  1. In steps Leonard Floyd for the 49ers in a week 1 matchup versus the Jets, on Monday night, 2 days short of one year.
  2. Roger Goodell and the rest of the owners be like... And before all of the typicals start saying, "It's a business, of course they're trying to make the most money." There are lines they can cross which compromise the integrity of the game. There has already been talk of things being "predetermined" without their involvement in the gambling scene. Now it just seems like an open season of opportunity with how much $$$ is involved.
  3. Word is Rashee Rice was on the way to deliver the pizza
  4. In steps @Billl in defense of the next Chiefs player
  5. Royce West: "Boy, you better get out there and do some things in the community to make yourself look better." Rashee Rice: "Say no more fam, I got you."
  6. He's already skipping OTA's. He might go full Antonio Brown/Raiders now.
  7. Sign draft picks and keep the rest in the bank for in-season moves. We only have like $2M in room right now. We're not trading for anyone of importance. What you see is what you get at this point.
  8. We already know how Josh can carve up the intermediate to deep parts of the field when the opportunity is there. I don't expect him to forsake that by any means. But if we can get Josh processing like Burrow did at LSU, and he starts shredding teams underneath, he's basically gonna be unstoppable.
  9. New system, stepping into a league where everyone is the best of the best, and new people to throw the ball to. It will take him some time to get used to the difference in the speed of the game, the tighter windows, and getting to know his teammates. He'll be fine.
  10. If only Antonio could have lost his wallet like you
  11. Sponsor deals from who? Nexium for causing heartburn? Excedrin for being a headache? Preparation H for being a pain in the bum?
  12. If this is sort of an "excused absence" then I don't really see anything big about it. It is voluntary. Still, you would think that someone going to a new team, and has this "stigma" around them as to being a head case and a potential problem, would want to put their best foot forward. That he would also want to get in as much work around and with his new teammates as possible. Apparently not. It could be something, or it could be nothing.
  13. Oh, yeah, I don't know enough about any football player outside of football to be able to say "he definitely could" or anything like that. Most of them have only been football players since they finished HS. You don't really see the two way players like that much anymore. They typically focus on one thing now, and I believe partially because of how the seasons overlap one another. It's much easier for a football player to also double up in baseball. I also agree that Zion, physically, could probably play, but he is often injured even on the basketball court. Westbrook and Rose could likely have played WR or one of the DB positions. They said LeBron was good as a WR in HS, I've seen some of the old videos, and he probably could have been an elite TE in the NFL. Anthony Edwards seems like he's athletic enough to play WR in the NFL. Charlie Ward was a better QB than he was a PG, but still played for 12 years in the NBA. In all, I'm sure there are some exceptions when you take into account the number of players in each sport. Guys who might be able to play the other. It doesn't mean they would be top shelf in the other sport, just that they could make a roster. Using Gates as a cross-reference to generalize all of them is grasping at straws. It's not that easy and not everyone is built where they could be as successful as he was.
  14. I understand basketball. I played for years. I also understand how gifted athletes are in any professional sport. I believe you're wrong on Peppers. He was a plus athlete, who was also 6'7" and 290lbs. His handles weren't crazy or anything, but he surely could post up anyone and he had hops. I think he could have certainly carved out a bench role, especially given the style of the game at that time. Rivers was acting like almost any basketball player could transition over to football. He's full of it. Just because you're big, can run, and are good at basketball does not mean you could transition that to a football field. It's a different type of coordination when you have to focus on doing your job and 200-300lb man is about to light you up on top of it. I respect all of them, in any professional sport. I think a lot of it, with these gifted types of athletes, comes down to which game they love more. If football is their passion, and they are gifted at their respective positions, then they are more likely to carve out a career in that sport over another. If basketball is their passion, and they are gifted at their respective positions, then they are more likely to carve out a career in that sport over the another. I do think there are guys who could be successful at both, had they chosen to put their all into the other sport.
  15. Austin Rivers is auditioning for the role of Stephen A. with an intact hairline. Complete 🤡. Tony Gonzalez did play football at Cal. Antonio Gates is the exception. Mo Allie Cox is meh. Julius Peppers probably could have played either sport, but chose football. Randy Moss could have possibly played basketball as well. I'm sure there are numerous guys who could have played either sport.
