  1. Rosen's reach is far & wide!
  2. Yes, because being a loudmouth buffoon immediately makes you a good coach! By that measure Bill Belichek sucks, I guess.
  3. Good idea. You can replace a major douche with another major douche, so there's some continuity.
  4. Bills can block lateral moves, they can't block promotions.
  5. I'm not in the Ryan camp at all. He's a buffoon with a big mouth. He'll cause controversy, and he doesn't seem like he would fit as a buffalo bill to me.
  6. My wife runs marathons and triathlete here in Rochester, so I'm familiar with who Mary Eggers is because the triathlete community is small. I will say this: Mary Eggers is one hell of an athlete. Like an unbelievable athlete at the elite level. And she knows what it takes to succeed and dedicate herself to be the best at something. And also how to inspire others to do just that. If you have ever seen anyone train for a marathon, you may understand what I'm talking about. If you have ever seen what someone goes through to train for an Ironman, you'll understand. It is one of the most mentally and physically demanding things you can put your body through. It made Heinz Ward cry when he trained for an ironman, let me put it that way. I don't think the Bills would be stupid for getting her input. She would have credibility because she is every bit the athlete that they are. Maybe even better than most of them from a pure athletics and drive standpoint.
  7. I think he'd be an upgrade, but he also traded for a WR in the first round.
  8. Ryan said he is not looking for coordinator positions, so no. Plus, he's a foot-sniffing buffoon.
  9. If he can't handle morons like Sullivan and Schoop, what do you think is going to happen in NYC where they have REAL reporters and columnists who aren't intellectually lazy like those two? Buffalo has two, maybe three columnists/reporters who are actually good at their job, and neither of them are named Sullivan or Schmoopie. If marrone has thin skin for the buffalo buffons, there's no way he'll handle NY.
  10. Um, how old is this article? The Bills aren't moving to Toronto, and there is no danger of doing so. I'd even say the Bills are seen as a team on the rise, given the strength of the defense and the relatively few pieces needed on offense, however critical.
  11. Generally, the media likes guys who make their job easier. Rex is always entertaining, is always doing something silly, and gives them something easy to write about. It allows them to be intellectually lazy. Therefore, the media likes him. Contrast that to marrone, who has disdain for the media, and they will never like him. Especially morons like Jerry Sullivan.
  12. So basically you go from being a high-read database most of the time to being a highly transactional database on gamedays, being pounded by both database reads and writes. The services I manage are mainly MS SQL Server, and I'm not too familiar with MSQL, but a database is a database. Also, I'm a manager so that means I don't actually DO any of this stuff any more, I just have people that do. So take this with a grain of salt. Being I/O bound tells me you can do one of three things: 1. Get a DBA to look at the queries that are executing on gameday and see if there are any indexes that can be added or deleted to deal with the load. Made sure scheduled database maintenance is done (index rebuilds, statistics updated, etc) the night before gameday. There's probably tuning to do. 2. Get more I/O via more/faster drives. Some form of striping is what is needed, obviously, and the more drives striped the better. In years past, this has been the cheapest answer and effective. Storage is cheap. You'll also get more milage out of multiple RAIDed SCSI or SATA drives than a few SSDs that cost the same. For the money, the more platters the better! The same money you would save going to multiple striped SATA drives vs. the cost of SCSI or SSDs would probably have a big impact. Platters! 3. Add tons of memory so you pretty much run the DB in memory (or most of it) and then you aren't going to disk as much. I've had to do this, too, because MS SQL is a pain in the ass. But it really works well. Obviously, any combination of the above would get you through this. Then there's the elephant in the room, which is some type of archiving system that saves stuff off somewhere else. Probably not a project you'd like to undertake, but out of anything I've ever seen done it is by far the most effective. Get that database size down to a size it was probably tuned for, and it works wonders.
  13. I agree that he'd be hired quickly. Especially now that he's had two years experience under his belt, and all the shizzle the team went through this year and still managed to get to 9 wins. Bills fans always think their QB is crap and their coach is crap. Hell, people were bitching when Marv was the coach. A little perspective would do us all good. Hackett, on the other hand, needs to go.
  14. Is the backend MS SQL Server or something else? Those specs look good, although I don't know where the system is bound up - at the database level or somewhere else. I wish I had more time to geek out on this with you, because I agree with you that cloud would seem the way to go, however figuring out pricing (it is done by hour, right?) would be confusing. Seems to me cloud would be a better option than owning a server, as you pay for capacity, and don't need to own a monster that gets used for 16 weeks, 4 hours a week.
  15. So you don't like him because the way he acted in a friggin press conference? His demeanor doesn't suit you? Really? That's why you want him gone? Please.
  16. Playoff game. I've got a beautiful wife already. Plus there's no guarantee Andrews would put out, anyway.
  17. You can cut anyone, at any time. There's no rules about how long you keep a player.
  18. He wasn't great when he played.
  19. That's complete BS. Better body control? A better route runner? Amazing you can detect that at this point in their career. Sheesh.
  20. Jerry Sullivan, is that you?
  21. He's a punk, and needs to mature quite a bit before he can even consider becoming a backup QB. Right now he's at the Tebow level, which means he sucks.
  22. The guy hasn't owned the team for a year and his credibility is at stake? Please. Classic buffalo knee-jerk stupidity.
  23. Basically, any GM wants to pick their own coach. It is unlikely we get a new GM without a new coach.
  24. Two first rounders and a second for a 35 year old QB? Are you out of your mind?
