If I'm not mistaken he's listed as the strongside OLB behind Kelsay.
-
I think he was an OLB with 4-3 Giants. With the Phins and under Edwards tutelage Torbor was the back-up ILB for Ayodele and Crowder. I think this means the end of the line for Ellison. (back-up ILB)
-
Or maybe they realize that the OL still needs an injection of talent but given that the HC is offensive minded he prefers to coach up the guys he has on offense right now for his first coaching year, with plans of adding more talent in the future via draft or FA. Coach them up on offense, address the defense through the draft and FA. We knew that this was not going to be fixed in one offseason so I understand the approach Nix and Gailey are taking.

This team is going to be better than most think

So, you're not any different than the guys posting positive things about the team?????? I understand where you're coming from, you're tired of losing. Everybody is tired, even the fans that try to spin positively every move, because that is what being a fan is all about. This is a new management, let see what they can do before we burn them at the stake or crown them as saviors. -
I wanted to retain only three coaches from the last regime. April was the first one on the list, but I knew it was the beginning of the end for him in Buffalo when they named Fewell the HC. The other two were, Catavolos, great teacher for the secondary and Bob Sanders, made Kelsay productive. Two out of three is good for me. And I'm happy that we're going to the 3-4. Fewell is a great guy, but his defense was not a good fit for Buffalo. Hopefully he does well in his next job and a HC position opens for him. This year wil be a lot of fun.

"Clausen’s mechanics have him telegraphing throws at times – he’ll need to get over that in the pros. Tends to set his feet and lead coverage to his primary read without looking off defenders." This is what bothers me the most and it's not the first time I read it. He'll be eaten alive in the pros. If a scout (or two) can see this so will the HC and DCs that will gameplan for him. So while he's the most pro ready QB in the draft, he will still have to change some fundamental things like footwork, how is that different than changing your throwing motion? (and I don't like Teabow either)

Great research Astrobot, much appreciated.

And very underrated I might add. If the guy is healthy I can see him transitioning to the 3-4.

It seems they already miss Doug Whaley

I know he has been banged up a lot but if he pass the physical I sign him to be a 2 down lineman for the next couple of years. He would be a mentor and a lot of help in the defensive rotation, then draft a young buck, like Linval Joseph, Jay Ross, Terrell Troup. Williams would be a bridge for the young guys.
-
I liked Delhomme when the Panthers made a run to the postseason and the SB a couple of years back. He wouldn't be a bad option, you sign him and you let him compete for the starting position. It will be interesting to see if he will only go where he is promised the starting nod. I doubt teams will sign him outright to be their starter. About the high number of ints he threw the last couple of years I think he tried very hard to get Steve Smith the ball hence leading to bad decisions and forcing things that weren't there.

Larry Foote Jamal Williams Ben Watson Jarvis Green are some of the players I see the Bills pursuing.
-
Exactly and you forgot to mention that he did all this in a system that doesn't quite fit his type of game. He would be a lot more efficient in a vertical passing game with a strong running game than the WCO that the Skins tried to implement over the years. I think Campbell would the perfect QB for Gailey's offense. I think this makes sense, though I wouldn't like to see high draft picks involved in all of this. Maybe a later draft pick and I wouldn't feel so bad about it. I think they should try only to swap Whitner for Campbell and go from there.

Care to offer your opinion on Edwards as QB next year

I know we need to upgrade the LT position and more depth in general, but the fate of the QB (insert your name of preference) will be determined by the offensive system rather than the talent we have up-front. You can mask your defficiencies by doing what you do best and by trying not to force things up. Gailey is known to do more with less so I think we will be seeing a very different approach on offense. For once we will be unpredictable, for once we will be attacking defenses where they don't like being attacked. For once we have an offensive minded coach that knows a thing or two on offense that can maximize the talent on offense. (and yes we have some good talent there) Watching Schonert or AVP's trying to divise a gameplan or come up with adjustments was sad and unfair to the talent we have on offense. -
He's a very smart player, always knowing where to be on the field. I don't know if with his current seize he could make the transition to the 3-4. Problem with the Tampon2 we ran he was always covering deep and more often than not he was ran over by RBs, same as our safeties. I don't think he will be in the plans of Edwards, not at his current weight.

And all the 11 that were there, were family members.

Jeremy Shockey- biggest douche in the NFL
Fixxxer replied to youngjebrey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is my perception of him as well right now. I think watching the Giants winning it all from the booth made him come back to earth. Now I see a fiery competitor on the field, that knows his role on the team and not an abnoxious player throwing hissy fits for not getting the ball. Maybe he has finally matured. -
I don't know what is more pathetic, the guys twittering or the guys overeacting to a guy twittering. I will ponder on this later on.

Does the move to the 3-4
Fixxxer replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree, I didn't know Maybin's carrer was in life support. -
“Defensively, we will start from a 3-4 alignment,” said Edwards. “But we will do what we feel is best for our players. We are not going to give anything away about exactly what we will do, but personnel will dictate what you can and what you can’t do. As far as the initial alignment, the 3-4 is what we will start off with and we will adjust from there.” http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-3...c4-74e731938c0e

If you were sick of the CB 10 yard cushion and conservative bend and don't break defense then you would be sicker if Cottrell is our next DC. Hell of a guy, his players loved him but if you want and attacking D he's not the guy for the job. But that is not the worst part, the last couple of years he has been DC, with arguably talented players, he couldn't get the job done even with that brand of defense. I would be disapointed if he's named DC.
