It was nice to see a good overall perfomance from him. It seems the new DL coach is getting the most out of his trainees. Good for him.
-
Really? He doesn't have tools to work with? What? Do you think the guy is a no talent hack? One thing is not to like him, other thing is to doubt, at this point, the tools he has to work with. We saw him in the past making every throw and completing them. It's not a matter of poor mechanics or poor arm strength (granted, he doesn't have a rocket arm) His problems are in his head right now. He has to figure it out fast if he wants to remain a starter.

Hope is for fans to have, from a coach or a player standpoint it should be more than that.

we match up very badly against Miami's Wildcat
Fixxxer replied to UB2SF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, they didn't do much with it. If the Wildcat doesn't work early on they don't go back to it. You have to play with discipline, don't try to do to much, follow the ball and don't overreact to all the movement up front. If we defend it well they'll use the conventional offense with Henne and I like our chances there. -
I like Gruden and I would be very happy to see him as our coach. He has flaws as any coach, but he's young and I'm sure he can learn from them to be better. I don't know if he gave us false praise on MNF but it was interesting to see how animated he was talking about our team, of which I think has the horses to be a whole lot better than it is right now. It just needs a little better guidance from the HC.

Instead of tension, I sense a lack of chemistry on their part.

Not me, that's for sure, I care that they win. That is all.

What is troublesome is, he once was able to attempt and complete "deep" passes and not I'm not talking about bombs here. I saw him throwing a perfect fade route to Lee against the Rams last year. I saw him standing in the pocket waiting to be hit by Terdell Sands and delivering a perfect pass to Roscoe for a TD against the Raiders. I saw him throwing a perfect pass to Reed in the seam between 2 defenders to put us in position to win the game against the Redskins. There are more examples but my point is that he used to complete those 15-20 yard passes that right now would make a big difference in the scorebaord with the way our defense is playing. Now is about short passes and the occasional bomb away. I saw a guy playing with confidence, anticipation and being assertive in the passing game. Is that guy gone? What are the reasons for this guy to dissapear? Can that be brought back? He's young, so I voted let him ride the year, but if he keeps playing like this he will be no more than a back-up QB in this league.

I don't know about the Chargers, they lost Jamal Williams for the year and he's the main clog in the defensive machinery. I don't know if they have a guy that can replace what he does, heck I don't even know if they have wided body to just occupy space, on top of that they can't seem to pressure the QB as years past. Their offense might to do some damage on the dolphins, though.

Who do you want to replace Butler?
Fixxxer replied to toddgurley's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would like us to sign Runyan but keep Scott as the starter for now. Then if Runyan is superior, play him. -
Marcus Buggs made a couple of nice stops on Cadillac. He always filled the right gap and made the tackle. He didn't play much because the Bucs had to pass lot but when he was on the field his play was solid.

Great read GG, thanks for the link.

We should trade for Kitna, he'll know what to do.........

I noticed both pats outside linebackers covering the slant all night. They were standing in a zone preventing quick slants to either Lee or TO, with the mike LB covering the deep middle. They tried to apply pressure with four defensive linemen and that is why the screen passes worked perfect against that defense. The outside LB on either side were the only target an OL had to get their hands on and for the most part they were to far from the LOS to make a positive play. And they kept insisting with it, live or die against short passes and screens, which I thought it was odd coming from Bellichick, because we all know he likes to mix thing up a lot in the course of a game. As Kelly the Dog said the presence of Owens made the life easier for the O in general. It will be interesting to see what kind of defense we will face from now on. Will teams gamble a little and give one on one coverage to either Lee and TO, or will they give the Bills the underneath stuff and dare us to be patient and drive the lenght of the field to score points. If wee more defenses like we did monday night, it's imperative that we use Nelson a lot in the seam, exploit that middle of the field, much like Watson and Brady did to us. I like the match-up of Nelson against a LB. If Lee or TO see single coverage we have to exploit that until the defense can stop it. I'm optimistic that both AVP and Trent will see that and react accordingly.
-
If he gets sacked twice on the same drive I don't think he would.
-
I agree that sometimes he should take more chances downfield. though he hit both Lee and TO in the hands on crucial third downs and they couldn't hold on to the ball. Those were big plays that we didn't have. But we can't underestimate what AVP did tonight, he designed a gameplan and called the right plays at the right time (that is huge) for a QB that had some confidence problems in preseason games. If he can build his confidence those 15-20 range passes will come with time. AVP was great tonight and Trent was good in exectuing that gameplan.

Crabtree to re-enter draft
Fixxxer replied to Wilson from Gamehendge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When Neon Deion is your adviser, do the opposite. It's an old link but for those who didn't watch it. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-preseason/09...here-s-Crabtree -
Dislocated wrist, he might need surgery.

Crabtree to re-enter draft

I know it's illegal, hence the term private, though I should have written without the league or Goddell knowing about it. -
Crabtree to re-enter draft
Fixxxer replied to Wilson from Gamehendge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he enters the draft, I hope all 32 owners sign a private agreement not to draf the guy until a certain round, say the 3rd round. After that, it's fair game for any team that wants to deal with this malcontent. -
http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2009/8/30/...line-pittsburgh Read this fan report about how the line did against the Steelers, note #98 is Casey Hampton. I think he's a solid acquisition, he's not spectacular but he knows blocking angles and for being a guy sided by two rookies I'd say he's doing a good job, hopefully there can keep improving.

You guys want to talk about bad predictions

Also: Prediction V: Comeback years for LaDainian Tomlinson, Brian Urlacher, Kurt Warner jokes, Roy Williams, the "Da Bears" guys, the Seahawks, the Chaz Cinco/Carson Palmer hookup, Dom Capers, Ryan Grant, T.J. Houshmandzadeh and kids Karl Malone had out of wedlock. Fall-off years for the Dolphins and Falcons, Brian Westbrook, DirecTV ads, Emmitt Smith quote pages, the Wildcat offense, NFL players getting into trouble, dogfighting rings, Donovan McNabb and Steve Smith inexplicably punching out teammates. Breakout years for Aaron Rodgers jerseys, running backs named "Knowshon," tight ends named "Jermichael," Mike Lombardi, Rex Ryan, the Redskins' defense, giant video screens that look like UFOs and interfere with games, Detroit's Kevin Smith and "Drew Brees is a superduperstar" conversations. -
"It’s a play we always work on,” said Thomas. “I run toward the sideline and Andre Reed cuts across the middle. It’s like a pick play. We wiped two of their guys out, that’s why I was so wide open.” As simle as that.
