and there it is, we are laying down.

leodis was an 11th overall pick. he's just terrible. god we are a bust magnet.
-
this really sucks. fitzpatrick is being sht. that bad throw to his left, that horrible duck behind the crossing wr, and that high pass over the head of the wide open TE. he looks terrible, he needs to find his rythm and we need to fool the jets to win because we can't line up against them.

Perhaps we should stop calling it a "lack of depth"
colin replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
truth rings out in this thread. we could have kept -- greer, whitner, poz, cj ah you, hargrove, hangartern, and even with all the draft picks that haven't been good, we would have had a much much better team. there are many more players, but these are all guys who were at need positions who we let go WHILE THEY WERE FILLING NEED POSITIONS just to fill in again. another step back and you have lynch, fletcher, tko spikes, clements. if they kept these guys, even at contracts that would have seemed like too much, they would have made good positive contributions to our team and allowed us to spend draft picks on other needs. all the above guys with the possible exception of clements are good solid football players doing well in the nfl right now. if we kept half of them and spent 3 draft picks on something other than their replacements, we'd have a much much better team today, and even be competing for the playoffs. at some point the bills have to figure out a way to keep good players, because we've had the guys come through here who were good enough to win. -
Round 2 (Pick #34): CB Aaron Williams - University of Texas
colin replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
god, you anti CB guys are just like broken records. we are gonna lose 1-3 guys in our secondary due to FA and old age, and it's a bad idea to get a well rated guy who can play CB or S in the 2nd? -
he's a super star, and was touted as such since like 10 games into his college career. i don't think anyone wouldn't take a do over with whitner at this point, that horse is pretty dead and should stop being beaten.
-
i dunno, i feel pretty good about troup, carrington, and moats on our d becoming good players. i think we need a couple real studs in there, at least 1 pass rusher and 2 lbs, and obviously upgrading anyone we can would help too. our run d sucks bad and i think it's mainly an LB thing for us.
-
exactly. frankly he was a good DE yesterday. not great, but good. dwan was closer to great, but not quite. poz and whitner were very good, and williams was great. i'd say we need another DE/OLB who can bring terror in the pass rush, and at least one more LB to start, two would be nice. i think with those additions we'd have a good D, and i think we can do that in next year's draft/FA. of course we take a franchise qb if one's there, but a stud DE/pass rusher can make a team as well.

Philly writer complaining about Eagles O-line
colin replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you know, i always thought peters would have made a much better DT. he's simply awesome on like 30 or 40% of plays, good on 20-30%, not so good on 15-25, and just takes off 15-25%. on the d line you'd be happy forgiving the bad for the big turnover and drive stopping stuff he'd do, but on the Oline just getting the job done regularly is more important than destroying a guy most of the time and him getting by you and causing a fumble some of the rest of the time. i rewatched every single sack in his last season here a few times, and i know that it has been debated how many were on him, but frankly he stunk up the joint on at least 10 of them. i think he's had (not as much but) similar issues in philly, he just isn't a natural LT from a work habit and discipline point of view -- he was a converted TE after all. -
Fred Jackson will be the odd man out...
colin replied to sharper802's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I expect 30-40 plays to RBs per game this year, although that includes some to an RB lined up in a slot and some wild cat. these backs and a good scheme can be used to overcome some of our weakness at OL and will wear guys down. i'd ditch lynch for value, but having 3 stud backs doesn't hurt us. -
Round 4, Pick #107: WR Marcus Easley WR - UCONN
colin replied to Tom's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
guys, we went from having april influence our bad front office too much having us draft tons of special teams only guys to ditching them and him, but we still need some studs on special teams. this kid day one can be that guy for us and has upside as a WR. throw in cj on punts, mclovin' on kicks, and freddie sometimes and you've got us being able to produce like we used to (even have parish there too) while we added big play ability to O and some beef up on the line on D. i wanna see what a line backing core of schoble, maybin, poz, and mitchell can do behind stroud troup and one of many guys we can put at the other end slot. if we can force two extra punts a game this year that gives us some field position an with our stable of backs if we can wear some teams down we will win some more games. -
as goofy as it sounds the big thing to me that makes me think this kid will be a stud is that he is an acedemic all american, and graduated in 3.5 years, and was on the track team (even tho he missed some of the pre football stuff for the 09 season). that looks a lot like robert smith to me, although i think spiller is more liked by his teammates as a super hard competitor (smith has a rep of not fighting for extra yards as it often hurt him). a smart rb (tt and barry could be said to be that, as well as faulk and lt of course) imo is like a MLB with great spead -- it gives him an extra edge to get things outside of the play design done. without just shot gunning it like lynch and mcgahee often did risking it in the back field to hope to break one, i think the best rb's run to a level where they are gaining ground, then make their move for a chance at a big one. it takes smarts to disect the play like that, willis and marshawn are basically idiots (altho i like lynch and would like him to stay to give us a stable) tt was brilliant at this, and in school spiller looks that way too.
-
i really like those guys, but our D is on the verge of being very good, and our O is just horrible. i think we go RB if we trade Lynch, LT/small chance of QB if we don't, 9th overall. in the 2nd if we trade lynch i think we go NT and LT, o/w if cody is there we grab him, if a good LT falls we grab him. so we might trade lynch, get spiller, cody, and an LT (in 2nd). that would be an awesome draft and we'd have big play running (as well as freddy bieng our set your watch to workhorse) and stop most of the big plays running going the other way with our new plugged up 3-4
-
if we do a "big nickle" package where we drop an LB and add a safety he could be really good. mc's at corner whitner, scott, harris at safety (or whitner/scott byrd and harris) poz aaron and mayin at LB stroud williams johnson/kelsey/mccargo on the line. on like 3rd and 7 that could stop draws form getting first downs (god i hope we solve that problem) but also provide some good coverage and allow for some interesting blitzing. schoble and maybin on the edge should be very hard for teams to match up on.

