I probably just send them deep on every play just to clear guys out for runs or an underneath receiver, with the odd chance they happen to beat their man and we get a big chunk. It’s pretty obvious Josh doesn’t trust many guys out in patterns to throw it up and make a play.

Like others have stated, all I can figure about the defensive strategy going into the game was that they were concerned that weather/field conditions were going to favor the offense, and trying to have your corners back-pedalling and flipping their hips trying to cover Chase and Higgins with man wasn't going to work. I heard somewhere it was Hairston's first time playing in the snow. But Burrow and those receivers (and Gesicki) were just too good. I'm not defending, but rather speculating. FWIW, I don't think he's alone in that regard amongst NFL coaches.

I think because McD has head coaching duties, including offense and ST that occupy his brain fully until halftime, which is when the staff can actually have a conversation about adjustments. Just too hard to do effectively on the fly.

Same here. The line I hear is that the team is ahead of schedule with their franchise QB, organizational alignment, a very good coach, and a ton of cap space. Their future is bright.
