  1. There's a ton of data, but in what format? Film? that's not data digestible by an analytics system. That's EXACTLY what I mean by taking years to have it in a format you can actually aggregate and measure it. Film is dark data. It is data that exists, but you really can't do a damn thing with it until it is put in a cube or tabular data store so you can analyze it.
  2. I'm not sure someone says "analytics" and all of the sudden you have all of the info. The very first step in analytics is deciding what you want to measure. Secondly, you have to capture the data you want to measure. Depending on how you do it, it could be YEARS before you have data that can point you in the right direction. The whole thing about all of the sudden having "analytics" and being able to draw conclusions from it is just asinine. I know that not everyone knows much about the technology and how it works, but please use your heads.
  3. I care. I'd love a new stadium if it was downtown or closer to Rochester. What people don't realize is that even though there are a ton of fans from Rochester, people are being alienated because, frankly, the two hour drive there and 2 1/2 (at least) drive back, including traffic, sucks. It is THE main reason I don't have season tickets, and don't attend too many games. For Rochester folks, we're talking a 4 hour total commute MINIMUM just to see a game. Have an 8 to 10 hour day to see a game is too much with job responsibility, family responsibility, house to take care of, etc. If the stadium was 20 minutes to 1/2 hour closer it would be a different story. And this isn't involving the comfort factor. Frankly, as I get older, it becomes a little more important. I've spent plenty of time freezing my a$$ off over the years. Paid my dues. Watched games in the rain, snow, cold, wind, etc. I've been hit by cups of beer, snowballs, and been accosted by fans of both the opposing team and Bills fans. I've been vomited upon, because morons drink too much. That's fine, but to sit in traffic and drive 3 hours home after all that is a bit much, especially after paying for the privilege. So a new stadium with a retractable roof that is a little closer to (my) home is a damn good idea in my book. I'd pay an extra $10 a ticket for it at least.
  4. It isn't his ankle. He probably just has sand in his v.
  5. Ah, the continental! My band played there in the early 90s. We drove from Rochester to play just because it was a cool thing to do.
  6. This. Ralph did buffalo a major solid by making it very difficult for someone to move the team, then by donating the proceeds of the sale to his foundation. That is so cool it brings a tear. I never want to hear a disparaging word about Ralph ever again.
  7. I LOVE that Orton answer. Whoever asked it knew they were being a d-bag.
  8. Letting him go was a good move by Whaley.
  9. Whaley has brought some really great talent to the team. The team is arguably the most talented since the late 90s. But he has completely mismanaged the QB position at every level possible. That is a fireable offense, and overshadows all the good he has done.
  10. He also missed some ridiculous passes. Ej lost the game today.
  11. He's had 14 games. He should be playing better than that by now. The guy can't hit an open WR. Throws behind them all the time, overthrows long balls, and when finally someone is so wide open even I could hit it, the WR needs to slow down. I was all for being patient for a while, but he's awful. This team is too talented to have a crappy QB ruin things for them. He needs to sit and watch someone else play QB. If EJ is going to be a good QB, he's going to need an epiphany to get there.
  12. HD for me on my local channel through DirecTV. I loathe time warner, and am happy I no longer need to give them a dime. Internet is through GreenLight.
  13. Why do you think the Cheatriots were able to reclaim so many older players who were on the decline, but suddenly with the pats they were productive again? I think the "Patriot* Way" included some additional chemical enhancements for the old guys.
  14. Who would we cut that we aren't trying to develop? Who's potential are we willing to sacrifice to bring in Bailey who is an old guy who will be here for a year?
  15. Exactly the kind of doom and gloom, worst case scenario thinking we are plagued with. I don't think we should think that way. It is fatalistic, and can promote a self-fulfilling prophecy.
  16. I miss hearing that guy talk. What a hell of a defensive coach he is!
  17. Thank God that buffoon didn't buy the Bills. He may be a decent businessman, but he's still a moron.
  18. Yep, if you take one thing away it opens another up. I really like Chandler, but if we had a playmaking, hyper-athletic TE, even along the lines of a Witten, the offense would be amazing.
  19. Just stop reading his stuff. He takes a negative angle so often, you can often tell his articles just by the title. Don't give him the page views, folks, and the problem will take care of itself. Nobody forces anyone to pay attention to him, so I don't understand why people subject themselves to an asshat they don't like. I don't mind objectivity, but I don't find him objective because he ALWAYS searches for the negative angle. So I don't read his stuff.
  20. Who cares about the fine? That is pocket change to those guys. I'm more concerned that the damn refs don't throw the flag, giving the other team a very real and specific advantage.
  21. So Chandler is better than Gronk?
  22. He can go pound salt. Maybe that's what he's doing.
