On Bill. How do you consistently miss such easy set-ups? -
You misspelled "*****". Of course, if you spelled it properly, the profanity filter would probably censor it.

The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency

Well, if they're going to be that upset, they should #LearnToMineCoal. -
Why would I be optimistic about there being even more idiots in the world?

The death toll continues to rise as Muslims wage a holy war on this Catholic-majority nation. The Philippines has been under siege by Muslim fighters for years. The Philippines has made extraordinary concessions to the violent Muslim uprising. But as we know, that only leads to more violence and more demands for an even bigger Islamic state Not "The Philippines." Just Jolo and western Mindanao. And it's not a "Muslim holy war," it's Moros fighting for independence.

They're still preparing her clone. I know, I know...I'm not serious. But will you believe me when she looks 20 years younger at her next public appearance? -

I went to the original Newseum a couple of times, when it was a small out-of-the-way place in Rosslyn. It seemed well-sized for the traffic and the displays. That Pennsylvania Avenue location was ridiculous. Nothing more than the media enjoying the smell of its own farts. -
How far do we let The Dude's Racism Go?

No, I think he really is this screwed up. -

And he probably paid #30M-50M in taxes buying that with current assets that, if not spent, would not have been taxed at all. But I guess we're now defining "tax" as confiscation of assets without due process... -
He's wrong, on so many levels. 9th Circuit wouldn't, as it would get to a district court first - and whichever one heard the case would certainly issue a stay (because the filers would venue-shop to find one that would) pending hearings, on the grounds that "the national emergency is racist" - the same grounds they stayed the exercise of prosecutorial discretion in revoking DACA. And if it eventually got to the 9th Circus, after hearing after hearing...they absolutely could rule the law unconstitutional. Which would just send it to the Supreme Court...and would be hilarious, as it would suspend some 25 other national emergencies currently in force. They'd be stupid to do it...but I never trust the 9th Circuit to make the smart decision when they can make the stupid progressive decision.

Yes...and conicdentally, it's 1024 times the number of lines you'd see on a pole in New England. -
No idea where to put this, so I'll stick it in "Greg's Thread of Random Crap." Someone tried to burn down Comet Ping Pong pizza yesterday.

How far do we let The Dude's Racism Go?

I only picked the first one google showed, because I only needed one example to show you're a chucklehead. I skipped the stories about Buddhist violence in Japan, Thailand, mainland India, Tibet, Myanmar, Cambodia, etc. -
Crimean was 6 years earlier, and larger than any landing in the Civil War. Gallipoli was more in line with those earlier invasions, in that it was an ill-planned attempt based on the idea of "get troops ashore and then do something" - i.e. that the battle began at the beach with the landing. "Modern" amphibious warfare starts when generals and admirals start realizing that a landing force has to be fought on to the beach and inland - that the battle space is the littoral and forward, not the beach and forward. That pretty much starts at Vera Cruz in 1914. Which is notable, because it predates Gallipoli...but Gallipoli was very much of the previous century, lacking any plans for communication, coordination, command, or fire support. "Machine guns" and 'trenches" were irrelevant to the nature, execution, and result of the invasion; it was poor staff work (as was typical of most of Churchill's brainstorms), command arrangements, and communication that characterized the invasion and make it pre-modern. EDIT: I should add that my interpretation of military history is doctrinal, not tactical or technical. So you'll probably find plenty of authorities who disagree with me on the above. They would be what I call "wrong." Every historical "transformation in warfare," as Rumsfeld says, stemmed from increased communications, intelligence, and movement - being able to tell people what to do, get them to do it, to collect and disseminate information, and to move ***** around faster and get it places first.

http://theconversation.com/violent-buddhist-extremists-are-targeting-muslims-in-sri-lanka-92951 If it were up to random chance, you would have posted something correct by now, even accidentally. It's like you actively try to be stupid. -
Not Gallipoli per se, but he was always pushing for actions in the Balkans as a counter-balance to inevitable Soviet influence in Eastern Europe. As for Galliploi being the first modern amphibious landing...define "modern." It was probably about as different from landings in the Crimean War as it was from landing at Saipan.

No, you posted poetry. Why the ***** are you even here? No, they commit crime at a much, much higher rate, through virtue of BREAKING IMMIGRATION LAW. You really have to accept that to begin to address the issue. "They're not really breaking the law" is a simple dismissal of a law you don't like, which means you never have to actually...y'know...change it. It perpetuates the problem, it doesn't solve it. Until you admit that illegal immigrants are breaking the law, you are part of the problem.

Yes, I'm not qualified to speak to census data from the 1850's, because I didn't experience the 1850's. You are inexpressibly stupid.

A PhD in Romantic Comedies. 10 years of writing about gender politics, and PhD in toxic masculinity fiction, in the same sentence. -
Not true, it's about racism. It's just that accusations of racism these days is about suppressing dissent.