Jason Peters ripped for his poor play in Philly last year
colin replied to Deep2Moulds46's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
first of all ruben was fcking awesome and a pure bills guy. gimme 5 of him and you have a killer oline. to me peters is the sean gilbert of the o line. awesome skills and physical ability, poor focus and conditioning, prone to quit. gilbert went to carolina and was considered by all who played or practiced with him as the best talent in the Dline in the nfl. unblockable was thrown around with his name all the time. thing is he wasn't a super hard worker or football guy in the nfl, and so he ended up under playing his contract. now a DT i can see being an asset if he is great sometimes and bad others, because big plays by a dt cand disrupt a whole O. on the O line, particularly at LT, i want a rock steady guy. a mistake by an Oline player will offset 10 much better than average plays, it's just the nature of the position. because of that i fade peters as a player at his salary, and we did fck up by not having an LT in place really soon. oher over maybin would have made us a MUCH better team last year. -
Maybe the "brain-trust" goes WR early in the draft?
colin replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
if cody or a similar NT isn't there at 2nd-9, i could see us taking WR and liking it nice. o/w LT in the 1st, NT in the 2nd, WR in the 3rd. considering maybin and schoble are OLBs now, we have 6 or 7bls at the moment and would do well just going for a converted DE or a big MLB in the later rounds. I think we might be OK at RT, and good in the middle 3 if wood is back. a stud LT would round out or OL well enough for a good running game. our passing is gonna be all scheme and play action, and i still think we might get vick. -
porter and thomas likely to be cut
colin replied to dwight in philly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
those guys and wilfork will give us a sick 34 and let us draft TE/WR and LT in the first 2 (obv LT being top slot). that would be huge. porter and maybin/aaron shoble on the outside, and thomas and poz in the middle, w williams and stroud at DE and vince in the gut would be just beastly -
mangold and revis are slam dunks, but i'm not so sure about harris over poz. i was really really down on poz as recently as the tenn game when he missed a tackle at the goal line, but honestly he was a fugging beast for the reast of the season. the pics are money and he really has come in and smacked guys more. if we go 34 and get wilfork he might be pretty salty in the middle, a teddy bruschi with more speed and talent.

Brian schottenheimer is a better choice than Bill coward
colin replied to Buffalo 66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
our coordinators gillbride and williams mentioned above are studs on other teams -- it's more about players than coaches. we need a good coach, but it's not like only one will do. cowher is my #1, but shotty jnr would make me happy -
peters has sick talent and skills, he's just fat lazy stupid and a dick. i'd way way rather have solid but not great consistent o linemen than a stud who makes great plays and then just stinks in others. like corner back a mistake by an LT can mean way more damage than a few great plays.
-
I've become a big tebow fan, he could be vince young (who for all his flack and bad press, is a very very dangerous football player). I'd take him (not 9th, but in the 1st). Pat white from WVU went in the 2nd to miami, who already had a 2nd round QB and Pennington. don't think an athlete can't play in the nfl. they don't think that way anymore.

that quote makes me think he thinks he's staying and other guys are going.

rolondo is the next lavaar, but with a better head for the game. if he's there, i take him and turn our LBs from a joke to a set of monster killing machines.