  16. Ryan Clark said he's always been this guy. He talked about AB blowing up on him and others in practice telling them they better not put a hand on him because he was the franchise. Clark said he warned them not to give AB a big contract because of the monster it would create. Pittsburgh did just that. Tomlin managed him and his behavior behind the scenes for quite a while, then they finally shipped him out. After that, he went into a complete free-fall. He kept it together long enough to poach a ring on Brady's coattails, but was soon last seen walking off the field with his shirt off when he quit mid-game. Thankfully, that trade fell through for us. It would have been the worst trade of all time and we'd still be going on about how stupid it was to this day.
  17. Out on bail, fresh outta jail, Aaron Rodgers dreamin'
  18. It is a flier. But Claypool accomplished more in his first two seasons than all of them did/have in their entire careers COMBINED, and that's including both Duke Williams and Robert Foster in this mix with those you mentioned. His chances of amounting to something are more so than the rest. Just saying.
  19. Can't say this comes as a shock. Sadly, I feel he will soon be a statistic. Better case scenario is he just fades into anonymity.
  20. I think he could very well eat into Cook's playing time a little, but not much. Cook did have some terrible drops last year, three of which were walk-in TD's. I still think Cook is first man up given he had almost 1,600 total yards last year, with 1,122 of that coming on the ground. Coleman - 50-70 catches for 700-900 yards. Bishop - Depends on how quickly he picks up the defense, but the athletic traits and instincts are there. Carter - Will immediately be in the rotation, but I don't expect much in year one. Davis - Will immediately be a rotational guy, taking over the Murray snaps, and be a solid contributor. Van-Ran Granger - I think he has a chance to push McGovern back to LG before the C experiment even starts. Ulofoshio - Will make the team, but mainly be a ST guy or likely inactive on Sunday's Solomon - Has a chance if he can show some juice in TC and the preseason, but most likely PS Grable - Has the chance to be one of the backup OL'men this year, but is most likely PS bound Hardy - I think Hardy makes the 53 as our primary returner and a backup NCB The rest are cut outright, with maybe three or four being stashed on the PS.
  21. I think that the Diggs move is addition by subtraction. His diva mentality and sideshow antics being gone will breathe new life into everyone else on the offense. That being said, it remains to be seen whether our WR group can get it done in his stead. I'm not going into the overall WR discussion again because I've already made my thoughts known. Hopefully Knox can get back on track and clean up the drops. Hopefully Kincaid takes a big step forward. Hopefully this forces Josh to rely on his checkdown options at RB more in Cook, Davis, and Johnson. Brady LIVED off of taking what the defense gave him for 20 years. Can Shakir turn into our "Amon-Ra Lite" with a heavier workload? Josh could have his best season ever if he takes what the defense gives him at all times. If he insists on forcing the ball downfield then he could run into turnover problems and give all of the bobbleheads more reason to say it was Diggs who made him. Hopefully we see the full maturation of JA17 this season and consistently takes what the defense gives him. If he does, then he will be pretty much unstoppable and it will be his best ever.
  22. I don't know if anyone would trade for him. He's a brittle QB who has had multiple concussions. Two of those being quite scary imo. The next could be his last. Then he has meh arm strength. Which team is going to trade for that and then give him $175M gtd with an annual average of $50M? I don't think there's a market for him. If he would have been a FA, I think he gets a Baker Mayfield type of deal.
  23. It sounds like 5 of the 6 WR's are pretty much decided. Coleman, Samuel, Shakir, Hollins, and MVS pretty much sound like locks from listening to Beane talk. To me, when talking about the draft, I think Beane and Co. were going to take one of either Legette or Coleman. They traded back with Carolina because they knew at least one of the two would be there. Our pick, obviously, was Coleman. They were good with that from all of their interactions and evaluations. Beane sounds like he's still holding out hope that Von returns to the form we saw prior to the ACL. I'm not as optimistic. It also sounds like Epenesa may get his number called a bit more this year. I like Rousseau. The kid is a monster against the run and has positional flexibility. Still, idk if he's ever going to be that 12-15 sack type of DE. After that, a couple of JAGs in Toohill and Smoot. He mentioned Solomon, but then said they're not really sure if he'll contribute this year. As a whole, our DE group is a bit underwhelming. When talking about Brady, you could pick up on what caused them to pull the plug on the Dorsey experiment. You could see it as well with Dorsey. He just didn't seem like that leader of men you look for in a coordinator. He also seemed to want to do things his way, and their was no adaptation. Brady seems to be more on Josh's level and can actually lead the offensive group. He also seems to be able to make adjustments on the fly. That's what I took from Beane's comments. Beane is always a pretty good interview.
  24. You hate to see it.
