conference shoulda' doomed the man to obscurity...
  25. Girl is putting us on or she's bumped her head. If you want a man-ish comparison see the (awful) Black Dahlia with Johansson Vs. Hilary Swank. Terrifying excuse for a woman.
