Could Evans ..all things being equal..
Lofton80 replied to Tcali's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Evans has talent but he is not a go to guy on third down. He runs the down and out and the streak quite well. Never really seen him in the middle of the field do much. Fitz is dynamite right now very Rice like. -
We as Bills fans got put in our place by AZ this season....

Warner handles the blitz quite well and Pitt has not been running the ball. If Hines Ward can't play who knows? -
How Fast Will the Giants Decline Take Place?

They draft well up front and they are a physical team. They are going no where. -
Julius Peppers wants out
Lofton80 replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
70 sacks in 105 games. 36 passes batted down. 4 interceptions and 500+ tackles. Consider he is double teamed on most downs. He can take a few downs off with that production. Peppers is well noted to take downs off. We need a DE with his skill but not one with his heart for the game. -
Interesting 1 Round Mock Draft......
Lofton80 replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love the pick. Not likely to happen. 4 OT's in top 11? Big guys are needed though. -
This thread is comical. Our owner is never going to pay the dollars these guys command. The NFL coaching fraternity has surely been informed by our former employees what a zoo Ralph runs. Shanahan or Holmgren answering to Russ Brandon?
-
I hope they pick someone with some toughness. No thanks to a TE at 11. DE, DT and C are more presssing needs. I expect DJ and the inner circle to target a wr or db. Cushing is a tough sob, I'm all for that pick.

Julius Peppers wants out
Lofton80 replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My guess is Carolina will tag him and trade him rather than letting him walk. As for his ability, he would be Buffalo's best player on day one. -
Three problems with this scenario: 1.) Canty plays DE in a 3-4, unless the Bills plan to switch to that alignment--which there is no indication they will do--it doesn't make sense. He doesn't seem to be a great fit at either DE or DT in a 4-3. Plus, 10 sacks in 64 career games (50 starts) as a pro, never eclipsing 3.5 sacks in a season? I'm not seeing the productivity that would warrant adding him to help the pass rush. I see no reason a 3-4 end cannot play in a 4-3. Ware was at the line of scrimmage on most plays and one could argue that Dallas used a 4 man front. Canty is 6-5 and 297, I think he could hold the point of attack just fine in a 4-3. I read a nice quote by Parcells about Canty and he felt his sack numbers were lower becasue he played on weak side while Ware was turned lose. I bet Miami signs him if Dallas doesn't. He has always had a high number of pressures which are equally important. 2.) Where do people get the idea that Hargrove is an NFL DE? He had 2 sacks in 22 games with Buffalo, how can you rail on Kelsay for his lack of productivity and in the same post support the signing of a guy that's just as ineffective? He and Kelsay are very similar in productivity. In Hargrove's best season, he had 6 sacks, and 4 of them came in the final 3 weeks of the season. In Kelsay's best season, he had 5 sacks, and 2 came in one game. I'm all for picking up a DE, but let's get one that can play football. If there's not one available in free agency, then draft a few, but there's no point in signing guys that we know cannot play just for the sake of bringing in someone. Hargrove lived in the backfield and pressured the QB. He played with tremendous energy. I would pick him up as a backup not to replace Kelsay. he could be had for a fair cost. Now Canty I would gladly put in place of Kelsay. 3.) Aaron Curry is a top 5 pick, the Bills pick No. 11, not gonna happen. Agree though sometimes the ratings shift around after workouts and all star games. Curry is a playmaker.

Sign Chris Canty from Dallas, sign the reinstated Hargrove and draft Curry of Wake Forest. Would be an improvement. More likely scenario we will extend Kelsay for his leadership and great quotability, resign Crowell and draft a safety.

Continuity is the catch phrase. A change to a football strategy would take years to implement and cause a disruption in Buffalo. Meanwhile, The G-Men won a Super Bowl with a new DC last year. Miami went to the playoffs with an overhaul. Our inner circle thinks otherwise. Other consideration is DJ probably is not going to attract top assistants if his career losing continues.

8) Anything else I've missed Toughness, relentless desire to beat the guy in front of you and bury the QB. No read and react, good workout numbers, high motor types. Have our inner circle follow Jerry Reese's playbook in NY. He seems to get the pass rushers year after year. Rather than focus on selecting all the class presidents and community volunteers, maybe DJ will push for someone that has actually hit a QB in his career.

Stroud played well. He was certainly an upgrade over Triplett and McCargo. I was disappointed at the way NE handled Stroud with single blocking, he was eliminated repeatedly by the NE guard one on one. I would add a year and kick him some bonus dollars but not break the bank. Team needs to draft another middle round DT who can contribute.
-
There will be other names out there in due time. Draft and Free Agency sets off domino effect. No hurry overpaying for any of these guys.

If the price is fair, he would make sense. Vet like this prob wants to be on a sure winner, not sure he wants to be a Bill.

Could We Make a Run at Jordan Gross and............
Lofton80 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good stuff Bill. Peters has so much talent. He had trouble with the outside rushers this year that he never had before. I would say conditioning and the loss of Mouse on the sidelines contributes to that. Hopefully, Brandon does one smart thing and signs Peters. If the lynch mob wants to address an overpaid lug, I wish they would target Dockery rather than Peters. Peters wins most of his battles along the way while Dockery is always in a standoff. We need some toughness on this team. Peters is tough and talented. Pay him! Draft some tough guys. There is a great article in SI last week about Baltimore's drafting strategy. They look for tough, aggressive players. Guys can have high character and still be tough. Enough with the class president's and Eagle Scouts, let's draft some hitters. Brandon has probably zeroed in on another kick returner/punt returner as we can never have enough of those. Our mock drafts all indicate a love for safety's and wideouts. Our fanbase has been brainwashed by Ralph "inner circle". -
Always injured............pass

Dawkins is simply one of the best defenders in the NFL. He took Brandon Jacobs down one on one in the first half. Our linebackers can't even make that play. Football is a tough violent game, I would be thrilled to have Dawkins on our team.

Bills' offense vs. playoff team offenses

Derrick Mason was open consistantly with a variety of moves. Made me wonder why a talented guy like Evans couldn't do the same. -
Former Bear Rex Grossman or or former Lion JT O'Sullivan will be manning the clip board. Shane Matthews anyone?

Everette Brown Scouting Report

Sounds like a keeper, Rey Maualuga, ILB, USC, Aaron Curry, OLB, Wake Forest, Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech and Brian Cushing, OLB, USC all would be welcome. We need a playmaker. -
How great would it have been to have a player like Ray Lewis?

He is a great leader. Refuses to lose. Demands top effort from his teammates. Our leader text messages valentines to DJ. -
Balt has a tough physical defense. Fun to watch.
