  1. According to Clabo he wanted to accept the generous offer made by the Buffalo Bills believing that Buffalo presented the best opportunities for his career. However, after meeting with Roger Goodell, Clabo stated that Goodell convinced him that staying in Atlanta was in his best interest and the league's.
  2. Before the season, I stated that I was just hoping for improvement on both sides of the ball. Also, I was hoping that the games would be interesting/entertaining. But, I am sorry to say at this point in the season the Bills are nearly unwatchable. I hope that this might be one step backwards and two steps forward. I'm not optimistic. I see at least 3 years before this ship may be headed in the right direction and all that means is that we are competitive. That doesn't mean we are a winning franchise. You look at the Kansas City Chiefs and they seem to be headed in the right direction. On another note, I hate to say it but as much as we didn't like the comments of mpl...isn't he somewhat vindicated? Is he in hiding and doesn't want to say I told you so? Is he banned from the board? What is going on? I personally would like to read some of mpl's comments. It is certainly more interesting that watching the Bills.
  3. Sometimes it's the coaching. Sometimes it's the players you have around your qb. In the Bills case, it is probably a combination of the two.
  4. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that he has been suspended by the NFL for violating...
  5. I think you have to take the wind into account. I could remember when I had season tickets in the end zone and all of the scoring was at the one end of the field. Jauron couldn't think outside the box. Also, they Bills should always call tails. Why? because tails never fails!
  6. +1 for the legalize marijuana fan. Also, if my memory serves me right (and I think it does since I never smoked the wacky weed) a few days ago, the Bills put out an article on how Stupar is #1 on the depth chart. I would guess that the Bills knew this suspension was coming and put out the news story about Stupar being #1. Why would they do this? Maybe, to build Stupar's confidence so that he doesn't think he is the starter by default? Maybe to keep the fans quiet about another idiotic player making a mistake (ala Marshawn) and the potential impact it may have on the team? I don't believe in coincidences. BTW, I've liked Stupar even since last year's pre-season but I was hoping Shawn Nelson would step it up. Oh, well. GO BILLS and last nights game sparked my interest for this season. It could be interesting.
  7. They said he was seen for "complications" but in reality I think it may be too "complicated" for them to explain exactly what it is. Hopefully it is nothing serious because we need playmakers on the field and he certainly is one.
  8. Everyone needs to relax a little bit. The pre-season is essentially to evaluate talent, or lack of talent. The first pre-season game did that...mostly the latter. The pre-season record does not matter. I remember the Marv Levy Super Bowl years and the Bills pretty much stunk in the pre-season. But, the team KNEW and had CONFIDENCE that they were a very competitive team. This can NOT be said about the current team. This team at some point during the pre-season needs to show that they CAN get it done and gain some confidence and momentum. Then, they may BILLIEVE and play with some emotional intensity. With that being said, does that mean that I think the Bills will go to the playoffs with more confidence? No. But, it could mean a few more wins during what appears to be a long season.
  9. I watched the game last night and I saw a lot of the same. An offense that couldn't stretch the field. I'm hoping with O-line starters this will change? But everything offensively was short passes. Even the one deep ball thrown by Edwards I have a problem with the throw. It just seems that the throw has WAY too much air on it. Our deep throws alway seem to be a lob and hope that the receiver can catch up to it. Is this because the receiver is mostly covered? Is this because the O-line can't hold the rushers any longer and the QB has to get rid of it? I'm not sure but I would sure like to see the QB throw more of a laser down the field for the deep ball. I see other QB's throw passes (not a lob or jumpball) to a wide receiver who is well covered, the corner isn't looking and the receiver makes the catch. I haven't seen that from the Bills in years. Just the deep lob pass that rarely connects. I also saw a defense that could not generate a pass rush. I know this is pre-season but I was hoping for a little progress. Not the same old stuff.
  10. The Reverend Jesse Jackson came to our High School in the the '80's and asked us to repeat after him. It went like this..."I am somebody" and "Up with hope, down with dope." He repeated these phrases and we responded for several minutes. Quite inspirational. Maybe you or Trent can incorparate these Jacksonism into their routing. You had to be there to really enjoy the intonations by the Rev. " I AM......SOME....BODY" "UP WITH HOPE (we respond) then followed by "DOWN WITH DOPE"
  11. Sorry, sarcasm can be tough to detect with the written word if you are unfamiliar with the poster. If I have been on this message board longer I would be such a dork right now. Sarcasm noted.
  12. What in particular makes you think he is a Richard? I really don't think what he said is bad at all. He said training camp is a tough grind which it should be. I would be more concerned if he said training camp was boring, repetitive and not worth his time. He even mentions that training camp build team cohesion. Also a good thing. Then he states that this is the most important season of his career. I see this as he is trying to motivate himself and I would expect that every new season is the most important season. The only problem with his post that I really didn't understand was the parts where he was "lol" and mentioning the cold. Otherwise, I hope the kid makes an impact.
  13. No, the analogy doesn't fit perfectly as is the case with most analogies. Maybe we can start a string of the perfect analogy to describe the Buffalo Bills? Just kidding but my analogy does make sense (or cents?) if you look at it from a gambler's perspective. When gambling on horses or football (or jai alai for that matter) past performance makes a difference. And yes, there are teams that go from worst to first. That is why I'm still optimistic for a great season but in all reality, I'll be happy with modest improvement throughout the season. And to go back to my original analogy...we have new trainers with a lot of young horses in the stable that I hope will turn into studs! Remember, the Kentucky Derby is for 3 yr olds.
  14. How about this for an analogy. I use to bet on horses. I didn't know a whole lot about horses. I didn't know training methods either. But, I knew how to read the daily racing form. It showed the history of past race performance. With the Bills, it is pretty much the same stable of horses with a different trainer/coach. Yes, sometimes a new trainer can bring life to a bad horse. But, Chan Gaily did not just claim ONE bad horse. He and Nix inherited a stable of bad horses and it's doubtful all of them are suddenly going to turn into Kentucky Derby horses. Maybe one or two of the horses will get better but not all of them. I don't need to be an expert at football (nor horses) to know where to put my money. I am looking forward to the season and hoping for modest improvement throughout the year...especially for the offense. GO BILLS
