  1. Here is a link with some articles/links regarding what Pittsburgh leaders did after voters said no to using public funds for subsidizing the team (steelers/pirates) stadiums, aka "Plan B". Spoiler alert, they used public funds, but it wasn't as much as first proposed and there were some "creative" funding ideas too. http://old.post-gazette.com/planb/ Unfortunately not all the links work, but from what I remember the state money given as part of the funding had incentives tied to it that encouraged the teams to develop the land in between the two stadiums to produce x amount of tax revenue through sales. If the tax base didn't increase by that amount over the agreed upon timeline the money went from a grant to a loan, so the teams were highly motivated. The original three rivers stadium had plans to develop the same property but since the government was managing it nothing ever happened. Not to mention the original principle on three rivers was still owed, they had been paying the interest only for the entire thirty years it was in existence.
  2. Just remember Seantrel had first round talent and dropped to us in the 7th. I don't know how much he would be able to help a team this year, with the strength issues he has. I'm guessing whoever takes him will have a practice squad player or a gameday inactive all year.
  3. I'm guessing he's not ground and pound enough for our current coaches. Looked good to me in pass protection and getting to the next blocking level. I like what the coaches asked of him. It will be interesting to see how the off field stuff affects him - might go much lower than his talent level.
  4. I'm pretty impressed with that game tape. Doesn't get off the snap quickly, but assuming because he doesn't really care or have to work hard. Good feet, delivers good blows. SC at times didn't even line a player up over him. To me, that's a sign of respect. Maybe I'll have to look at a few more game tapes. Is there a game where he went against a top DE?
  5. Grandma must party like a rock star if the family can't get out of there before 3:30 am
  6. And *gasp* sometimes good/talented teams only play the rookies who can handle it, like the rookie year for Timmons/Woodley where the 2nd round pick (Woodley) started from the getgo and 1st round pick L Timmons didn't see the field on defense much.
  7. I don'the see why Rex would say he hadn'the spoken to him. That is a sign of issues with cw, the shul have at least been some communication be teen the two?
  8. I'm thinking they're getting Seantrel ready to be a swing tackle. Maybe Glenn and Henderson start but if one of them gets hurt Kujo comes in as RT and the other plays LT. Plus if we're not able to sign Glenn we have someone who can step in the following year. I also thought it was interesting that Marrone thought "Henderson consistently performed the best of all of the team’s offensive linemen last season.". I don't remember that being talked about here, didn't PFF rate him pretty low?
  9. Sure, but when a coach says something like this about a specific player, he probably thinks his ceiling is pretty high and is willing to go get him. I'm assuming Lee has coached up quite a few players in his day and it seems like high praise to me. And it's always good to have a solid connection with your coach.
  10. From the other thread started by 26: http://blogs.northjersey.com/blogs/greenmachine/simms_claimed_by_bills/ “I’m happy to be reunited with Rex,” Simms said, adding that Ryan and Lee “know my personality. They know the type of guy I am.” Lee, while with the Jets, praised Simms’ work ethic. Lee said last August, “Matt Simms has improved as much as any guy I think I can ever remember coaching.” I'm guessing that's the reason he is here and has a chance to make the team.
  11. I'm with you. I thought Geno did a decent job getting the ball out under pressure which is always a pretty big attribute for me. I also liked Glennon better than Ej too. Just assumed after we took ej that the off field intangibles were that much better with EJ than the others.
  12. We need to fire the mechanic and the person who planted the tree.
  13. I'm thinking Hogan is less useful in this offense because the TE will play a bigger role. I think Clay eats up all the work Hogan did last year. In the end, I will be surprised if we go with 6 wrs because I'm assuming we may have and extra rb/fb/te or even db instead. So I think Goodwin makes it, Hogan is out and hopefully Lewis is on the PS for backup if/when Goodwin gets hurt. Easley may have to perform reasonably well at wr in this scenario or we may try to trade him and instead keep either Hogan or Lewis.
  14. The interviews may not have gone well. I'm guessing he may be able to earn a PS spot, he had some good work on that tape.
  15. If I'm the nflpa, I'm pushing for this scenario for all the rookies instead of a draft. Teams have their rookie pool money and they go out and sign who they want.
  16. You mean like deer in the backyard kind of luck?
  17. According to rotoworld he has a no trade clause too. I didn't know his contract was so big. Although if he's willing to opt out, he wants to win and may be more flexible about salary.
  18. How about McKelvin for alex mack? Pettine knows McKelvin and word is mack has a reason for an opt out clause. He or wood could play G.
  19. They also have a stable front office and don't change coaches every three years, hence not spending draft picks getting guys to fit their system let alone start. Plus the new system needs to be learned and there are only so many snaps to get this done. They are close to being able to spend the draft resources to be able to do this. I think once Rex gets a year under his belt we should start swinging for the fences.
  20. As mentioned above Leroi warned us. Multiple times. Feel free to search for Ronald Darby on this site.
  21. I just don't know if our qb will be accurate enough to keep him healthy.
  22. Ohh boy, bullying doesn't take long to rear it's ugly head again! Well, when you realize that changing personnel groupings allows you to attack different parts of the field you'll see a need for Goodwin. If you just want to get "your best 5" out there all the time, you won't. And then, toward the end of the year teams will start to lock you down because of it.
  23. I guess Tuel doesn't need a ball for practice?
