Places close to the ralph to eat before the game
Lofton80 replied to Drew026's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Steve Pig and Ox Roast is a winner. Right off the 219. Jacoby's is great for pizza and wings, it's right around the corner from Steve's. -
We had some stretches where we ran the ball well on first down, Edwards was sacked twice, once on a second and five and once on 2 and 3. He threw his 4th Q int after Lynch had gained 20 yards on 3 consecutive carries. Drives killed by sacks, ints and third and 1 swing passes. I looked at NE's last 4 games and they gave up yards per pass to Indy was 8.8, Rams 7.1 and SD was 11.3 per pass play. Yesterday we were 4.3 yards per pass play. Basically, dink and dunks; checkdowns. 3 plays over 10 yards, one was a run after catch by Roscoe and one was the TD to Hardy with the game all but over. Bad blocking, no seperation, bad throws, bad play calling and bad preparation for what NE would try to take away all contribute to this loss.

We actually had some stretches where we ran the ball well on first down, Edwards was sacked twice, once on a second and five and once on 2 and 3. He threw his 4th Q int after Lynch had gained 20 yards on 3 consecutive carries. Drives killed by sacks, ints and third and 1 swing passes. NE has had a good run defense which isn't surprising considering their big front 4 and run stopping lb's. I looked at NE's last 4 games and the yards per pass play stat is where we stink. Indy was 8.8, Rams 7.1 and SD was 11.3 per pass play. Yesterday we were 4.3 yards per pass play. Basically, dink and dunks; checkdowns. 3 plays over 10 yards, one was a run after catch by Roscoe and one was the TD to Hardy with the game all but over. The reason why the Bills Defense is Bad!

Not a bad idea. We seem very predictable right now. -
No pass rush, cover 2 giving the underneath stuff. Move the sticks. Wash rinse repeat

A Few Thoughts About The Game

Belichek must laugh when he plays against Jauron. Buffalo comes out and plays cover 2, rushes 4 and gives up the underneath stuff all day. Pretty much gives Cassell exactly what he is capable of. Terrible tackling, no pass rush, occasional blitzers always get picked up. A nine minute drive to finish the game. A weak effort all around. I think our LB and cb play so far off the ball, it probably telegraphs the blitz when they get close as our guys get blocked every time. No red flag on Welker's catch was pathetic. They showed it 3 times. -

Jauron appears satisfied to say we only lost by 10 rather than try to take any risks and win the game. -

Why not a chance at Hardy on the fade? -
I like it, he certainly can pass block. We'll see on the run game.

Jerry Sullivan: Class of ’08 little help for the Bills
Lofton80 replied to TheBlackMamba's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They have shown glimpses of talent. Hardy will be fine once he learns how to use that big body to ward off defenders. His touchdown catch against Jax in a clutch situation was not a fluke. He went high snagged the ball and danced both feet down with a defender in his shirt to win a game on the road. He started off Arizona with two good catches and has disappeared since. I would not call him a bust just yet. Evans, Moulds and many others were slow out of the box. McKelvin has shown flashes as a returner. He has some bright moments with more than one 40+ yard return and a lot of mediocre returns. Following the all pro McGee creates high expectations, I think McKelvin breaks one before long. As a coverage guy, he is not ready as soon as one would expect from a #11 pick but he is not terrible. Let's see what he can do the second half of the season before we bury him. Ellis is definitely a concern as this is a problem area. I imagine he is weak against the run which makes it tough to use him in Fewell's cover 2. Maybe use him as a standup rusher as a linebacker off the edge. Anything would be an improvement. -
Turnovers are needed to win on the road. We stop giving the ball away and we can beat this team.

Marshawn Lynch looking for the homerun on every run play
Lofton80 replied to Lynch4mvp's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wonder the same thing keepthefaith. Seems like they always drop 8 at the right time. Blowing up the center of the line doesn't help the run but it does seem like we are easy to figure out. it's a copy cat league and I am sure Belechek will employ some of the same looks this week until the Bills show they can stop it. -
Kota nailed it. He is always coming to a stop on patterns. To his defense, Trent has not been that accurate in throwing to him.

A Few Thoughts About The Game
Lofton80 replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Best post I have read about yesterday's debacle. Hard to believe we were still in this game at the end. Its important to remember a couple things: - It is always hard to win on the road in the NFL... a basic formula is to win at home and split on the road to get to 12-4 - which usually means a home playoff game - Everyone in the division has one divisional loss. The Bills and Pats have both lost to Miami - and the Pats already lost to Miami at home, that puts us a nose ahead of the Pats in my book. - Considering all of the boneheaded mistakes the Bills made in this game: not scoring a TD on 1st and goal from the 5, snapping the ball over the punter's head into the end zone, fumbling on a QB sneak after getting a first down, giving up a safety on a three-man rush, and finally fumbling after converting a third-and-twenty - its actually kind of amazing how much into this game we really were. -
Excellent post as always. The problem with the pass rush is the cover two scheme depends on the front 4 to bring the pressure. Schobel appears to be the only capable pass rusher. Today seemed like a repeat of the Cardinal game. Watching the Giants and Steelers, they bring a lot of rushers not just the front 4.

A Few Thoughts About The Game

Cannot agree BuffaloWing. I understand that theory if you are a struggling team needing a boost. A first place team playing a rebuilding Dolphin team should be able to get a yard. Leaves the Dolphins with 99 yards to go at the least. Parcells and Belichek go for it all day there. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game

I thought Peters smothered Porter most of the day one on one. Unfortunately for him, he got beat at a bad time. That said, Dockery made a poor effort to help Peters there and it was a three man rush. Ginn was the biggest reason we lost today. Wobbled throws five seconds in the air still found him wide open. We had a nine point lead after a great third quarter drive and he catches a crossing route for 60 yards to put them back in the game. Trent Edwards fumble on the short yardage conversion on the next possession was a dumb play by a smart player. Royal's fumble was a dumb play by a veteran, getting the first is the hard part of the play, now protect the ball. Jauron going for the field goal on the first possession was a weasel call. Lynch's drop on the screen may have been a huge play. I thought #23 played pretty well. It appeared in the 4th Q, Trent was throwing every play to Lee Evans. Hardy seems to come to a stop every time the ball comes his way. Rarely see him catch it in stride. With Reed out, he has to step up. -
Picking on McGee
-
Defensive line will be first prority. Denny, ASchobel, Kelsay and Stroud are not young. Add some young talent to the DLine. If not go Oline.
-
I think Fowler should get to 100 % before rushing back. Give it another 8 weeks.
-
I have been watching Peters the last two weeks and he is back in form after a sloppy start. He is a good football player and still somewhat inexperienced. Preston appears to be an upgrade over Fowler. Now if we could get Butler up to speed we may have a good line.
