Honestly, I think it’s as simple as McD and Beane valuing intangibles like character, toughness (physical and mental), and intelligence over raw physical abilities like speed. Is that right? I don’t know. But I suspect it’s their general MO.
I'll play devil's advocate on the bolded. Why is that necessarily a great thing? Are you saying Josh's decision-making is infallible? We know that's not exactly true.
Who are the new leaders that Josh will look to for feedback on team-wide culture stuff?
Don't discount the importance of a strong leadership team.
So, are you arguing that they shouldn't have extended him, or that the extension is for too much?
